25.01.2022 A new year, a new start. After some quality design time spent with a customer last year, we got to start the new year with setting out their major home extension and renovation. Managing split levels and flood zones was definitely not an easy way to glide into the new year but nothing we couldn’t solve.

20.01.2022 Another beautiful timber floor coming together. The split levels and timber stairs will provide a lovely feature.

19.01.2022 The roof is on with windows and doors installed. Once the cladding is on, this extension will be at "lock up" stage and look a bit more like a real house from the outside.

18.01.2022 When extending a house, it’s not always possible to buy cladding to match the existing home. Architectural cladding can be used as a buffer between two similar but not quite the same cladding styles. Besides architectural cladding being a great feature in it's own right, this doubles as a distraction from the subtle differences.

16.01.2022 This is the completion of the base stage of this major renovation. This is one of the major milestones for new homes and major renovations with construction moving onto the next stage frame. Time to start putting some walls up and getting some extra dimension to this extension.

15.01.2022 Frame stage is in full swing. All walls are up with roof trusses, tie downs and bracing to go. Once permanently braced, all the temporary bracing comes off. So much happens in such a short time during the early stages of the build. Very exciting times.

10.01.2022 This extension has Weathertex Primelok boards for it’s cladding. This will look great once painted and give some continuity with the existing house. Reconstituted timber cladding is one of the most sustainable building products around with minimal waste during manufacturing, low embodied energy to produce and the trees absorbing and capturing carbon as they grow. It is also reasonably priced, easy to install and requires no special tools. This makes it not only good for the environment but good for the budget too.

10.01.2022 Last year we had the pleasure of building a new holiday home in River Heads called Monaro House. With breath taking views across the Sandy Straights over to Fraser Island, this house has been built to be spacious, breezy and take full advantage of the views. Accessibility was an important focus for the owners allowing for large rooms, over sized 870mm doors and showers big enough for wheelchairs. 07.01.2022 AWARD WINNING BUILDER J A Ridgley Building Services managed to take home the Custom Built Home $400,001 -$550,000 category at the 2019 HIA - CSR Townsville & Central QLD Housing, Kitchen & Bathroom Awards. We built a beautiful home for Brad and Elli in Kalapa, west of Rockhampton which the judges thought was tops. 07.01.2022 J A Ridgley Building Services would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday. After a busy and successful 2019, we will be closed until 13/01/2020 to recharge the batteries to prepare another year of exciting projects.
