21.01.2022 SCAM ALERT Scammers have set up a clone of the myGov website to trick you into sharing your login and bank account details, Stay Smart Online says. The scam... starts with a phishing email that looks like it is from Medicare, asking you to update your Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) details, so you can start receiving payments for Medicare benefits and claims. If you click on the link in the email you are taken a replica of the real myGov website. Youll note the URL includes .net instead of .gov.au, which is an indication the website is not a legitimate Australian Government domain! If you input your login details you are directed to also enter your secret security question and answer, before youre taken to the fake Medicare website to input your bank account details. These emails and web pages feature myGov and Medicare design and branding, making them appear legitimate. Remember, clicking on the link and sharing your details gives these scammers access to your personal information, which they then use to steal your money and identity!

20.01.2022 To help stop the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and to follow advice and recommendations provided by health authorities, please be advised that the JCT Computer Tudor will be temporarily closed effective immediately. * How can I help stop the spread of germs? Health officials recommend the following steps to help prevent the spread of any respiratory virus:... Avoid contact with people who are sick and stay home when you are sick, ensuring you self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days. Practice social distancing with a recommended distance of 1.5 metres. Adhere to non-essential gatherings of no more than 100 people inside or 500 people outside (current 19 March 2020). Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, and throw the tissue away after use. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve, not your hands. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty. Practice other good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious food. Clean and disinfect doorknobs, switches, handles, computers, telephones, bedside tables, bathroom sinks, toilets, counters, toys and other surfaces that are commonly touched around the home or workplace. To the extent possible, avoid touching commonly used surfaces in public places like elevator buttons, door handles and handrails and avoid handshaking with people. Use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your hand or finger if you must touch something. We can all do our part to help reduce the spread of illness. We thank our supporters, for their patience and understanding with this temporary inconvenience while we try to minimise the risk during these extraordinary times.

05.01.2022 SCAM ALERT! Beware of a circulating fake bill scam How it works: Scammers obtain information from a potential victims social media and stolen post in order t...o gain access to the victims email accounts; where emailed invoices such as telephone, electricity or gas bills are obtained. The scammers then use the information from these bills to draft fake invoices and send these to the victim. How to protect yourself: Pay close attention to the email address of the sender. Look closely for differences on your bills, which could be as small as an extra letter, number or dot. Compare these with ones received for previous, legitimate invoices. If you believe you have been a target this scam, please report online via ACORN https://www.acorn.gov.au/
