We have never been political on this page, but there's a really big vote coming up to see if people want to legalise same sex marriage in Australia. ...Loads of the people we work with on the Onslow Arts Council identify as gay, so it's a pretty important issue to us. This video was created not to ram opinions down throats but to create a discussion. This next bit is important: -- First and foremost we're comedians not journalists, so we're bound to get some stuff wrong. This is a sketch comedy page, mistaking us for a credible journalistic source is like mistaking Monthy Python for the Washington Post. -- That being said we'll do the absolute best we can to footnote any new information in this post. 1) First up we assert that Alan Jones is openly gay, we got our sources from his Biography "Jonestown" by Chris Masters and an article from The Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian. We realise now these are all secondary sources, so apologies for our wording. Alan Jones however is a strong defender of gay marriage and we have nothing but respect for him on this subject. 2) We compare Wiccans to devil worshippers, the articles we read said some do worship Satan. We don't condemn Wiccans on any level, worshippers of Satan or not, the point was really to show that one religion doesn't own Marriage, it's all open and inclusive for everyone except same sex couples. So appologies for any confusion or misinformation. If someone can DM me a good article on what represents Wiccans ill post it up here! This is a good point, but again we're comedians not journalists and I accept we could have used more inclusive wording, but this is a learning experience for us too. 4) We mixed up a Bible verse, we say that the Bible says you can cut off a woman's hand for teaching, but this is for grabbing a man's genitals while her husband is fighting another man Deuteronomy 25:12. The teaching quote is separate "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." Timothy 2:12. Overall I hope you guys are digging the message!
