25.01.2022 Anecdotally I think this is probably still happening. Anyone still being subjected to endless 'meetings' but remotely? Or have you found that being forced into remote work has removed some of this?

23.01.2022 What if all those things that people criticise you for, are actually strengths? #womenofpenrith Join my mailing list - https://mailchi.mp/26d7ad1b1/women-of-penrith-natalie-wells

23.01.2022 She is always wearing lycra. She wears so much make up. It is almost like that is something that helps her job, or quite frankly, something that she does because she wants to. In a throw back to a previous Women of Penrith star I am looking again at Winsome Barker, the dance teacher who just wears "too much makeup". Also I am excited for her that her dance studio can function properly again. https://www.janisconsults.com/blog/winsomebarker

23.01.2022 A new course at Tafe, fully subsided for women with a small business and ABN, and it seems to include one business law subject and two marketing subjects. https://www.tafensw.edu.au/womeninbusiness

21.01.2022 Why are all my emails going to people's spam boxes? Maybe you are stuck in the spam vortex.

19.01.2022 When did you last look at your Linked In profile?

18.01.2022 Do you Google yourself? It sounds like a joke but your potential customers or clients are doing it, so you really should be doing it too. Also, yes, before I posted this I just Googled myself. https://www.janisconsults.com/blog/do-you-google-yourself

18.01.2022 This is an old blog post that is suddenly really relevant. Word of mouth is a bit part of the puzzle for service based businesses, and has at the very least changed because of physical distancing and the resultant changes to or reduction in social interaction. So if word of mouth has changed or is not working, what should you do? https://www.janisconsults.com/blog/i-dont-need-marketing

16.01.2022 If you still think that the solution for DV does not include a shift in thinking from our society and our government- Is this an issue of a woman suffering significant violence or is this an instance of a husband being driven too far by issues hes suffered, by certain circumstances, into committing acts of this form? - Detective Inspector Mark Thompson of QLD Police

16.01.2022 Which (e)mail platform should you use? I use both MailChimp and Mailerlite for different things, though I am using MailChimp less and less because they keep moving simple features onto the paid platform. I like Mailerlite because it is less spammy (as in my emails end up in spam less often) and it is still free to create as many specific groups as you want. This is important because creating groups allows you to avoid spam folders by only sending stuff that is relevant to th...at group. MailChimp has 'tags' but you have to go through and manually tag users, which is time consuming, and there is no way to invite users to sign up to an individual group. Mailerlite also seems to have better (free) landing pages. Mailerlite does not connect with your socials though, and MailChimp does. This is important if you are trying to do your socials yourself. MailChimp also has an obvious call to action (Subscribe) when you share the newsletter on your socials. Mailterlite does not have this. MailChimp has also removed the scheduling option to the paid account, which for me was the last nail in the coffin, but if you are trying to do it all yourself for free while running a business then actually you should seriously consider MailChimp. You will be able to send the email and also post to your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram from one place. In reality it is better that you send the content, than waiting to send perfect content and then running out of time.

15.01.2022 Good morning friendly people. I am trying to get my #norespectnorelationship program back up and running, but honestly I haven't had the time I would have liked to contact schools individually. If you know of a school or community group that would be interested could you let me know, or share this info with them?

15.01.2022 Why would I post about the definition of respect? Because it matters. Respect is important. Can you define it, without looking it up? Can you identify it in every day interactions?... Is this how you are treated? If it is not how you are treated, what can you do about that? Is this what we teach our young ones to expect?

14.01.2022 Is anyone out there using or has tried Google Cloud Web Hosting? I am intrigued and seriously considering creating a site just to see if it is any good.

13.01.2022 What are you giving your energy to this week?

12.01.2022 A new little project of mine #mychildcoworker

12.01.2022 Has anyone else purchased statement earrings (according to this SMH article many have?) Perhaps I missed this trend cause I have statement head bands and scarves? https://amp.smh.com.au//the-surprising-accessory-we-re-buy

11.01.2022 Lyzzi Donnelly-Coode is always clowning around, which is great, because it was an important part of her job as an outdoor educator. Luckily she was also really good at micro analysing things, because that is actually what you want from the woman to is throwing your child down a cliff face attached to a rope. #womenofpenrith... https://www.janisconsults.com//women-of-penrith-lyzzi-donn

07.01.2022 Respect is important, and we should really devote more time to discussing it. https://www.janisconsults.com/no-respect-no-relationship

07.01.2022 Thanks Sharna Clemmett for the very sensible question, do I have the #womenofpenrith in a list? Now I do. I had a busy 2019 as I think you all know, I am trying to get my side projects like this and #norespectnorelationship kicked off again. https://www.janisconsults.com/blog/women-of-penrith-the-list

06.01.2022 I had conversations with two difference lawyers this week about their point of difference so I have been thinking about this a bit. So often at the moment when I see point of difference being sold to business owners as something important, something that has to be set up and maintained. It shouldn't be that hard, it should be using your marketing to emphase a natural and pre-existing part of your business. https://www.janisconsults.com/blog/point-of-difference

05.01.2022 Well it is late, I am tired but I cannot sleep, so help me out Facebook land. Which saying do you prefer? Perhaps like the image?

04.01.2022 I was a bit busy in 2019 but I am now trying to get back into my community projects. I have gone back to my original Woman of Penrith, Ruth Henwood, to start a bit of a sub threat on women who just won't 'dress like a girl'. Please join my mailing list to follow along and get updates on other marketing related matters. #womenofpenrith... 04.01.2022 Remember, your phone is a computer, so treat your work phone accordingly. This is one example of why I am against having your digital licence on your work phone, if you are fired they will take your phone quickly and now you dont have your licence. https://www.nytimes.com//what-not-to-do-on-your-work-compu

04.01.2022 I know that a lot of people are suddenly working from home, and a lot of businesses or community groups or sporting or religious organisations that used to do things face to face are suddenly being forced online. I have revisited an old post about how to understand the Facebook algorithms, adding some more information, trying to be more helpful. I am also working on my excel spreadsheet that I use for myself to get it into a more user friendly format to share with everyone (...at the moment it only makes sense to me). I would love some feedback on whether less is more? The original post was about a third of it's current size and the take home point has not changed. Would people prefer brief and to the point or are you needing more info? https://www.janisconsults.com/blog/do-what-facebook-wants

03.01.2022 Do you have an old phone with a smashed screen? Do you or your child suddenly need a web cam? Hubby used my old smashed android, so smashed you have to plug in a mouse to send it commands, to set up his web cam. We need a second one now that we both are needing ours at the same time, the picture quality and microphone on a phone are actually often better than a web cam. He used an app called DroidCam. DroidCam

02.01.2022 More late night postings - the next instalment of #womenofpenrith - challenging those negative behavioural characteristics and showing how they could be positive. For instance, she is always so serious or micro analysing things because, well, abseiling safety is serious and this is exactly what you want in an outdoor educator. Which one is your favourite though? Lyzzi Donnelly-Coode

02.01.2022 With tight water restrictions starting today, do you notice that there is no discussion regarding business water use, or restricting the use of drinking water, or changing certain businesses over from using our drinking water? The accountant in me hates it when we refuse to collect data in order to have a proper conversation. I am noticing that when I go looking for statistics on business usage vs domestic usage I cannot find it (for instance look at heavy process, manufactur...ing, printing and beverages in this list). https://www.sydneywater.com.au///mdq2/~edisp/dd_046262.pdf
