22.01.2022 A most beautiful way to learn Makaton sign language. Makaton is a simplified signing system for adults and children with disabilities who are unable to use sufficient/any speech to communicate. Years back I worked with a group of adult students with communication impairment and we signed to the song Wild Thing (you make my heart sing). It was lots of fun. Enjoy this clip: https://www.juicebrighton.com//watch-hove-mum-and-son-in-/

18.01.2022 What is swallowing? Like breathing, swallowing is essential to everyday life. We swallow between 500-700 times a day, around three times an hour during sleep, o...nce per minute while awake and even more during meals. But what if you had difficulties swallowing (dysphagia)? Dr Julie Cichero explains why Swallowing Awareness Day on Wednesday 18 March 2020 is so important for raising awareness of swallowing difficulties. See more

17.01.2022 Those in Greater Brisbane and particularly Ipswich who can’t maintain social distancing should consider wearing masks, Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young s...ays. MORE: https://ab.co/3l5tWcK If you’re in a crowded situation that you can’t get out of, put a mask on," she says. Bit of hand sanitiser in your back pocket or your handbag and a mask with it. While Dr Young won’t be mandating mask-wearing, she said the state was in a risky period and urged people to opt for a mask if social distancing is unachievable.

09.01.2022 One sign that a person may have a swallowing disorder (dysphagia) is trouble swallowing tablets. People who have trouble swallowing are at risk of choking, poor... nutrition and dehydration, while placing themselves at risk by not taking their medication. Left untreated, swallowing disorders can have a devastating effect on a persons physical and emotional well-being. Speech pathologists are the professionals who assess and treat swallowing disorders. 06.01.2022 Just this week I looked at a little person who visits my clinic to review progress and congratulated his parents. This little battler came to me for therapy virtually impossible to understand, even for his parents and with context. We all believed he could achieve and with vigilance in doing homework tasks, he has achieved so much! Well done to those parents who have the determination to keep going, problem solve behaviour, rewards, fatigue etc and to their son who stuck with it. We now love hearing his tales. https://www.facebook.com/story.php

02.01.2022 Very interesting article ... QUOTE Toxic mold based illness is a very prevalent and under diagnosed condition that can manifest in many different ways, includ...ing with symptoms that are exclusively psychiatric, such as depression, anxiety, attentional problems, brain fog and insomnia. Vulnerability to mold toxicity is only present in 25% of the population, who in most cases, have a genetic predisposition which inhibits their clearance of biotoxins. A family can all be living in the same house with mold growth, but only one family member will become ill. This is because that person is the only one with the genetic vulnerability. #AustinTherapies #AcupunctureClinicBelmontBrisbane #MoldToxicityCommonCauseOfMentalIssued
