25.01.2022 With last weeks deluge, weaknesses in electrical systems have been popping up everywhere. Three customers have had very similar problems with their 4 pole safety switch at the heart of the issue. Theyve been used to protect multiple circuits and have been overloaded. Moisture gets in and pushes that little bit more and POP! Now, this board has each power circuit protected by its own safety switch (RCD) circuit breaker. The service fuse is still the old 70amp silver fuse and the main switch is now an 80amp switch where the old one was a 55amp switch. This was the weak/danger point: the premise could use up to 70amps through a 55amp switch. Now if theres an earth fault the individual circuit breaker will trip and be easier for the owner to find (as its usually an appliance).
25.01.2022 With all this rain, now is a very good time for your water tank pumps and float switches to be checked and maintained.
25.01.2022 Chasing cowboys again. Find, fix and repair lighting fault plus fix laziness by putting outlets in numerical order.
24.01.2022 A very user friendly time clock I installed recently by PDL. 7 day/weekend/weekday settings manual button. Only missing a backlit screen.
23.01.2022 Finally got back to the UNSW to see my lights under the cover of darkness. Very pleased.
22.01.2022 If I wasnt an LED strip lighting expert before, I certainly am now!
22.01.2022 75 inch mounted! Finally. Fit the bracket, as youd expect, central in the cabinet (plus additional bracing behind. SQUEEZIE!!) Hung the tv only to find the mounts on the tv are offset, making it too low. Take back off, remove bracket, get back in the hole and raise the bracing 55mm, remount bracket, remount tv and measure. 120mm at the top and 118mm at the bottom. Remove and box up again so the builder can complete the plastering. Phew!
22.01.2022 Apprentices teaching apprentices. What could possibly go wrong!
22.01.2022 I carried out this install many weeks ago but handover is only happening now. The antenna guy has been in and the owner too adding bits and generally leaving it a mess. After working my magic, all the patch leads tidied up and was able to put the glass door back on and close it. Happy customer again.
20.01.2022 BOOM . Attended a residence that had lost half its power. On initial inspection a 100 amp service fuse had blown. A quick run to the wholesalers for a replacement...installed and test for power. All looks ok. Turned all the breakers back on and go inside to still find some power outlets not working. Ran my voltmeter across both both sides of all the breakers to find one terminal of the old style safety switch to not have power. The customer was holding an umbrella over u...s, and as I said, its this old thing, touching it with my index finger, KABOOM! Its internals shorted out, letting out a nice big flash and pop followed by a puff of smoke. I didnt get a shock, just scared the crap out of us both. Was able to temporarily install a couple of two pole RCD breakers and get everything up and running overnight. Today Ill be replacing the 4 pole safety switch and breakers with single pole RCD (safety switches) circuit breakers and cleaning up the wires. See more
20.01.2022 For when sound quality is paramount. This setup is in the zone 2 of a multi zone 5.1 surround sound system. I like this look. The grills magnetically clip on.
19.01.2022 Water cooled light anyone? I didnt realise it was full until I took it down.
19.01.2022 Please leave it to the professionals.
18.01.2022 Taking over sites are always fun, especially when the guy before doesnt know basic maths. Measure, calculate, measure twice and cut once. 12 evenly spaced down lights and 5 speakers marked up. Now to double check the ceiling spaces...
18.01.2022 Whos got a keen eye for this cowboy job?!
18.01.2022 Just saw this on another page. Peoples comments about how theyve been shocked several times and theyre still here. Read my lips!: YOU ARE ONE SHOCK AWAY FROM DEAD OR BURNING YOUR HOME DOWN. STOP IT. Please, call a professional, like myself, and have whatever you need done in a safe manner.
18.01.2022 Some mirrors and a print with LED back lighting we installed recently. Me likes.
17.01.2022 Gotta love an induction cooktop
15.01.2022 Friday arvo special
14.01.2022 Water getting into everything at the moment. Be safe. If a fuse pops or breaker trips...who you gonna call?
14.01.2022 Who’s got a keen eye for this cowboy job?!
12.01.2022 A test of integrity and ethics: Had an elderly woman call me yesterday wanting a quote to move her phone outlet. Went there this morning and found her Optus modem on top of the sideboard and the power and phone outlet down at the usual height behind the sideboard. She was complaining that every time she calls support they ask her to unplug it from the wall and turn the modem off. I showed her that unplugging the cables at the back of the modem or switching the modem of using ...the switch on the modem was the same as doing it at the wall. She said I did myself out of work. I replied, true but I could do the work full knowing there was no need for it. She was very pleased and looked like she had something else to tell me...then the smoke detector beeped the flat battery beep. I asked if shed like me to change it and she said yes. As I was doing so, she said that she was my dads cousin! Hed spoken of an Elsa, but she lived in south Cronulla. Shes now widowed and moved. Got to see some photos of nana when she was young and had a good chat. Just goes to show you that you should always do the right thing as someone will be watching. See more
12.01.2022 New pathway lights at UNSW.
12.01.2022 Nearly picked up this apprentice today
11.01.2022 6.7m led under the stone hearth looks a treat. Cant wait till the cabinets are completed so I can install the Cable Clear ducting system for the TV cables and hook up the Onkyo 7.2 AV receiver to the Samsung 75 inch 4K TV!
11.01.2022 Took over this large residential job. Found all the cables through the plaster in the worst way. No idea why theyd have done that. Anyway, I managed to mount the distribution board and data cabinet below the shelf and feed the cables down the cavity not the boards. Next task is the alarm panel and a second alarm panel to house the free to air antenna terminations.
11.01.2022 Hi end builds require hi end solutions. Here, the two heat bar feeds are run in one 25mm conduit. We drilled through the RSJs to keep the conduit hidden as best as possible and installed conduit T pieces to poke through the RSJ to discretely connect the flex cable lead to the power. Conduit is bent slightly to make it sit in the corner and extends to the next heat bar location. This is mirrored over the adjacent doorway. The builder was very happy. Just waiting on the painters before I mount and connect the four heat bars.
10.01.2022 Nice way to start a Sunday. Call out to a new unit with no power. Found main switch in the distribution board tripped. Reset and go through the individual circuits and the lights breaker pops. Start pulling down lights and find this! Easy repair but how’s the workmanship!? 100 yard guarantee right there!
10.01.2022 Who can spot the classic, not my job here.
10.01.2022 And they both probably had similar marks in high school....
08.01.2022 This could be your house. Nearly all of us has a bathroom light with an exhaust fan. Got a complaint that this one wasnt sucking anymore. Years of neglect (dont be embarrassed). We only need them to give us light or heat in winter and suck the steamy air out 2-6 times a day, but when they stop... Not only is it a fire hazard but that dust can be a health hazard too. A simple service call to clean and inspect the unit could save you in the long run. Give me a call to schedule a time to suit you.
07.01.2022 Nice big patio? You need a nice big fan....and a pair of heat bars.
07.01.2022 28kg chandelier!
06.01.2022 Pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
06.01.2022 For the second time, stick a fork in me, I’m cooked! New NBN conduit installed. Trench tape and backfillled from property to pole so far. If you’re gonna do it, do it right.
05.01.2022 Installed 2 of 4, Italian light fittings. $3k each!!! DONT DROP. Wasnt impressed when I was told they cost so much, but, on unpacking and mounting them up, they are great looking.
05.01.2022 What an evening in Sydney. The wind blew and the rain certainly fell. If you have no power or a safety switch that wont stay on, water has come in somewhere. Please call the experts (ME ) to get things back on track. Theres no second chance playing with electricity.
05.01.2022 Totally different lifestyle th ultra rich have. One flies in on his chopper, this one will have a cricket pitch!

01.01.2022 This high end reno in Mittagong is sadly coming to an end soon. Only the gym to complete....unless they do more.... Getting great compliments from the builder and the property manager:the difference from those other guys and Jason is, he cares. Ill take that. I do.
