17.01.2022 I am your candidate for Central Ward - Baw Baw Shire Council. As a local young woman who’s made Warragul my home, I’m keen to bring a fresh perspective on council decisions. I’m known as an enthusiastic individual with a passion for people & giving back to my community. I have a deep drive to make the world a better place starting right here. With a Diploma of Marketing and Communications, a Diploma of Nursing, working in the disability support sector and owning a business wi...th proceeds from each purchase going to Mindfull Aus, people know I have a great work ethic and a deep drive to help others every day. As your local councillor, I promise to work hard. I promise to make decisions based on evidence and community needs for the wellbeing of all. I’d like to ensure there are more accessible footpaths for the elderly, parents or those who have ever been in a vulnerable or challenging position. I want to focus on programs that can support people’s mental well-being. I want to support local small businesses coming out of the pandemic. I will always focus on equal opportunities for all. I am really keen to learn as much as I can about all things that matter in the community and act on your behalf. #Vote1JazminTauru

03.01.2022 Thank you for the opportunity to represent you. You will have your ballot paper in the mail and I'd love your #1 vote. Don't forget to number all 5 boxes for your vote to count. I have lived in Warragul most of life and love it here! I have a long family history in the Baw Baw Shire. ... I am passionate about keeping young people in the town. I am driven to improve the mental health industry. I’m keen to see Warragul’s sporting facilities improve as our population increases. I would love to discuss some ideas I have to fast-track the very tough pathway that I have seen first hand for those suffering. Working in the disability sector I am constantly confronted with the challenges people face in our community. I'm determined to be a driving force to make lives easier for these community members. I certainly don't yet know everything about all issues that are important to you, but I can promise I will listen, learn, evaluate and then rationally vote with your councillors based on the best interest of our community. I have had and still currently have some great mentors in my life. My great uncle Kent Wilson was a councillor in Warragul when they put the first lot of parking meters in, in the 70’s. As well as being on the cemetery trust, he also helped with the funding to build the arts centre. My grandfather Grieg Wilson owned multiple businesses within Warragul. Pictured was the Gulwarra petrol station which he ran for 6 years in the 1960’s. It was located on Victoria street where Warragul McDonald’s is now amongst other successful businesses he ran for 30 years. My grandmother Diana Wilson worked at Wilkinson’s for 28 years. A clothing shop which is now String and Salt on Smith street Warrragul. My grandparents were also apart of the old car club for many years. My Mum Shaz Tauru has lived here most of her life and has owned and grown local businesses for 2 decades. My Dad Petri and Step Dad Mark Steggall work locally in the construction industry. Mark has been in civil construction locally for 20 years and works with many developers and local Civil Contractors. He is helping me understand the Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) and Developer Contributions Plan (DCP) amongst other things and it is very interesting. My Aunty Kerry Wilson has served over 15 years in the Baw Baw Shire and I share her passion for great walking and cycling paths and linkages throughout the town. I promise to listen to my community and represent you with my fellow councillors without any conflicts of interest for the betterment of our community. I want younger people to get involved in local government and I'd love to be part of it with your support right now. Vote 1 Jazmin Tauru

03.01.2022 How exciting is this?! Now we need to get funding for women’s change rooms. I’ll certainly be an advocate for this. No one should be getting changed in their car! ... A reminder that the State Government didn’t put in any money for this project which is very disappointing. Leaving it up to the ratepayers. It’s just not good enough!
