16.01.2022 This Subaru Forester had it's 100000km timing belt and water pump service at another 'non Subaru specialist' workshop and had an obscene amount of silicone applied to the water pump which resulted in a massive blockage in the heater core, radiator and head gaskets. Resulting in major engine damage, the radiator had been replaced only three weeks ago by another workshop. The customer was complaining of overheating. ... After investigating the condition of the radiator we found that due to silicone sealant being over used it then came loose and blocked the radiator, head gaskets and heater core.

10.01.2022 This is what can happen if you only change the timing belt and not inspect or replace the bearings . This failed 4000km after the timing belt was changed. He was lucky he stopped before it caused more damage to the engine .... We always replace a full timing belt kit/water pump. He was very lucky it did not bend the valves. He says he will now only go to a Subaru specialist !
