19.01.2022 It's amazing looking at a photo from late March of the bakery I manage, to see just how much the world can change in a short period of time. Back then reducing our seating and spacing out our tables and chairs seemed like an extreme measure! Now having seating seems odd, and out of place. The business has had to adapt and innovate but it will survive, and in many respects emerge stronger. So too it will be with each of us as we have adapted in our own way to the "new normal" around us. Reflect. What has changed for you since COVID restrictions began? How have you grown and adapted? I'd love to hear from you.
15.01.2022 Morning upper body weights workout. With only the 5kg DBs on hand the focus is on high reps, good form, and low rest! #bendigo #fitness #fitnessmotivation #isofitness
14.01.2022 Just a quick message to let you know I'm still here and will be resuming regular content and updates after a small window of downtime. This month I'm raising money for mental health research via the @blackdoginst which are a great organisation doing practical, beneficial work. You can find the sponsorship link below! https://www.onefootforward.org.au/s/13218/13260 #onefootforward #blackdoginstitute #mentalhealth #fitness #motivation
14.01.2022 Just in case any of you guys think I never struggle to keep up my motivation or balance all the different things I need to do - you couldn't be more wrong! Over the past week I've felt like I'm struggling through quicksand, that time is heavy, more difficult to move through. This morning I got up on my secondary alarm instead of 430am, and the result was getting home from a 9hr work day feeling like a zombie. All I wanted to do was sit on the couch and look at my phone or watch TV. But I know What I have to do to perform at my best, and I know that if I'd done that I would have woken up more tired tomorrow, not less. What our mind tries to tell us is self care - comfort - is rarely what we actually need to get out of slumps or stress we find ourselves in!
14.01.2022 5km morning fasting cardio at 430am, getting a good sweat going! By 5am my first workout of the day is done, my metabolism is roaring, and I feel a sense of achievement that gives me a momentum that carries into the rest of my day! #bendigo #fitness #fastingcardio #motivation
14.01.2022 The month of October is seeing me raise money for mental health research, with 23km of my 200km goal racked up so far and almost $300 Of my $500 goal already achieved. Please consider donating, even a small donation will make a big difference to a great cause!
14.01.2022 Welcome to the newcomers to my channel; the core of what I am about is "how can I balance all of the commitments and obligations I have without sacrificing my physical, mental and emotional health"? There are no easy answers to this, and identifying and achieving goals while juggling competing priorities and obligations is hard. If it wasn't, everyone would be able to be fit, happy, and healthy plus doing everything they wanted and needed to do, all the time. It requires sel...f awareness, environmental awareness, forethought and planning. Considering multiple possible futures without becoming too attached or stuck on any one possible outcome. Stay tuned and look out for new content, plus look through what I've already posted. Consistent themes emerge. Please engage with topics or themes that interest you, to help guide me in the kind of content to focus on.
12.01.2022 My big focus during the second wave has been retaining my anaerobic and aerobic fitness. I know that when @stewieshouseofbjj reopens it will be a rough reentry curve if I haven't kept up my cardio, core, flexibility and bodyweight strength training. 30 mins fasting cardio every morning, pushups, situps, and high rep light dumbell weights workouts are all things I don't need a gym to maintain or even improve. By setting short term goals in areas within my control I am also looking defending my mental health from external and internal threats. #fitness #motivation #bjj #whitebelt
06.01.2022 The mind is a muscle like any other, and I try to keep my brain engaged and growing just like the rest of my body. This particular goal is "off the books" and will have to wait a few years to be discussed on socials, but I wanted to share that mind and body are intrinsically connected and one can't be prioritized over the other, especially in times like these.
05.01.2022 Just got back from my morning fasting cardio. In the absolute depths of July I usually have a few weeks where the winter chill keeps me inside at 430am, but I can safely report that stage has passed! No need to worry about social distancing at Lake Weerona that time of morning, I promise you! #isofitness #isochallenge #upbeforetheenemy #fastingcardio
05.01.2022 Thank you @mhfa_australia for an engaging and well designed course. I feel better equipped to be of use in a situation where I can see someone is struggling or experiencing crisis!
04.01.2022 Building healthy habits takes time. But it also requires you to start. So many people I speak to describe a negative voice in their heads. The one that whispers "you're not good enough", or "you can't do anything right" or "whats the point in even trying?" This is the voice that will tell you because you had that Bad Food or missed the excercise or obligation you were meant to do, that there is no point continuing, and often that you may as well go in the complete opposite d...irection and embrace the shortfall or stumble. This voice is lying to you. Healthy living and achieving progression towards your goals is a time game. The people who try to mostly do the suggested things, most of the time, are infinitely better off in the long run than people who never start or who have a "perfection or nothing" approach. #motivation #goals #fitness #fitnessmotivation #healthylifestyle
04.01.2022 An organised, focused environment helps to create an organised, focused mind. Some of the results of my extra day off this week! @ Bendigo, Victoria
03.01.2022 "Later" is one of the biggest enemies of progress, and is far more insidious than "no". After all, you will do it, you're accepting it needs to be done, you just won't do it right this second... I think all of us, myself included, know what later usually means. When I was in active addiction and alcoholism, later was a better feeling than any substances, a warm glow that spread through me. Later made me feel as though I'd already gained some of the benefits of acting, without... any of the effort. To combat "Later" what is needed is a bias towards action. You need to create a presumption in your head for "now" that must be vigorously overcome in order to delay. If you will do something In the morning,, this thinking goes, why not do it now? What is the reason it couldn't or shouldn't be done right away? The difference between these two mindsets played out every day has a huge flow on effect over a week, a month, or a year. That one or two extra things each day getting done creates a gap in performance and outcomes that very quickly starts to look like a superpower. #goals #motivation #fitness #fitnessmotivation #getafterit #disciplineequalsfreedom
01.01.2022 For most of my twenties, I was convinced that there was a ticking clock in play - that if I hadn't achieved everything I thought I needed to by age 30, I had failed. Now, at 32, I realise my whole life is ahead of me. It is still important to have goals and a sense of urgency, but our lives are a broad canvas. Just as important as what we strive toward is how we conduct ourselves as we do. Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years? Contact me to start identifying and working towards your goals, today.
01.01.2022 Habits are so difficult to form, and so easy to break. The past couple of months I have struggled to stay on the path at times, more so than first lockdown. The last 4 mornings in a row I've been up at 430am, getting my 30 mins run and some light excercise in before the start of the day. I always, *always* find that on the days where I get up early and do physical activity, I have more energy, focus and motivation than when I don't. This new wave of energy and discipline comes just in time as restrictions ease and the bakery begins to get busier after a long winter! #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fastingcardio #disciplineequalsfreedom
