19.01.2022 Questions? We've had a few questions so far. These are their answers: Q: How much is the Super Saver Pass?... A: $360 for everyone. Q: Can I take balboa workshops and lindy hop workshops? A: Yes. Plan to do one day in each stream, buy a one day pass for each of those days, and you're sorted. Q: How much are the parties, workshops, everything? A: All that information is on the legit website: http://jazzbang.com.au/ Party prices are on the Party page, pass prices are on the Registration page. 13.01.2022 Tell me about WORKSHOPS at Jazz BANG. Ok. - 2 days of workshops (Saturday and Sunday); - 2 streams of workshops (balboa and lindy hop) running at the same time ...on both days; - Capped class sizes for the best learning; - Nice big venues with natural light and lovely floors; - Working with one teaching couple on both days, so you get to know each other well; - Mixed level classes. Because lindy and bal are _social dances_, we'll be developing our ability to find joy in dancing with _every_ partner. As it says on the Jazz BANG site: In these workshops we shift our emphasis away from dancing through a sequence of steps in perfect repetition, and towards social dancing skills. The challenge for all follows and leads will be: how do you maintain your own sense of rhythm and timing while sharing a dance with a partner? The pleasure for all follows and leads will be: how does sharing a dance increase your creativity and fun? Need more info? Check the Jazz BANG site for venue details, timetables, etc: http://jazzbang.com.au/registration.html

12.01.2022 Fly in on Friday morning and get your tourist on. Sydney is a great tourist city. The harbour and beaches really are that good. There are cafes and bars and res...taurants. There's shopping and walking and cycling. One of my favourite things is visiting White Rabbit Gallery. Another is taking a commuter ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons' Bay and back at sunset. I also like walking up to the Observatory in the Rocks. All this, I don't get bored, and I _live_ here!

12.01.2022 Introducing our special guest teacher from Sweden... Jenny Deurell Specialities: Lindy hop, solo jazz, singing.... 08.01.2022 Do you want to be part of a big dance event? Want to see how two of the most experienced organisers in Australia do things? Been looking at pass prices and had ...a scare? Why not volunteer? Jazz BANG needs your help, with lots of big and little jobs. What could you do? - Work a shift at the door during parties (1 hour or less!) - Set up for a party - Bump out a party - Handle registrations during workshops - Drive teachers around Some jobs take just an hour, some jobs are more complicated. Some maximise your social dancing time, some give you a chance to sit and catch your breath. But all of them will get you free entry to _something_. And Jazz BANG is super serious about good working conditions and safety for volunteers. Here: no one gets exploited. If this sounds like you, email [email protected], or have a chat to Sharon Hanley (that's her in the red shirt in the pic).

06.01.2022 Super Saver Pass block runs for just two weeks: 9am Monday 24 February - 5pm Sunday 8 March. Only $360, these will sell out FAST and there are only limited num...bers. 06.01.2022 Tell me about the parties at Jazz BANG. Right on. 1. Friday night. Ruby's Dance Hall. $30. Kate Wadey's Presidential Holiday.... We introduce our guest artists with a little show, and we social dance like crazy. 2. Saturday night. The Big Dance. $45. Venue is being sorted. Andrew Dickeson's Jazz Family Band. The popular Jazz History performance with our guest teachers and musicians. More social dancing. Dress up. This one is for real. 3. Sunday night. A panel talk with our guests. Social dancing. $35. Ruby's Dance Hall. Then a load of live music with a band that has yet to give itself a name. Sigh. Nothing but solid swing dancing fun. Party Pass: $105. Super Saver Pass: includes all parties and workshops. $360 No late night parties? Nope. Our evening parties are that good we don't need to drag it out. Jazz BANG fans know to arrive on time, go hard, go home. Or go out on the town - Sydney's lock-out laws are OVER. Music? All. Live. Bands. Hand-picked and debriefed by International DJ Sam Carroll. Kate Wadey's band: echoes of Billie Holiday and Lester Young. Proper jazz, swinging small combo of younger musicians. Andrew Dickeson's Jazz Family Band: bigger, more vibraphone, more brass. The Blue Rhythm Band's well-seasoned rhythm section is the chugging heart of this solid party band. Sunday's unnamed band: they've ripped off the hot combos of the swing era, and just straight up throw down. Go. Dance! Guest DJs from Sydney and interstate will be playing band breaks and generally keeping things grooving along. Balboa and lindy hop? Yep. We've briefed the bands to make this whole dance style mashup thing work. Shorter songs = more songs = more variety = more tempos = more styles. So you can dance your balboa and your lindy hop. Because our bands are that good. More info? http://jazzbang.com.au/parties.html
