16.01.2022 Thank you to those who attended our recent Practice #IMPACT online workshop exploring the topic of the VITAL SIGNS of practice performance". Together in this workshop we explored some basic concepts of lead and lag indicators; the value of the balanced scorecard; and how to interpret financial metrics using the ‘financial fence’. We also heard from a number of people at the coal-face who use different measures in assessing practice health in the categories of clinical, cultural and commercial performance. We finished with understanding the importance of a ‘freedom score’, and each were left with the challenge of building their own dashboard of 5-10 key metrics to drive the health of their local vision and strategy. The recording will reveal many other great insights shared by the workshop participants. So much more we could have covered, but it was an hour well spent. ---------------------------------------------- Next month, we are going to extend on this topic by exploring the Patient-Centric Dilemma of which is more important: Customer Service or Clinical Effectiveness? Some practical definitions of patient-centred care; the importance of setting expectations with our clients; knowing who the real customer is, if at times it’s not the patient as there are lots of stakeholders in the health-chain; and identifying what patient beliefs drive their experience. I shared that Back In Motion undertook our own client research and found that patients value highly 11 striking attributes in their practitioners. Furthermore, we discussed that different demographics and patient profiles value different things from their practitioners. We finished with the challenge to consider more deeply what we mean by patient-centred care, and to build strategies to drive both customer experience and clinical results!
