21.01.2022 Hi internationally-minded friends! I am working on a project for the 2018 Young Language Ambassador program. Young language ambassadors aged 12 to 17 have given me reasons why they are learning a second language. I would like to translate these reasons into the languages noted in parenthesis. I need your help to translate it. It does not need to be a literal translation but rather the meaning/imagery should be carried through the translation. I need to get the meaning/spellin...g absolutely right because I am planning to get it printed on shirts to help raise money for a charity. Can you please help me? I don't trust google translate that much just yet but I do have 110% faith in you. It would be great if you could translate as many as you can and pm them back to me as soon as possible. Feel free to ask your friends, teachers, family members and wider community too if they know - it is a good opportunity to have a conversation about language education. Thank you very much everyone :-) Why Learn Another language: 1 Meet new people and make great friendship internationally (Japanese) 2 It will help you when you are travelling overseas (Italian) 3 Australia is a multicultural society so we need global citizens (Indonesian) 4 Enjoy works of art in their purest form (Australian Aboriginal - one from North or Far North Qld if possible) 5 Experience exciting new cultures (German) 6 Research shows various mental benefits (Spanish) 7 Improve your communication skills, be human again! (French) 8 Feel empowered and awesome (Hindi or another very common Indian language) 9 Have secret conversations (Chinese - mandarin) See more

16.01.2022 Want to help make a positive difference and remind others about the importance of Languages? Purchase your golden t-shirt today and $5 will be donated to Amnesty International: https://events.jcu.edu.au/AMLGoldTShirt The story behind the Golden t-shirt: In March 2018, we asked a group of JCU young language champions (aged 12-17) to pick 3 friends and ask them a simple question "Why learn another language?" - their friends talked to other friends and eventually many answers c...ame back to the simple question asked. Answers were collected and later put into different categories which were summarised into the top 10 reasons. With the help of the JCU young language ambassadors and teachers, each of these reasons were translated into the languages most studied by young people in Queensland schools. This project is part of the JCU Young Language Ambassador program. Thank you for helping us to build stronger internationally-minded communities. See more
