25.01.2022 Happy #internationalwomensday2021 !! Here I am with one of the special little women in my life. I truly feel the weight of responsibility in raising the next generation of strong, resilient, aware and compassionate women. Whilst I feel so much has changed already even in my lifetime we still have a ways to go. I was lucky enough to attend a women's brunch this morning where the deputy CEO of the Mindaroo Foundation informed us '1 in 135 women worldwide live in slavery'. 1 i...n 135?! How lucky we are compared to so many. Love, adore and build up the women in your life for we are all blessed to have each other. I know I wouldn't be half the person I am today without my special 'tribe'

23.01.2022 This is an interesting quote. Self sabotage and poor habits creep into everyones lives. As we approach the craziest time of year move past the guilt, enjoy and relax! However, dont let this way of eating and drinking become your everyday lifestyle- you dont enjoy it as much anyway when it becomes a coping mechanism. How do you change your habits and mindset when you need too?

23.01.2022 I have a family member with a soft tissue injury and joint inflammation so I spent my Saturday morning whipping up a lotion for pain relief, reduction of inflammation and healing promotion of soft tissue injury. Im told it was instant relief! Thanks herbs!!

21.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/169570806452844/posts/1933912180018689/ Know the risks of prescription medications you are prescribed. The pill is often prescibed to young teens suffering with acne and period pain which is just a band aid, not a cure for these issues and cause more problems later on.

21.01.2022 This is a fabulous little case example of an 11 year old boy and his hair tissue mineral analysis results. Hair can give us a longer term snapshot of heavy metal and mineral status compared to blood serum results. Such a fascinating area I'm getting into more and more. Also great for those who are nervous with blood tests/needles! I only charge cost price for this test which is $132 and a consult with me is needed to interpret and explain to you the results.

20.01.2022 Gorgeous batch of Phytolacca americana ointment I whipped up last night. My kitchen smells amazing!!

20.01.2022 Happy Busselton Mardi Gras 2021! Fabulous performers and atmosphere! Sending lots of love to our lgbtqi+ community #busseltonmardigras #inclusionmatters ... #naturopath #herbalist #busselton See more

20.01.2022 Ripper little article on sneaking some more activity into your day. Any other tips?

20.01.2022 Happy International Womens Day! Women have so much on their plate nowadays and external pressures- Im feeling it too! Look after the women in your life and tell them you love them, appreciate them and are here for them. A woman in all her power is a beauty to behold- wear your feminiinity with pride ladies and celebrate!

18.01.2022 Did my first metacon/crossfit workout ever this morning and got absolutely punished! Thank goodness for these superfit ladies who carried us over the line! I ha...ve not done any serious exercise for 3 years and at one stage thought I could see through time! 3 years ago I was down to 20% bodyfat and considered myself fit but it just goes to show you can work so hard to achieve fitnness and lose it so quickly. I am lucky that I have a good diet and optimum nutrition has kept me going all this time but it wont stop you from peeing your pants or vomiting when you start exercising again See more

15.01.2022 Happy Herbalist Day! Plants make our lives all the more rich!

15.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all! Thankyou so much to my beautiful clients this year! Im pretty slack with posting on social media but I just wanted to say thanks for all the support. You truly are inspirational and I am grateful to you all for your trust and confidence in me. Sending everyone lots of love. Cass x

14.01.2022 Asthma. I was asked ages ago to do a post on asthma but I am so slack with social media!! One of my goals this year was to get off my butt and make the effort! So whilst Naturopaths cant claim to actively treat asthma, we can treat the person, reduce complication, and build up immunity and overall vitality. Please do not ever discontinue your asthma medication and always consult your GP for advice Some key things we look at; - Avoidance of triggers. These vary from person t...o person but include; exercise, changes in season/weather, inhaled irritants (such as perfumes, chlorine, smoke, aerosols), inhaled allergens (such as pet hair, pollens, fungi, mold and dust mites), viral infection and stress. - Diet. Avoidance of those foods which encourage mucous buildup such as dairy and sugar. Gastrointestinal symptoms and leaky gut are common in children with asthma so gut health and reduction of inflammatory food is a must. Some common dietary triggers of asthma include; wheat, nuts, milk, eggs, seafood, food colourings, MSG and sulphites such as those in grapes and dried fruit. Key inclusions include; garlic, onions and shallots. Apple cider vinegar. These are well studied respiratory tonics and provide immune support. - Immune system support. Support of the immune system with necessary herbs and nutrients is essential to reduce incidence of colds and flu- known asthma triggers, and to balance the inflammatory cascade implicated in bronchoconstriction. - Nervous system support. Reducing stress is a must! - Some key nutrients to help with asthma control include; vitamin C, Omega-3 fatty acids for inflammation, Vitamin A for mucosal integrity and Zinc. We have many herbs also in our arsenal dependent on the individual and their symptoms. - Key herbs for immune balance, histamine response and lung function include; astragalus, baical skullcap, albizzia and adhatoda. - Breathing retraining. A referral to a Buteyko breathing trainer may be beneficial for some and also reduce incidence. I hope I have given you a quick little insight into my approach! This is of course just a little snippet and I am happy to chat if you have any further questions. Cass x

14.01.2022 Dont forget to take some much needed time out this silly season!

11.01.2022 Quick little scoot around the clinic to show you where we are

10.01.2022 My perspective on the COVID-19 virus; I am noticing lots of increased anxiety amongst the general public in regards to the mixed messages presented by the media and our government. Please allow yourself to take some time out, switch off and decompress. Anxiety and panic put your body into fight or flight mode and increase the stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol- this is not good for the immune system, mood or digestion. Take some time out and read a book, hang o...Continue reading

10.01.2022 Feeling like this lately? I know I can go through periods like this when life is busy and stress is high! Take the time to listen and give your body what it needs...

10.01.2022 Excited to be involved in Crazyfit Boxings challenge!

10.01.2022 Whilst the ketogenic diet isnt for everyone its great to see the research coming into the mainstream. Naturopaths have been using this diet successfully now for years for a range of disorders.

09.01.2022 I couldnt agree more!!

09.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/182509696952/posts/10156587423831953/ This is so unfair when you consider Natural Medicine/ Complementary Medicine saves the government an estimated 6 billion dollars a year!

08.01.2022 Just a reminder that despite my shameless neglect to my social media pages Im still here and available for consultations. Please get in touch if you cant make it into the clinic as Phone or Skype consults are available. Cass :)

07.01.2022 Magnesium- is it over rated? This is a question I am commonly asked so thought I would write a little post about it touching on the basics... Speak to most health conscious people nowadays and a common supplement many take is Magnesium. But which is best? Powders, capsules, Epsom salts, mag chloride flakes or topical sprays? Magnesium comes in many different forms and arent suitable for everyone depending on their individual constitution, reason for prescribing and age etc. ...A common misconception I see is people using topical sprays to lift their serum magnesium levels- there is limited evidence for this and whilst it can be effective for external relief such as aching muscles, internal supplementation is the only way to increase levels. Magnesium is necessary for many enzymatic processes in the body and sadly even if you eat exceptionally well its more than likely your levels will be suboptimal. Australian soils are very poor in magnesium due to our very old soil- compare this to somewhere volcanic with very rich soil, think Sicily or Iceland! Common signs of magnesium deficiency include; eye twitching, cramping, restless legs, slow recovery from exertion or exercise, fatigue, lowered stress resistance, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, glucose intolerance and insulin resistance to name a few! When the body is in fight or flight mode we use increased amounts of magnesium to counteract the adrenal hormones when the threat is over, thus if you are experiencing high levels of stress (either external or within the body) supplementation may be necessary. Good food sources include; almonds, leafy greens, cocoa, kelp, cashews, wheat bran, brewers yeast and buckwheat. If you have any questions or want to have a chat about one of my favourite topics please get in touch! Cass :)

07.01.2022 This is just so perfect! Just be the best you can be! Striving for physical perfection is not the goal- health and happiness is! https://www.facebook.com/129747493747293/posts/1986327611422596/

07.01.2022 Every person on this planet is a work in progress be kind to yourself on this journey.

06.01.2022 Keep getting out in that sunshine people!!

04.01.2022 Many of us have done this before: a quick online search of some symptoms and a visit to the chemist, after a diagnosis by Dr Google. But how safe is this practi...ce and are you getting the supplement you actually need, or are you overlooking a potentially serious health problem? Here are 7 reasons why you should avoid self-diagnosis and consult a qualified natural health practitioner. See more

03.01.2022 With all of the talk around the new year and the goal setting, resolutions etc I thought this was a fresh perspective. Regardless of what you think of Russel Brand his message is on point

02.01.2022 Many of the health conditions you might see a GP for can be supported effectively and holistically by a qualified natural health practitioner.

01.01.2022 Another reason to keep reading those food labels!

01.01.2022 Solid advice I reckon

01.01.2022 Do you use chia seeds? They are a fantastic addition to the diet as they are a nutritional powerhouse containing anti-inflammatory omega 3 fatty acids, protein, fibre, and minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc! Be sure to soak them first however as they do swell when moisture is added- this can happen in your gut causing bloating. Add them to smoothies, baked goodies or a chia seed pudding. I have even used them very successfully as a substitute for eggs in muffins when I had run out! Sometimes good things really do come in small packages!

01.01.2022 This is fantastic news!! Hopefully this will lead to a diagnosis and acknowledgement for sufferers
