You might never know until that abscess or a whole limb needs to be trimmed from the carcass, costing you money. Certain abattoirs monitor sheep for signs of cheesy gland and provide feedback to producers. Find out more at: https://bit.ly/3c7GryR

04.01.2022 Bird owners need to follow good biosecurity practices to limit the spread of avian influenza, which has been confirmed in Golden Plains Shire and near Bairnsdal...e. Always protect your birds: Restrict contact between kept birds and wild birds. Keep poultry sheds, equipment, yards and aviaries clean. Quarantine new birds before introducing them to the resident flock. Limit visitors to your birds. Always wash hands before and after handling birds and eggs. Change into clean footwear before entering poultry houses or hen facilities, to stop the potential transfer of disease from outside. Move birds, if you can, a suitable building, like a shed or outbuilding adapted to house them, or a new temporary structure. Place netting over openings to stop wild birds getting in and remove any hazardous substances. Where housing is not practicable, steps should be taken to separate poultry and their food and drink from wild birds that may be carrying avian influenza (e.g. by using netting).
