24.01.2022 Well... that's awkward #FridayFunny

24.01.2022 2021 is riiiiight around the corner seriously, where did this year go? Is anybody else already having to write 2021 and getting confused with what keys to push on the keyboard? Here’s a fun little game Answer me these 3 questions to help send this year off! Here are my answers 1 Taking on a part-time ‘step-mum’ role - both very challenging and rewarding at the same time ... 2 Not everything will be in your control and when it’s not, just ride the wave until it settles. 3 Double my savings account

24.01.2022 Alright guys! Hit me with your recent boast-able win. It’s my second day back after a much needed break from work, and I’m seeking some motivation that doesn’t involve caffeine Here’s mine Finally, for the first time in 4 years, I took some time off over Christmas & New Year and did not feel ONE BIT guilty no screen time at all, or checking emails. It was nice and refreshing.

23.01.2022 DIGITAL DETOXING Annnnd I’m back! SO much has happened these past couple months but the biggest one was merging my entire house (and life) with a boy into a newly built house in Zuccoli. Hi Kyle .... I decided to drop the worry about keeping up with my social media posting and just focus on the move and my workload simultaneously. What did I learn from not posting on social media for 2 months? The bad People (mainly my friends) thought I wasn’t working for myself anymore Some clients thought I was ‘too busy’ I lost my daily dose of insta creativity (and now there’s reels what the!!) The good My work and cash flow didn’t change I was still getting new clients I wasn’t getting ‘distracted’ with new posts & notifications Overall, I am feeling a little ‘creatively flat’ with myself and I am keen to keep you posted with some new and exciting projects that are currently in the works!

20.01.2022 Thanks Apple I always wanted one of these in my pocket. #FridayFunny

20.01.2022 5 Typesetting Mistakes you NEED to avoid 1Steer clear of justified text! Justified text creates large gaps in-between words which causes the readers eye to scan longer for the next word and disrupts the reading flow.... 2 Never centre lengthy paragraphs With centre alignment, the reader works harder to find where each line begins to continuing to read the next line. Without a straight left edge, there is no consistent place where readers can move their eyes to when they complete each line. Keep your centre alignments to two lines only. 3 Fix your leading Allow some breathing space in-between your lines for a more pleasant reading experience. 4 Don’t use script fonts for body text You should only use script fonts for 1 or 2 (sometimes 3) WORDS MAX. For example in large headings. Using any type of script font in paragraphs creates much more effort for the brain to analyse, so much so, we generally don’t start to read the paragraph at all. 5 No hyphens or widows Having hyphens disrupts the flow of text and word pronunciations. Avoid these by turning off the function in whatever program you are using. A widow is one word at the end of a paragraph. This is considered poor typography because it leaves too much white space between paragraphs or at the bottom of the page. Try to make the right side of your text more ‘rounded’. ALSO! Thoughts on the new CC icons? See more

20.01.2022 Hi people of the socials! Usually I try to avoid making posts like this but I am getting flooded with enquiries and at this stage I can take your booking, however the turn around time will be roughly 4-5 weeks. I hate to disappoint people in that way but I’d hate it even more if I were to rush jobs and not be 100% happy knowing I didn’t have the time to make it my best work.... My current repeat clients [whom I’m forever grateful of] are still able to book in jobs during this period Thank you to everyone for their support, it means the world to me! See more

16.01.2022 I was absolutely honoured to have Beverley Ratahi: Independent for Nelson approach me for a logo design as she stands as an Independent candidate for Nelson (my very own electorate!!) Beverley envisioned her logo to be based around the tagline For people, not parties which is where the the grouped people-like icon was inspired from. How great does her sign at the Coolalinga Central look printed by ZipPrint Darwin NT

12.01.2022 HOT TIP TUESDAY This one is for all the designers out there! I’ve been using Adobe XD for my social media graphics (and clients!) for about 3 weeks now & loving it to death ... If there’s one thing I love most, it’s clutter free artboards and working files. The BEST feature I found on XD is the grid function and thought I’d share with you the specifications I use to create carousels Enjoy and let me know if you test it out! See more

12.01.2022 QUARANTINE!! It's a very unfortunate day when your holiday destination gets declared a hotspot when you're 30 minutes out from landing back in your home town. Off to Howard Springs I went. ... I am hoping to get my work station up and running tomorrow morning along with a fully charged phone (I am currently without a charger and have a flat phone). Nonetheless I am alive and feeling healthy and grateful I didn't have to pay the quarantine fee. Thank you to all my clients who have been extremely patient with me over the course of today!

10.01.2022 HAHAHA too accurate! #FridayFunny

05.01.2022 Zzz Do you ever get that mid-week slump where your phone won’t stop ringing, clients are emailing you; chasing you for work and you were supposed to start that logo design but your brain is frying from the inside? I feel you.... Your work station is the worst for allowing your creative juices to flow. Next time this happens to you, try the following Go to a local cafe with a note pad and a pencil , switch off that phone and leave it in your bag, ignore any pressures that you left behind and just watch the world go by as you get your creative mind flowing Feeling extremely grateful that life is back to [somewhat] ‘normal’ here in Darwin

03.01.2022 Appreciating the time and effort people put into my Google reviews Thank you

01.01.2022 How to find fulfilment especially NOW you’re back at work. Yep, I have been there before. Sleep, wake up, drive to work, go home, rinse and repeat. You get stuck in the ‘same old, same old’ and because of this mindset, you lack integrity and overall effort to work better and do better. Here’s my [very simple] tip CHALLENGE YOURSELF.... Take projects or learn new skills that challenge you and make you work hard to succeed. Not only will your skill set improve, but also your confidence in your ability to tackle new challenges. Ask your boss for SMALL projects you can tackle to gain more responsibility. Projects you can then share the credit if successful, or take the blame if they fail. If you are not pushing and allowing yourself to grow, boredom will eventually set in. See more

01.01.2022 Post-COVID (ish) has got me reflecting on how fortunate I was to have a steady income during the isolation period. I started to think of how I ended up being so lucky and then I realised, the answer has been there with me all along. Ever since I first started my business I’ve had the same, small handful of repeat clients that have been coming to me for my design services. ... I am definitely not the most perfect person but there are a few standards I like to put in place to make sure I can keep a happy, healthy relationship with all clients. Be transparent Be honest Be trustworthy Oh and never talk rubbish about other business people in meetings because Darwin is waaaay too small for that. Everyone knows everyone and things travel fast See more
