10.01.2022 Message To My Girl by Split Enz (Neil Finn) Live Acoustic Cover Version by Jarrod Murphy 2020 Released in 1983 on the album ‘Conflicting Emotions’... I can’t over state the impact this song had on me when I first heard and saw it on a Saturday morning music video show on the telly. It’s groove, it’s sentiment, it’s perfect delivery all just made me sit in awe of it’s mastery. And the video clip of Neil just casually, and with typical Neil daggy swagger, strolling through a decked out studio with all the expected Split Enz colour and artistic display. Me in my PJs with my rubik’s cube in hand fixated. It has endured the test of time and in my estimate stands up as one of the greatest songs written. It remains a staple in my live sets and always gets the reaction of love and nostalgia that I expect it to from the audience. Killer. 07.01.2022 So here is a question to the ... dare I say ... masses ... if I’m to do a full album FB live show of releases from my back catalogue of original music... start to finish, which would you like to hear? Maybe they will all get a run... but which first? SMLXL size? MAJOR montezuma? THE COPS drop it? PELICAN JED boofeggs? Etc... What do ya reckon... ??? This is research into where I should invest time. Not a grab for compliments... however I do love a good hug.

02.01.2022 Under The Milky Way by The Church Live Acoustic Cover Version by Jarrod Murphy 2020 Released in 1988 on the album ‘Starfish’.... I was once a long haired, paisley shirt, pointy shoe wearing type young chap who devoured everything indie pop and this album Starfish was large on my radar in high school. It still is very much one of my favourite albums and totally holds up as a true adventurous guitar sonic pop classic. Kilbey’s voice is in a lower register than mine so this version is a bit of a rework I may get around to giving it a full band recording treatment one day.
