04.01.2022 Had a great morning preg-testing feeder heifers and cows at Carbene, north of Bollon.

02.01.2022 Today we said goodbye to one of our beloved maremmas, Friar, who was put to sleep at the mature age of 13 years. He was a beautiful old soul, who spent his later years soaking up the sun in his hole in the lawn and pleading for ear rubs. Friar had begun to suffer from a condition called Geriatric Onset Laryngeal Paralysis & Polyneuropathy, where his larynx stopped working properly. This had lead to difficulty stopping food and fluids going into his airway while swallowing and... leading to bouts of aspiration pneumonia. This condition had also lead to hindlimb weakness which in such a big heavy dog, obviously meant he had difficulty moving around. All this aside, his shared time on Earth with us was a happy one for Friar. I will certainly miss his heavy presence at my side when I'm pegging out the washing and sitting on the steps. R.I.P.
