24.01.2022 #Nandos has partnered with Supportact to help as the Aussie #music charity provide coronavirus relief grants to #artists, #crew and industry #workers. Even as some gathering restrictions and social distancing measures are relaxed in some parts of Australia, the live industry continues to suffer for lack of tours, and so the restaurant chain has pledged to provide 15,000 meals to help feed Support Act grant recipients. Support Act recently pushed the number of crisis relief grants for music professionals higher, following a funding injection from the Australian Government through the Office for the Arts. Almost $1 million has been given out in grants to over 400 artists, crew and music workers Australia-wide, and Nandos has now provided 15,000 meals to the tune of $200,000.
22.01.2022 Slightly ironic that 35 years ago the Live Events industry was helping to "Feed the World" and now its the live events industry that needs feeding. #WeMakeEvents #LetTheMusicPlay #LiveAid35 #AidLive
21.01.2022 Weekend reminder: Speaking of #grants the #arts & #entertainment sector still dont have any. That includes the #tradies who work #backstage building sets & whatnot according to #Morrison. Support Act and CrewCare provide help lines and financial support for our industry. If this is you, or someone you know, Support Act invites you to apply for a COVID-19 Crisis Relief Grant. The grant can be applied to payment of rent/mortgage, food, utilities, car maintenance and registration, and medical equipment.

18.01.2022 The Australian Live Music Business Council has announced its formation today, representing the interests of small to medium Australian music enterprises and the thousands of live music jobs they underpin - from booking agents and managers, venues and promoters, through to ticketing companies, poster companies, media, publicists, food vendors, security, music technicians, roadies and many more. The council was created to advocate on behalf of the backstage voices in the Live Music supply chain who play a vital role providing the infrastructure to nurture and expose talent for the entire music economy. https://almbc.org.au/
14.01.2022 In a statement released this morning, Tony Burke MP has stated the programs roll-out has been delayed as its guidelines are yet to be approved by Paul Fletcher "more than six weeks after the Morrison Government announced its much-delayed arts package".
14.01.2022 Sound, light and image technicians from events demonstrate in So Paulo Brazil for protocols for returning to work Professionals took cases they use to store eq...uipment and protested in front of Alesp, this Sunday in the South Zone. Organizers say the pandemic brought blackout. Professionals in the technical area of events, known behind the scenes as "grease", held a protest march this Sunday (2), in the South Zone of the city of So Paulo. Taking the cases they use to work, they demanded a definition of the safety protocols for the sector to resume work during the coronavirus pandemic, among other things. According to the organizers, the coronavirus pandemic brought "the blackouts true nightmare". The groups claim is for an emergency plan for the category and for the revision of laws for the sector, which "no longer meet the reality and needs of the Technical Area". "We are the professionals that no one sees, but without our work, no artist takes the stage, no brand presents its product, no applause will be heard. Yes, we push cases, but we also make the show happen", wrote the professionals in a manifest. During the march, the protesters took the cases used behind the scenes to store the equipment for the assembly of the shows. They performed the act in a row, with distance between the participants, who wore protective masks and held up posters. The group met on Avenida Pedro lvares Cabral, in the vicinity of Ibirapuera Park, passed the Monumento s Bandeiras, and ended in front of the Legislative Assembly of the State of So Paulo (Alesp). What they claim The main demands of the protesters are: - definition of security protocols for the sector to resume work; - emergency assistance until the end of the state of public calamity or until the holding of events is authorized; - training courses for professionals, so that they can act as formal workers; - creation of an Events Committee in the National Tourism Council to identify and discuss issues in the events sector; - creation of a credit line aimed at the events sector, aiming mainly at the payment of payroll and company expenses.

12.01.2022 Introducing an exciting new State Government project in the heart of Perth - with work starting soon on Elevate - Perths biggest rooftop venue. Located atop the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Elevate will be a 500-person venue featuring an open-air sculpture park, a new internal gallery on the roof, an external lift and sky bridge for after-hours access, and amazing views of our city. The Art Gallery has also commissioned an eye-catching 34-metre long artwork that will wr...ap around one-third of the rooftop wall by leading Noongar artist Christopher Pease. The contract for the work has now been awarded - supporting 265 local jobs and fulfilling the commitment we made to pursue this project. Works are set to be completed early next year - but in the meantime have a look at this first look at the project:

09.01.2022 The socioeconomic value of community events should never be underestimated. Agricultural shows, business meetings and incentives, community fora and music events all feed into local economies and provide valuable additional income for local business. The Event Industry have helped in the past in times of Famine, War and National need and our industry can help now. We have the skills and expertise to help communities and business overcome the challenges of reopening, while we wait for a Road Map and a Timeline to be produced for our own sector. #WeAreTheSupportAct #WeAreAFamily

07.01.2022 This morning Im very proud to be able to tell every Western Australian family that the Royal Show will be going ahead this year. Not only that, the State Gove...rnment will support the show by providing funding for a 25 per cent discount on ticket prices for family and adult entry. While there will be some slight differences at this years Show, it will still have all the agriculture, entertainment, displays, animals, food and fireworks we know and love. This year has turned life upside down for so many in our community. Being able to safely have the Royal Show this year is one more exciting step on the road back to normalcy. I encourage everyone to come together and support the Perth Royal Show.

02.01.2022 #eventlife 2020 ... WA #Events Phase 4 update: HEALTH CALENDAR of EVENTS The WA Department of Health is encouraging event #organisers and #local #governments to #register #approved #events. This will be important as the State moves into Phase 4 of the COVID-19 WA Roadmap, as many events previously cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions are likely to be rescheduled, while new events are being planned. The calendar will hopefully also help event organisers ensure their events do not clash with other similar events in their region. An updated events calendar will be published on their web page soon.
