12.01.2022 NEW ARTICLE | Masters champ Danny Willett and his team built a beautiful golf swing despite having a restriction in his hips that limits rotation. A great example of why it's so important to understand your body-swing connection.

09.01.2022 Evidence not looking good for BCAA's.. "We can conclude from these two studies that BCAA infusion not only fails to increase the rate of muscle protein synthesis in human subjects, but actually reduces the rate of muscle protein synthesis and the rate of muscle protein turnover." "Further, a sustained reduction in the rate of muscle protein turnover would be expected to have a detrimental effect on muscle strength, even if muscle mass is maintained."... "there is no credible evidence that ingestion of a dietary supplement of BCAAs alone results in a physiologically-significant stimulation of muscle protein. In fact, available evidence indicates that BCAAs actually decrease muscle protein synthesis. " https://jissn.biomedcentral.com/articles//s12970-017-0184-9

09.01.2022 Can you stretch your ITB.? No, but why would you want to.? It is resilient, as it was intended.. I have seen it quoted from a study suggesting it takes 2000lbs of force for a 1 % elongation in the ITB. Yikes, stretching may require a bit more oomph.. ... Maybe there is some hope with stretching and techniques targeting the TFL muscle with a recent study having "demonstrated a significantly longer ITBTFLC in the stretched versus resting condition". "The results of the current study suggest that the ITBTFLC is capable of tissue elongation under normal physiologic loads that simulate a clinical stretching protocol." "Greater lengthening occurred in the proximal region of the ITBTFLC, suggesting that the proximal region (containing the TFL) is more likely to undergo elongation in response to a clinical stretch force when compared to the middle or distal regions." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5294943/

09.01.2022 One of the secrets to Adam Scott's swing is his freakish physical abilities. When I screen my golfers I can get an insight on how a golfer moves which really could be the difference in keeping posture in the golf swing, which Adam does so well!

05.01.2022 Why we have knee caps.. In one word leverage! https://45.media.tumblr.com//tumblr_o30bc7aGZW1tlb56zo1_40

05.01.2022 In the golf swing it is really important to separate upper and lower body rotation. Inability to do so can lead to reduced power & early extension in the golf s...wing. Top left- in the pelvic rotation test, Brook exhibits limitations separating lower (pelvic rotation) from upper body Top right- here we demonstrate a step-throw medicine ball drill to promote pelvic rotation Bottom left- Brook is practicing a step-swing drill, once again, to promote pelvic rotation in the down swing Bottom right- we can then reinforce the changes in his golf swing The pelvic rotation test is one of twelve tests in the TPI screen. If you are interested in improving your body swing you need to come and visit @strengtherapist Grab our TPI Pack now!! #PridePN #opennow #brickworks #physiotherapy #myotherapy #nutrition #groupclasses #tpi #thekettlebellphysio #strengththerapist #health #doingitdifferently #remedialmassage #prehab #kettlebells #fms #sfma #visitgoldcoast #ferryrd #ferryrdmarkets #groupclasses #discoverqueensland #southport #goldcoast

01.01.2022 Swiss chocolate and nerve root pain. A patient will always want to know: - What is wrong with me?... - How long is it going to take to get better? Managing expectations is always important. Especially in nerve root pain which tends to go and up down. Below is Toblerone recovery graph (see how it resembles the swiss chocolate?). It illustrates that nerve root pain goes up and down over a period of time. We would expect a graph for an ankle sprain to look different. Using the graph allows you to provide your patients with realistic expectations for recovery time. Many expect a quick fix and for their problems to be over swiftly. This is unlikely and unhelpful if we're talking about a nerve root problem. Gifford explains that he starts off with the perceived "bad news" first. He also says that while you can trick processing for a little while, you cannot trick a natural history. Nerve root pains are (usually) bound to take some time. What treatment do you prescribe for these patients? Full blog here: https://giffordsachesandpains.com//pain-physiotherapy-and/
