23.01.2022 JUCDSAs address on COVID-19 First of all, to those who are travelling back home or will be going home, please stay safe and alert during your travel. As the university will be switched to full online learning starting on 30th March, please stay connected with your academic content and do not slack off. Semester 2 will be full on and this is the time to prepare yourselves. ... If you have any questions about teaching & learning, please contact your year level academic reps or our executive team. We will be available for any enquiries and we will do our best to provide help and solutions. A quick update on JCUDSAs events: Obviously, ALL semester 1 academic and social events are cancelled. Assassins is now on pause and will continue next semester. Unfortunately, we have to cancel this years Dental Ball and Halfway Ball due to safety reasons (e.g. more than 100 people gathering in a confined space). If you have any questions or suggestions about social events, please contact your year level social reps or our executive team. I am truly sorry about our cancellation to our major events. It was a very tough decision to make but health is always our first priority. Our team is still very passionate about making life in dentistry enjoyable. 15.01.2022 The JCUDSA Award 2020 is now open! JCU BDS students balance academic requirements with social engagements as well as cultural and community responsibilities. They are involved in a diverse range of extracurricular activities that impact local, national and international settings in a positive way. The award recognises these achievements of an individual JCU BDS student and further encourages them to continue with his/her undertakings through a bursary of $500. To be eligible ...for the award, the applicant must be a student currently enrolled in the JCU BDS program. Applicants must submit a complete application to be selected as a possible award winner. The award application includes a written component and two character references (must have an original signature). In 500 words or less, the written component should address the following criteria: Involvement in the JCU BDS community (cannot be part of a JCU academic requirement) Involvement in JCU activities and community (cannot be part of a JCU academic requirement) Involvement outside of JCU (cannot be part of a JCU academic requirement) The applicants work and study ethic How the applicant handles and balances academic and social responsibilities What the funds would be put towards should the applicant receive the award The complete application is to be emailed to [email protected] before 5pm on Monday 31st August. A panel of judges from the college and an independent party will be convened to judge the winning applicant. Please message the JCUDSA team should you require further clarification. Good luck
