25.01.2022 I’m like Aretha Franklin in reverse. I started out gigging and ended up playing in church.

25.01.2022 The gig last night had some fun moments - a little girl tap dancing in sequined tap shoes, a couple in their 80s getting up to dance, playing Slim Dusty's Lights on the Hill for the birthday boy, a delighted family who'd booked me, and smashing out a Weezer inspired Take On Me by looking it up on my phone mid-gig and just going for it, were definite highlights. But I came home determined that my retirement from the live music game is going to be permanent My heart's just not... in it any more. Stage invasions by people "who are great singers" or "really good guitarists" or just want to dance, aka grab the singer inappropriately (happens more often than you'd think), people who've drunk too much, indifferent venue hosts, the Netflix/Uber Eats decimation of live music, payment rates that have barely moved since the 1990s, wear and tear on my car/gear/my old bones, etc. It's honestly doesn't feel like it's worth the time or effort. To that end, I'm selling up my PA and a bunch of other gear that will otherwise start to gather dust and might as well be used by someone else.

25.01.2022 Has been my main gigging guitar since I bought it in 2017. I've just had a pick up fitted to a small body Larrivee, for playing at church, so this gorgeous lump of koa perfection needs to go to a home where it'll be played.

24.01.2022 About to kick off at the Alfredton Memorial Bowling Club for member Mick’s 60th birthday.

24.01.2022 It's time to let someone else have this rockabilly machine - my 1990 '59 Fender Bassman amp...

21.01.2022 First John Farnham-esque comeback locked in - private birthday party gig coming up. The gentleman is a Slim Dusty fan, so time to learn my Dad’s favourite Lights on the Hill.

17.01.2022 The insanely talented luthier Allan Searle at Searls Guitars did some work on two of my guitars this week - a WWII era 1942 Gretsch Synchromatic 200 and a modern Taylor guitar made from Hawaiian koa. Both guitars are now playing better than ever! You’ll get to hear the Taylor in action on the 23rd November at the Farmers Arms in Creswick.

15.01.2022 I'll be playing a quick 30 minute set at the Ballarat Foundation's Run for a Cause on the main stage at the event village in Victoria Park at 11:15am on Sunday 18 November.

14.01.2022 With large swathes of the great brown land on fire and thousands of people and millions of animals suffering, the folks down at the Grapes Hotel on the corner of Grant and Humffray Streets in Ballarat are putting on a fundraising evening this Friday, 10 January. Kicking off at 6:00pm, there will be raffles, auctions and donation baskets, and live music after the restaurant has finished serving dinners. At 8:00pm I'll be hitting the stage for an hour of acoustic music and cra...ppy dad jokes, followed by talented Shaun McKeegan and Nik Hartley. Let's raise the roof and raise some much needed donations to support those who have been affected by this natural disaster. You can find out details of the event and register your attendance here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1768210726647982/

13.01.2022 Thanks to Darren Garth (Guitar Emporium) for generously giving me an original 60’s grub screw for one of the bridge saddles, and Allan Searls (Searls Guitars) for skilfully serving our 1963 Stratocaster. It is looking, playing and sounding better than ever.

12.01.2022 With my shoulder still not recovered fully, I'm unable to set up my PA (the speakers are too heavy), so I'm going to call it quits on performing. I've accepted one final gig at the fabulous Farmers Arms in Creswick (they have an in-house PA). It's on Friday 23 November and I'll be playing from 8:30pm until midnight. Unless I pull a Johnny Farnham - this could be your last chance to hear me play.

11.01.2022 Grease is the word! Come along this weekend (two performances Saturday and one Sunday) to this great local production. I'll be singing Born To Hand Jive, plus a couple more songs, while the superstars from the Curtain Call Performing Arts Studios dance up a storm. Tickets available here (the show is almost sold out!): https://www.trybooking.com/book/sessions?eid=404181 ... https://www.facebook.com/curtaincallpas/videos/1005306192984754/

09.01.2022 Ready to rock and roll at the Farmer’s Arms in Creswick

09.01.2022 Tonight’s the night. My last show...

08.01.2022 Allan Searls fitted a K&K mini pickup to the newest guitar in the Fletcher household and the little Larrivee sang like an angel through our trusty Fender Bassman at St Alipius this weekend.

08.01.2022 Had a blast playing Johnny Casino in Curtain Call's production of Grease this weekend.

08.01.2022 In preparation for an upcoming gig (might have to play ukulele if my arm is still knackered) and due to my dwindling supply of Gonna Ball 20th anniversary picks...

03.01.2022 Any requests for my last gig in Friday night? Let me know what you’d like to hear. Strangely I often get asked if I know any Metallica songs. I don’t, so choose from this list (or any random Gonna Ball standards I haven’t included) - http://www.fletchworld.com/songs

02.01.2022 No room at the inn? Here early to set up for my nephew’s daughter’s baptism and the church is locked.
