17.01.2022 I see you taking your kid to therapy while your friends take their kids to football or ballet. I see you sneak out of the conversation when all your friends boa...st about achievements and exam notes. I see you juggle events and meetings. I see you sitting on the computer for hours investigating what your child needs. I see you make a bad face when people complain about what looks like nonsense. I see you disappear little by little but you keep going beyond for your family. I see you pull strength from weakness with a force you didn't even dream you had. I see you showing respect for teachers, therapists and medical professionals who help your child and help you. Watching you wake up early in the morning to do it all again after another chaotic night. I see you when you're on the edge of the precipice struggling to live. I know you feel invisible, like no one notices. But I want you to know that I see you. I see you push forward always. I see you choose to do everything you can to give your child the best care at home, school, therapy and the doctors. What you do matters. It's worth the struggle. On those days when you wonder if you can make it one more minute, I want you to know I see you. I want you to know that you are beautiful. I want you to know it's worth it. I want you to know that you are not alone. I want you to know that love is the most important thing, and that you are the best at it. And in those days when you see an improvement, those moments when hard work has its reward, and you can taste success, I'll see you then too. And I'm proud of you. Whatever day today... ...you're doing it right. And I see you. Alethea Mshar John Walker / Flickr

08.01.2022 Jayde needs your vote! If Jayde is successful, Rebound WA will use the funds he is awarded ($10,000) to repair valuable equipment so players don't need to share... chairs. Please help Jayde and Rebound WA by voting and sharing. This is Jayde's story.... Jayde Seed is passionate about giving people with disabilities the chance to keep fit and achieve their full potential, just as he has. Jayde was left with quadriplegia after a football accident but participating in wheelchair rugby helped through the dark times. For 15 years, he has been proudly volunteering for Rebound WA's wheelchair rugby program to raise awareness of the life-changing sport and is now the team captain and coach. He is a regular visitor to people in hospital after suffering a traumatic injury. "Providing hope and support to others who have suffered a traumatic injury like myself is invaluable to their recovery," he says. https://surveys.reputation.com/surveys3/run

05.01.2022 SAM TRANSLATES: Everybody's got all the four support categories in core now (go look at your portal!) - mix 'em up however you want between the four... UNLESS...... you get your transport money in your bank account each fortnight, then you can't use the rest of your core for extra transport stuff, which sucks. But overall, this is a great step in the right direction! Now you can look at your Core budgets as one big lump of funding and spend it on core stuff without worrying about how much is in each bucket - consumables (including low cost AT, Daily Living Assistance, Social & Community Participation, and Travel and Transport. Yesterday's NDIS Core Categories update in the NDIS' words: "15 June: How will I know my plan is now flexible across all four support categories? From 13 June, all participants with Core supports can use all four core funding categories under their Core supports budget, without the need for a plan review. Participants who already receive periodic transport payments will continue to have these paid into their bank account, to cover transport costs connected to activities included in their plan. These funds cannot be used towards other Core supports. If you receive periodic transport payments, you will be able to use your funding across the three Core support budget categories, not including the transport category. Participants who do not receive periodic transport payments can use their overall funding flexibly to pay for transport-related costs to access NDIS supports and services. You do not need to do anything. This system change will be applied to all new and existing participant plans with Core support funding. This means flexibility in accessing the disability related supports you need to achieve your goals." https://www.ndis.gov.au//participants-co/using-your-budget Pic desc: a table listing the 15 support categories and their flexibility, in purple and orange with black writing and a Growing Space logo in the bottom right. Here is the text of the table: SUPPORT CATEGORY CORE 1. Assistance with Daily Living 2. Travel and Transport Mobility Allowance 3. Consumables 4. Assistance with Social and Community Participation Can be spent across support categories CAPITAL 5. Assistive Technology 6. Home Modifications Restricted to specific line items CAPACITY BUILDING 7. Coordination of Supports 8. Improved Living Arrangements 9. Increased Social and Community Participation 10. Finding and Keeping a Job 11. Improved Relationships 12. Improved Health and Wellbeing 13. Improved Learning 14. Improved Life Choices 15. Improved Daily Living Allocated at support category level and not flexible across categories
