25.01.2022 Overnight stop on the riverbank at The (Northern) Bend Campsite outside of Coen. Jays lovinh being able to have a fire. Very peaceful after a day of corrugation. Especially with drink in hand.

25.01.2022 31-July. Sadly had to change plans and head back to Cairns as issues with fridge/freezer and didnt want to lose all food. To say having a hot shower, not that had too many bad amenities along the way, big wash and sleep in a bed feels amazing. Few extra photos along the way. Will test you but highly recommend.

22.01.2022 Wow... impressive to say the least. Cruising along and typical inland dry landacape surrounding when all of sudden come upon these granite boulders. Fascinating to read how formed and their cultural significance.

19.01.2022 Well.... WE MADE IT !!! Bit of a billy goat trek to get there, and certainly made it all worthwhile for the last few blah days I was having. Views were absolutely amazing and soooooo worth it. Jays had a beer for his dad and we.took a bit of time to reflect on life . Its an absolute must do, and oh yes we had to buy a shirt. #capeyork2019. #livingthedream

19.01.2022 Nathan Whippy Griggs in action. 3 times World Guiness Record holder. 1 for longest whip crack 100M and this one.for # of cracks prr minute 600.

17.01.2022 In Atherton dodging the rain with little success. Quick stop to see the famous Curtain Tree Fig. One of natures true beauties.

16.01.2022 Well just landed and setup in Bowen, making little tweaks to our setup each time. First leg we was Mackay, very much like home, Gladstone but on a larger scale. Yesterday we did a day trip to Eungella National Park and Eungella Dam. Beautiful drive up, nothing beats the fresh air and tranquility of a rainforest. Only spotted one platypus at a distance but hey one was better than none.

12.01.2022 Greetings from Julia Creek. Spoil day today and had a bath. Best $$ spent sitting in bath with drinkies and nibbles admiring the out beautiful outback. Such a cute little town with wonderful locals, add to your must see.

09.01.2022 Doesnt get much Aussie than Lions Den Hotel, and of course had to have a quick beer

09.01.2022 Todays travels took us via dinosaur country... Richmond (Kronosaurus Korner) nd Hughenden and WOW!! Most fascinating thing was the 100 million year old fossil which was 99% in tact. The Richmond area back in this time was mostly water and now they are in drought. All the people here are true blue aussie. All so polite and always with a smile. Sorry for excess fossil pics but truly amazing. Definate must see.

08.01.2022 Another joyous corrugated driving today. Left Weipa and stopping at Jardine River Campground, just at Ferry landing for the night. Long day and dare say the phrases, "Are we there yet", "Thank god for bitumen", and "oh shit here we go again" got said a lot today. Most patches were good just some worse than others. Thankfully were in a 4WD. Had to help some people in a 2WD minivan, that I didnt envy and felt better about our ride. Anyways, beautiful spot to camp tonight and onwards again tomorrow. #livingthedream

07.01.2022 Well.. back on the road after 3 nights in Cairns living the motel life, well washing up a storm (car, camper, clothes, bedding) and back in the road. 1st stop (3-Aug) was Pinnarendi Station Stay & Cafe. Family owned property, 5th generation and offer their property to travellers. Bit of a late arrival and early departure. Lovely family and recommend. They are well known for the pizzas. Next (4-Aug) Croydon. Very old and cute town. Had to visit local pub to watch Dragons V P...arra. Jays not impressed by game but hey we stayed to full time which was saying something, and yes was reffing from the bar stool. Crowd consisted of us and the bar girl for 1st half of game then few locals came in. Now (5-Aug) Karumba. Heard so many stories about this place from an ex colleague. Small fishing town. 2 pubs, split suburb, golf club, town pool and bowls club based on what seen so far. Jays planning on more fishing and r&r for this old gals foot. Weve been lucky all places stayed or stopped at have been lovely and makes you appreciate and realise how beautiful and amazing this country is of ours. So many characters and whilst were travellers the town folk are always in for a chat and so helpful. We try and support local business as much as can.

07.01.2022 Just arrived to Cooktown. Pub tea tonight (roast beef & veg...yummo). Quick look around and admire the beautiful sunset.

05.01.2022 Jays called it date night watching the sunset, on a boat with drink in hand. Never mind the crocodile watching on. Lovely afternoon on the sunset cruise with Western Cape Eco Tours in Weipa. Photos certainly didnt do the sunset justice. Actually felt a bit homesick today coming in with Port on one side and bauxite everywhere

04.01.2022 Nothing like bit of celebrity spotting on holiday. The guys from 4WD Australia passed through Musgrave on their way home. Certainly makes up for the rough corrugated drive from Weipa south. Boys laughing at me for stalking, excuse me there were more blokes standing around checking their rigs out in true bloke style.

04.01.2022 Well... the day has come to say see ya Gladdy and start our next adventure touring Oz in our new home/camper. Car is absolute chockers so no stowaways, sorry dad. And yes Ive gone through a box of tissues saying see ya to the family and our amazing kids Luke and Chloe. Thank you all for the wonderful friendships and memories. Heres to embracing and living life to the fullest.

03.01.2022 Had a very patriotic morning at Waltzing Matilta Center in Winton. Well worth the visit. Comment on a video... "no matter where you are in the world, when you hear Waltzing Matilda being sang you get emotional and are a proud aussie, and of course sing along", have to say most definately!!. Today just cements to me, how extremely grateful and proud to be an aussie but also what amazing country we live in.

02.01.2022 Oh if we must... Happy Hour Here for a week.so heres hoping a feed of fish and dodge a crocodile or 2. Big trap set across creek so see what happens.

01.01.2022 Well.. 2 months ago today we set off on our travels around Oz and here we are in Mt Isa. Weve had a ball along the way, except the foot but thats just part of the journey. Weve met some amazing people from all walks. Some proving age is no barrier or your current situation in life... they are embracing and celebrating each day they are here. Couples : early 70s going to Cape in a 4WD and camping in tents; 72 & 74 cycling along the red dirt/ corrugated road from Cairns t...o Bamaga and not doing Tip (that close but not on their agenda) and just yesterday a family of brothers and sisters all late 60 completing their ride around Aus. Sadly 1 brother cant do this leg of ride (Darwin to Gold Coast) as has cancer and on morphine but hes doing driving. They arent letting anything stopping them living their dreams. Weve seen some amazing sites and absolutely adore this wonderful country we live in. Too many to pinpoint one but Cape is there as well as all the small towns weve stayed at or called into. Our photos are the highlights. Jays and I are still besties even though stuck with each other in some what confined space... ha ha ... but its been wonderful and great for us. Miss all family and friends like mad but technology makes up for it. Next to Barkly Station and down to Alice Springs for a while. Family there whom cant wait to see and catch up with but also explore that region. Heres cheers to loving the good life and living your dreams.

01.01.2022 Beer and pie for lunch at Walkabout Creek Hotel. One of Aussies icon places and of course movie. Well worth a visit.

01.01.2022 Quick stop and cold beer at Blue Heeler Pub, Kynuna. Cute little stop with cold bert, well worth a look. Even saw a few fair dinkum Cowboys and Cowgirl. Yeehaa!!

01.01.2022 26-July. Stopped and hobbled into Fruit Bat Falls for a quick stop. Jays went for a dip and slip. The amount of water cascading down was amazing. Beautiful pit stop.
