25.01.2022 The JCU Occupational Therapy Clinic was looking fantastic today for JCU Open Day. We were able to showcase the diverse scope of Occupational Therapy practice to many potential future students and share our enthusiasm for our profession. A big thank you to the 4th Year OT students who gave up their time today!!

25.01.2022 Healthy Active Kids! At our clinic we want all of our patients to be as healthy as possible. Developing healthy eating and exercise habits at a young age are th...e first steps. For the next 4 months we would like to offer kids aged 3-10 a healthy habits check-up and ask parents to complete a short questionnaire so we can learn how to assist our families. Please call to make an appointment on 4781 4495 and let reception know that you wish to book in for a healthy kids check-up. See more

24.01.2022 This is a little bit exciting.............

23.01.2022 An Australian Rugby 7s player and his wife are using the sport to help children with autism through Sense Rugby.

23.01.2022 Looking for fun ways to keep the kids moving at home? Movements like these are a great way to help children develop important skills, sit up and pay attention and during these challenging times can help them deal with stress. With playgrounds closed it might be time to get creative at home. Think about including some "heavy work" (pushing, pulling, dragging and lifting), changes in head position (climbing to different heights, climbing under tables and chairs), balance ...challenges, slow movements where they need to control their bodies and coordination challenges to get their brains involved. https://www.facebook.com/cbcnews/videos/300239870626683/

21.01.2022 Wishing all our families and friends a Merry Christmas! Thank you for your support and commitment during the year! We look forward to working with you all in 2018!

19.01.2022 Love this song to help little ones calm the 'inner monster'!

14.01.2022 This is such a great idea, so spread the word!!

11.01.2022 Movement is a great way to help your kids wake their brains and bodies up and to help them get ready for focussing and attending to their school work. This resource has some great ideas for movement breaks and currently free for parents helping their kids learn at home. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3496118357081973&id=643776732316164

11.01.2022 A great activity for any keen builders out there! More suitable for some of our older children however younger kids might love to do this with some help from their parents. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=957770641347713&id=284489278675856

11.01.2022 Being creative with play dough is a fun way to develop a child's hand and finger skills. Look at some of the awesome creations we have seen during our OT sessions recently!!

09.01.2022 3rd and 4th year OT, PT & SP students! If this is something you would like to be involved in then please do contact the project officer listed on the poster. It would look amazing on your resume ;)

06.01.2022 This post from OT Mom is a lovely reminder for all of us "development is not a race" Developing new skills is a complex process and some children need a little longer or a little more practice than their peers (some children may even need a bit of help from an OT to move them along in their journey.) Wherever your child is at remember to foster their confidence and kid power! Help them to feel like they CAN rather than they can't and give them plenty of opportunity to expl...ore and develop their skills within the context of a supportive relationship. https://www.facebook.com//a.442771176496/770625177044673/

02.01.2022 A message from OT Lecturer, Marianne Bonassi: "As of Friday the 3rd of August I will be leaving JCU to commence a new position here in Townsville back in Menta...l Health in a combined educator /clinical /research position , so combining all my passions. I have enjoyed my 13 years here and have seen over 600 students graduate which makes me very proud to think I might have in some way contributed to the future of the profession . I just want to wish all students the best of luck in their future studies and in the fantastic career they have chosen as an occupational therapist. I look forward to in the future working with some of you as either colleagues or as students on placement." On behalf of the Occupational Therapy course we wish Marianne all the best on her new adventure
