17.01.2022 Core Myofascial Release Course - fabulous massage course last weekend at The Centre in Randwick. Even though I've been practicing massage for 20 years, I think this technique is going to be an amazing tool to add to my 'bag of tricks'. I felt so calm and rejuvenated after all the wonderful massages I received (and gave) over the the weekend, I'm really excited to start practicing this technique on my clients, so they can feel the benefits too. The next module is not until 2021 though but can't wait! Thanks Chris (from Core Body Therapy) for your kindness, humour and generosity in sharing your knowledge. Also, lots of interesting walks around Randwick streets - love the houses, although not so happy about being swooped on by a protective Magpie!
17.01.2022 Yes, more training! Sunday at the ATMS (Australian Traditional Medicine Society) AGM. Some fabulous keynote speakers such as Kirryn Zerma (photo) and Heather Porter, speaking on social media/websites. I hope to have some interesting and informative articles coming your way over the next few months, maybe even a website upgrade. Also, now a 'Fellow of ATMS' for being over 10 years a member - almost 20 actually! Photographed with Maggie Sands - ATMS Board of Directors. No walks around the streets this time but some fabulous views from the 7th floor of the UTS building in Ultimo. #atmsseminar

11.01.2022 Theraband - Arm/shoulder workout; Enjoy this short video with the theraband. Can also be done with hand weights. What I love about these exercises; With good technique these exercises are fabulous for improving strength into the intrinsic muscles of the shoulder girdle. I love the kneeling position and the lateral flexion positions - takes me out of that stable range and turns these exercises into more functional movements and real full body exercises. Please ensure you have... good shoulder, spine, rib and pelvic alignment; * shoulders broad, creating a sense of space across the chest and back * cylinder of ribs shining toward cylinder of pelvis * centre of sternum (breastbone) shining forward * xiphoid process (bottom of breastbone) pointing toward pubic bone * Creating length through the spine; imagine an energy line from the base of your spine out through the crown of the head reaching to the sky, creating space between each bone of the spine, especially along the back of the neck. You could also imagine the knees (or hips in seated position) being drawn through the floor and being anchored into the earth like tree roots. Shoulders will lift in the overhead exercises to allow space for correct movement of the arms, although please work in a manner that doesnt create any tension or strain in the neck or shoulders. Exercises can also be done without the band to help improve proprioception, and range of movement. Medical disclaimer: Please work only in a range that does not cause pain. Consult with your physician prior to participating in this video if you have any injuries or conditions that may be exacerbated by these techniques. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to join one of our classes.
