25.01.2022 As a Celebrant I am constantly reminded of the cycle of life and the importance of making the most of every day. I recently conducted the funeral of an extraordinarily generous, funny, clever, kind man, who had a strong sense of social justice and integrity. He made the most of every day and has left this world a richer place than he found it! His family and close friends are struggling to face life without him. He was a giant of a man who loved his wife and family dearly an...d would help anyone who needed support in any way. I met him when I conducted his daughter's wedding some years ago, and I'll never forget the laughter and conversations we enjoyed together. He requested that I be the Celebrant for his funeral, which was very special and it was an honour to support the family to prepare the celebration of his life. There were many tears but also an enormous amount of laughter. RIP Pat.

24.01.2022 It was a beautiful day in Auckland today as relatives and close friends paid tribute to Rosemary Smith. Rosemary is irreplaceable, and was a force of nature who we all miss keenly. She was a brilliant and well known dress designer and many of us were wearing garments she made for us or colours she loved. There were tears and laughter as we shared stories and memories of her. The relaxed garden setting at her home was more poignant because we missed her dramatic, colourful presence. Rest in peace darling Rosemary.

24.01.2022 Wishing everyone a peaceful Easter in these challenging times. I’m thinking especially of people who have lost loved ones since this time last year and in recent years. Life will feel very empty and sad without your loved ones. You are in my thoughts.

24.01.2022 Shani and Keith’s Marriage Ceremony at Donovan’s Private Dining Room recently was a relaxed and happy occasion. There was lots of laughter as we all enjoyed the humorous vows which Shani and Keith made to each other. The ceremony was attended by family from interstate and overseas. It kicked off a series of wonderful celebrations over the weekend. This special couple have fabulous memories of their marriage and celebrations. It was a privilege working with them to plan their Marriage Ceremony.

23.01.2022 Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year. To newly married couples, your Festive Season will be full of fun and excitement. How wonderful! My thoughts are particularly with those of you who lost family members and friends this year. I too have experienced significant loss in 2017, and like you, will find it difficult knowing that special people are no longer with us. It is a challenging time under such circumstances and my thoughts are with you. I send my love.

23.01.2022 Wishing you all a happy, healthy and safe New Year. Thinking of those of you who are missing special people in your lives as you bring in the New Year. Special thoughts for those who are struggling with crippling losses and challenges due to the catastrophic bushfires around the country.

20.01.2022 Adriana and Matt’s recent marriage ceremony was the culmination of a chance meeting and a beautiful, romantic story. It was a very happy, moving occasion, full of excitement for them to be vowing their love for each other. Their heartfelt vows affected us all; we needed tissues! They were a striking couple; Adriana looked gorgeous in her elegant dress and Matt was handsome in his suit. It was a privilege to meet them, working together to write their ceremony and conduct their marriage ceremony. I wish them every happiness as they plan their future together!

19.01.2022 It’s an amazing time for same sex couples to finally be able to plan their wedding ceremonies. I am assisting a couple plan their ceremony in late January. Their happiness and relief to now be equal under the law is beyond words. A special Christmas present!

16.01.2022 What an amazing afternoon we all enjoyed at Mollie’s Bar and Diner in Fitzroy! Robbie and Dave’s Marriage Ceremony took place in between dazzling entertainment provided by talented friends. The ceremony was the culmination of much planning and waiting for this day to be possible. January 27th 2018 will always be remembered as the day Robbie and Dave’s dream came true. It was very special to be part of today’s Marriage Ceremony and celebrations.

15.01.2022 It is said to mean good luck if it rains when a couple marries. In that case Elyse and Tom were incredibly blessed as we heard the storm outside and saw the downpour on the skylights as I conducted their marriage in The Conservatory at the RACV City Club on Saturday. Elyse was a beautiful bride, and she and Tom were very excited to be marrying each other. The details which made the wedding so special were meticulously planned by Elyse. She would be an excellent wedding planner! Family members were involved in various ways, which highlighted the importance of family to them both. It was a pleasure to work together to create a beautiful ceremony for their special day. It is a privilege to be part of celebrations for friends!

14.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day, especially if you are enjoying Mother’s Day for the first time!Thinking of those who have lost their husband/partner, and find the day hard without them being part of family celebrations today.

14.01.2022 At the family property at Arthurs Seat, Francesca and Jack were married in an idyllic country setting. We were concerned about rain, but instead, it was very windy! Francesca’s parents and Izzy, her dog accompanied her down the aisle to the rustic arbour. It was a perfect setting with a stunning marquee where celebrations continued! Francesca and Jack are madly in love and are now incredibly happy to be married. Francesca looked gorgeous, and Jack was a very handsome groom. Wishing them every happiness.

14.01.2022 Wishing mothers, carers and guardians a special day tomorrow, surrounded by the love of your families near or far. I’m thinking especially of new mothers and those for whom the day will be tinged with sadness because of relatives who are no longer with us.

13.01.2022 Wishing you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 2020 has been such a rollercoaster, and I hope that wherever you are in the world, you are able to enjoy the Festive Season. Special thoughts are with friends who have lost family members and those who are unable to be with family due to Covid restrictions, and will miss them keenly. For others there is the joy of new little people joining their families.

10.01.2022 It was an emotional day in Auckland last Friday officiating as the Celebrant for the funeral of a very dear friend. Cliff was remembered as an extraordinarily special, generous, patient, loving, loyal and gifted man. As a professional, he was remembered for his initiatives and perfectionism building, designing and fitting limbs for amputees. Recipients and relatives of people who benefited from Cliff's care paid tribute to him by their attendance. Former colleagues paid tribu...te to Cliff's generous sharing of information and techniques in the workplace. A wide range of music was played before and during the service, reflecting his love of a wide range of music. A magnificent turtle shell which he had authority to own, and a tapa cloth were placed on the simple coffin reflecting his Fijiian heritage. As the coffin was carried from the chapel with Isa Lei playing, a Fijiian lady chanted, and also when the hearse drove off. It was a powerful cultural gesture which was overwhelming for mourners to witness. Rest in peace Cliff, you are terribly missed. See more

06.01.2022 What a surprise for family and friends enjoying Deb and Phil's fabulous party to discover that the night included a Renewal of Vows ceremony! The story of Deb and Phil's romance, marriage and family life resulted in tears and hilarity! We had so much fun preparing the ceremony and exchanged knowing glances at times! Their wonderful sons Tristan and Ashley were supported by their beautiful partners Dragana and Kerry. We were all fortunate to be part of such a special evening, to enjoy Deb and Phil's generous hospitality and the celebration of their love and commitment.

06.01.2022 Wishing you all a relaxing, happy and safe Easter.

06.01.2022 A memory on my Facebook page today. The flowers for Jessica and Diarmuid's wedding were magnificent; beyond adequate description. It felt indulgent to be surrounded by such beauty whilst conducting their marriage ceremony and later, as a guest. No wonder, with Jessica's mother, Victoria Whitelaw, who is an incredibly talented florist and dear friend; the best!

06.01.2022 I conducted the funeral for a beautiful 98 year old lady today. She didn't need glasses and wasn't on any medication; amazing! It is such an honour to work with family and friends to prepare the service to honour someone so special in their lives.

04.01.2022 Wishing you love, laughter, peace, good health and happiness in abundance in the New Year. I’m thinking especially of those who have lost treasured family members from their lives this year. Sending my love to you; go gently.

03.01.2022 Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. For some it will be a wonderfully happy time, and for others, a very sad occasion to be missing special people in your lives. You will be in my thoughts.

03.01.2022 A special marriage ceremony and celebration in the city this week for Chrissy van Raay and Adrian Van Raay. The ceremony was conducted on a beautiful rooftop garden in Melbourne. Then we enjoyed tram rides to Crown for a superb lunch at Rosetta. There were wonderful responses from people as we boarded trams and clapping as the bridal party walked into the restaurant; so much fun and memories to treasure!

02.01.2022 I was recently entrusted with the honour of celebrating the life of a beautiful lady. The principles by which she lived her life are inspiring and a wonderful example to us all of a life well lived. A special legacy of Anne’s life is her beautiful family. To see the love they have for her and each other as they farewelled her is a tribute to a treasured family member.

01.01.2022 It was an honour to conduct the funeral of a wonderful 96 year old man yesterday. He was a loving husband, devoted to his family and friends. His beautiful family paid heartwarming and funny tributes to him. The end of lockdown enabled some family members to travel from interstate. He was a generous, thoughtful and kind man who would do anything for anyone. He was a true gentleman. The community is the poorer for his passing.
