24.01.2022 As a Celebrant I meet, through the sharing of memories so many interesting people. Just recently I met Ron Jones through the words of his loving daughters. Ron was generous, lovable, a solid mate, a clown, a Dad, Gran Poppie, a 75year member of the Carlton Football Club. I was privileged to conduct his Celebration of Life and to wear his Members Scarf during the service. It was a first for me - conducting the service with the coffin standing on a football oval. Thanks Michelle Jane Photographer for the photos.

16.01.2022 Monday was a little hectic but it was made all worthwhile when I arrived home and found that a family had sent me a beautiful bunch of flowers and another family has sent me a lovely card. We don't always know the full extent of how we impact on the families we touch for such a short time - the flowers and the card makes the effort all worthwhile. To quote from the card ' The prayers, the music and the references to ........'s life were all delivered with panache and have created a 'living memory' which I will treasure'.

15.01.2022 A beautiful roof for the coffin of a man who was a "Roofer"

12.01.2022 Today is a happy day for some and also a very sad day for others as we reflect and think of our Dads. My Dad has been gone for 27 years now but I still miss him and think of him every day. So often I see things that I would love to share with him. I would like to share a poem written by Robyn O'Connell, written especially for Fathers Day. Just letting you know were thinking of you today wishing we know how to take the pain away... it comes from a sadness, missing someone you knew a father who was always so good and so true The ache in your heart is real and it hurts so much Longing to hear his voice, feel his touch To see his smile, to feel his arms wrapped around you all these things are normal when you are feeling blue Know that he would not want you to be sad only to remember the days when you were happy and glad to know hes still around, comforts you still his love surrounds you and always will So look on today with mixed feelings if you must then let your grief be comforted by trust if he could speak he would probably say Just give me a smile, for this Fathers Day

10.01.2022 Researching for a verse/saying for an upcoming funeral service I found this quote from Nan Witcomb - I feel it is so correct.

10.01.2022 With Mother’s Day fast approaching our thoughts turn to our mothers those that are still with us and those who have left us. It is so hard to miss seeing the flowers, the hearts of love, the chocolates and the advertisements telling us what to get Mum it makes it harder for those who have lost their beloved Mum or Nanna, Grandma and brings back memories of times together. My beautiful Mum died on 30th January 2011, she was 93. I can’t help but reflect on her life how ...it was so different to mine, my siblings and my children’s lives. I miss her and think of her each day. She is resting with Dad. "She is the sun, the wind, the rain, She’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, No more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love." Christy Ann Martine See more

09.01.2022 Spring is with us again and while looking at the flowers in the garden I started to think of the wonderful families and the beautiful flowers that they had organised for their loved ones. These flowers came to mind - beautiful spring colours for a lovely mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

05.01.2022 Sometmes we need to dig deep and steady ourselves and my service on Friday was such an occasion. I conducted a beautiful goodbye and naming ceremony for a baby boy born at 24weeks. Death of a baby opens the floodgates of so many emotions and this was such an occasion. To see the little coffin with his teddy bears and covered with the rose petals was heartbreaking. I was privileged to be asked to conduct this service for him.

04.01.2022 Researching for a service next week I came across these words: "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice."... What a wonderful advice for living.

03.01.2022 I was honoured to be part of the sevice for a loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend today. He only wanted a cardboard box but he had a wooden box and he was sent off in style. Express Post - Returned to Sender tied up with twine. Beautiful flowers created by a friend......
