24.01.2022 Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Wednesday the 27th (tomorrow) I will be hosting a very small and informal beach clean up. This is a great opportunity to get outside and do some good whilst being on a beautiful beach and be able to maintain social distancing. ... It will be held at half moon bay, trinity park at the end of reed road. Meeting at 8.45, starting at 9am. The event should not go any longer than a couple of hours, however you can commit to as much or as little time as you would like. WHAT TO BRING: hat sunnies water snacks (optional) headphones (optional, if you like to listen to music as you walk) I will provide bags, gloves, first aid, sharps container and additional water. The collected litter will then be sorted, counted and uploaded into the AMDI database to contribute to the monitoring of pollution in the marine environment. It would be great if you could let me know if you will be attending or not - and if you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to contact me. 11.01.2022 Drop in to the front of the library from 10am - 2pm 22nd March Thursday (week 5) to grab yourself (or give) some free clothes and other treasures all donated from individuals or op shops in the community. The fresh fruit and veg markets will be happening at the same time. Hope to see you there!

09.01.2022 Together with Cairns Airport and Rainforest Rescue, James Cook University’s community garden will be holding an open workshop on the propagation of the Cairns Birdwing Butterfly food plant, Aristolochia acuminata (native Dutchman’s Pipe). The workshop fee of $5 per person will help support the community garden and will include seeds and re-purposed compostable coffee cups for pots. Light nibbles and a BBQ will be provided =)... 04.01.2022 Don't forget about the upcoming screening of the new documentary about the amazing and powerful Stop Adani movement. Thursday 24th May at 5:30pm at the JCU Boathouse (Week 13 for uni students). Sit back, have a snack, hear from local guest speakers and then enjoy a short documentary. It's going to be an informative and enjoyable evening. All welcome =)
