11.01.2022 The Ted Smout Memorial Bridge was unveiled in 2010 and is Australia's longest bridge. At 2.7km long, it links Brisbane to Redcliffe and was named in honour of the Queensland WW2 Veteran. Ted Smout passed away in 2004 at 106 years of age, and was accorded a state funeral. He left his fellow Australians with the message that we should not glorify war.

11.01.2022 Possibly one of the most underappreciated feats of Australian Engineering is the Snowy Mountain Scheme. More than a quarter of a century in the making, the project (begun in 1949) would go on to rely on the labour of more than 100,000 people from over 30 countries and would reach a final cost of $820 million which is cheap by today's standard if you ask us! 08.01.2022 A hole that can be seen from space! At a site originally discovered in 1893, a 600m deep hole, the Kalgoorie Super Pit is found. Located off the Goldfields Highway on the south-east edge of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia it was Australia's largest open cut gold mine until 2016 when it was surpassed by the Newmont Boddington gold mine, also in Western Australia.
