25.01.2022 SURPRISE SURPRISE at JONESYS Today we have just received a trolley load of seedlings Plenty of veggies and flowers but I think you will need to be quick as lots of customers have been looking for them in the last two weeks. Also a delivery of free range duck eggs was a surprise. Still got plenty of apples and those great Lancefield potatoes from the Hunt boys. ... It is all happening I think there really is light at the end of a very long tunnel. HOPE SO ANYWAY. See more

24.01.2022 It is very very quiet down at JONESYS today due to both weather and corona that we have decided to close a little earlier at 2:30 pm. So if you need anything pop down now or leave it until tomorrow 9 am. Hope we dont upset anyone but it is not viable and the girls are sick of trying to find jobs to do Hopefully Corona will just get blown away with all this wind. x x x

24.01.2022 ***NEWS FLASH FROM BACCHUS MARSH TOURISM ASSOCIATION INC*** It is with regret that B.M.T.A. together with Urban Markets announce the postponement of our annual ...Strawberries and Cherries Weekend for 2020. Due to the current environment it would not be possible to hold such an event for a number of reasons. ON THE BRIGHTER SIDE Strawberries and Cherries have no idea about what is going on in the lives of us two legged people, so they have there heads down and bottoms up and only have one thing on there mind and that is to grow big and juicy ready for us to pick. So even though there will not be our usual fantastic festival weekend there will be tonnes of fabulous sweet juicy fruit produced during November through till May for you to enjoy We trust that you will be able to come and enjoy all that is part of the big attraction at Bacchus Marsh. We are hoping to do some extra special smaller weekend attractions during the summer/autumn harvest time. This Visit Bacchus Marsh Facebook page will keep you updated right through the picking season as to what fruit is available to be picked.

22.01.2022 Just a reminder we are only open from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm on Sunday.

22.01.2022 Today at JONESYS is a good news day, I think it is early, I forgot to ask NATURIPE but guess what? LOCAL STRAWBERRIES have arrived. This all leads to the warmer weather I hope, I must say we have had enough wind. Dont forget Darley Bakery bread on Thursdays too. The blossoms are so pretty everywhere, it makes our walk with Jessie every night very special

21.01.2022 JONESYS will be closing at 2:30 today. Corona has made Sundays very quiet and seeing it is so cold we are going home to the heater. Obviously the border closed has kept all our customers away. Will be open again tomorrow Sorry for any inconvenience x x x

21.01.2022 The tree felling video as promised with commentary from Lynn This particular tree was all wired together at the top and had lost several limbs in recent times. I know a new tree will be planted in its place and as they say life goes on.

20.01.2022 JONESYS have tomato seedlings at the moment and the rule of thumb is that you should plant them after Melbourne Cup Day as dear Mother Nature has finished with popping the odd frost in. Many a flourishing tomato plant is wiped out by a surprise arrival of Jack Frost. There are quite a few varieties available. We have plenty of local Dry Creek Milled flour in stock too. The good cooks have reported great results in all sorts of cakes, biscuits, bread, pizza bases etc. Lo...cal Naturipe strawberries are sooo good and we have them in 500 gms packs. All the summer fruits have just started, so Covid is going away and the beautiful tastes of summer are arriving. Let’s think positive and I can’t wait for 2021 to arrive. 2020 sure has been a bumpy ride but fingers crossed we have hit the bitumen. Also those absolutely beautiful LIONS CLUB Christmas cakes have arrived for those that can’t cook but no one will know if you throw away the box Lynn thinks that is a good idea. See more

20.01.2022 NO LOCAL STRAWBERRIES LEFT all sold out and due to this cold snap there will be no picking for possibly a few days. I will let you all know when more come in. They are really yummy for the start of the season so lets hope we get some warmer weather to hurry them along. Stay safe and warm this weekend

20.01.2022 JONESYS would just like to advise all our customers that we would appreciate if you could sanitise hands on your way into the shop and please wear masks. We just want to protect our staff and family while this bug is in control. These are very interesting times and hindsight will prove to be a wonderful thing in the future but at this stage we just need to take every precaution. We have more than one in our immediate family in the over 70s bracket who have a few good years left hopefully. (Like me) On a lighter note young Nate and Freckle are the very best of friends and a pet sure makes lock down a little easier. If Nate told Freckle to wear a mask he would as his love has no barriers.

19.01.2022 This could be your valentines day option now that we are going into lockdown again

18.01.2022 CITRUS TREES have just arrived at JONESYS all sorts and looking good. Could be a good Mothers Day present for that Mum who just loves gardening and has green thumbs. Every house should have a lemon tree but also orange and mandarins are great around here. Lynn and Georgia were so excited to see the trees arrive yesterday. They are evergreen so great for privacy and not as hard to maintain as deciduous fruit trees. ... Also Saturday mornings we have Darley Bakery Sour Dough and our great locally grown and milled flour from Dry Creek Milling. Plenty of Otway Free Range Eggs now available for all the home cooking that has been going on during this unusual time we have found ourselves in. See more

18.01.2022 SEEDLINGS GALORE a beautiful day, rain last night the perfect recipe for a day in the garden. We had a delivery yesterday of lots of flowers and veggie seedlings. Well worth a look

17.01.2022 JONESYS are shut for Queens birthday tomorrow and will reopen on Tuesday at 9:00 am. Look how happy the girls are as we are all going to snuggle down in the morning instead of getting up and breaking the ice. Even Jessie the dog whispered she is looking forward to the day off as well. Hope everyone has enjoyed their long weekend and stay safe. Thank you all for your support to Jonesys over the past few weeks with Corona. There has certainly been some changes over the la...st few months, with plastic bag eradication and Corona. Thank you for bringing your boxes and bags back it all helps. See more

16.01.2022 Well at JONESYS rules are made to be broken. I said we would be closed Public Holidays but after 2 days rest over Easter and as we really enjoy our Saturday regular customers, we decided we would stay open this Saturday which is ANZAC Day. The Avenue is a great living memorial to our ANZACS and we are so lucky to live and work along this picturesque part of Bacchus Marsh. So our little have a chat fruit shop will be open all day Saturday 25th April for your fruit, veggies, honey, eggs, jams etc Jeff is missing his daily trip to The Village while this Corona business is on and finds us all a bit boring, hope you dont find us the same.

16.01.2022 Well 50 years ago today, down the aisle went Jeff and I. For richer for poorer In sickness and in health For better for worse Cant remember the rest... probably just as well as you would think those few words would make one run a mile. We are so lucky to have had two healthy boys and thanks to Danielle, two healthy grand children too. 50 years sounds such a long time but it really has gone so quickly. Plenty of good times to laugh about, lots of hard work and plenty of great friends picked up along the way. Life is a roller coaster ride and hanging on tight is the secret. Friday 15th May, 1970 at Scotts Church, Collins St, Melbourne See more

16.01.2022 Another milestone down at JONESYS big Jeff turns 80 today No party thanks to Corona but I am sure he is pleased to reach this special birthday and has got plenty to look back on and some great memories. Jeff has lived in Bacchus Marsh since 1960 when his family bought the property in The Avenue and planted the orchard to replace the orchard/market garden they had sold in Tally Ho. So for 60 years Bacchus Marsh has been his special place on this big earth and he has enjoyed... every moment. Although he is encouraged not to interfere in the shop he still likes to see what is going on. The orange flag on the Goffa always gives us prior knowledge of his arrival. HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY JEFF. See more

16.01.2022 JONESYS will be open tomorrow at 9 am and hopefully till 5 pm. Even though it is a Public holiday. Should it be quiet or cold we will close mid afternoon. Pink lady apples are now in, along with lots of other apples of course Darley Bakery sough dough loaves will be available in the morning too. Our local Stonemill flour is back on the shelf, this is the real thing. Plenty of eggs and honey (lots of varieties) together with our local jams. ... Hope to see you all wide eyed and bushy tailed after an early start for ANZAC day See more

15.01.2022 JONESYS can assure you there are no extras coming to Bacchus Marsh from metropolitan areas it is just soooo quiet on the road and in the shop. Sundays would normally be our biggest trading day but Corona has taken care of that. Can one believe such a tiny little thing like a virus particle can cause so much havoc and grief across the world. For a veggie shop lady it is so hard to understand and comprehend. Lets hope there IS soon daylight at the end of the tunnel and not a freight train coming our way. Thanks to all the local shoppers, we have nearly known every customer by name today. SEEING IT IS SO QUIET WE ARE CLOSING TODAY AT 2:30 PM TO HAVE FAMILY TIME (isnt that what everyone says) x x x

15.01.2022 Well it was a very nostalgic week at JONESYS last week with the 50th Anniversary and the big 80 birthday. We would both like to thank you all for your interest and wishes to us both. There were lots and lots of messages from current friends and customers together with many messages from friends of long ago. We really enjoyed sharing these milestones with everyone as we consider ourselves very lucky to have survived many speed humps in the last 50 years and you have all be...en part of a very interesting journey. There is never a dull moment down at Jonesys this week we have had two of the great Avenue trees which had reached the end of their life being felled These trees were unsafe but made a spectacular exit I must say. Then we have a new sewerage pipe being connected to the main pipe which runs through our property. I think this is to take all the additional poopies from Darley. We dont mind all just a community service one might say. Then today Anthonys mate John came and picked him up for a very exciting and long trip in his helicopter. What a fantastic day he had, arrived back almost speechless and didnt know where to start and describe everything he saw. Not every day we have a chopper out the back. I had to have a mother and son photo before he left. Thank you John for bringing him back safely. We are still just a fruit and veggie shop with lots of new season apples, oranges and mandarins. We have a big delivery of honey coming on Friday so if you need honey come down over the weekend I am sure you will find something special. Video of the tree felling will have to be on a special post. See more

14.01.2022 I know JONESYS drop the doors if it is too hot or too cold but we will be open this weekend during lockdown. It is important we sanitise and wear masks but we must eat our fresh fruit and veggies at all costs. HOURS: Saturday ... 9:00 am till 4 pm Sunday 10:00 am till 2 pm See you then See more

14.01.2022 I think everyone has ran off with Easter bunny and they are all hiding down his little burrow so we are going to close at 3 pm. It has been very quiet everyone is doing a great job corona wise and we are going to do the same. Remember we will be shut tomorrow but open as usual 9:00 am on Tuesday Have a very Happy Easter everyone

13.01.2022 Bacchus Marsh Avenue of Honour shortlisted for Tree of the Year. Voting opens today: April 14-May 10, with the winner announced May 19. Voting is open to everyone by going on the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) Facebook page. Please make time to vote.

12.01.2022 Wow, what a write up on Jeff. Thank you Moorabool online

12.01.2022 JONESYS have cut the cord on another one of our favourite girls and released her out to the big commercial world. It is with a tear in our eye but how we love to see them achieve full time employment in the field that they choose. We are just a stepping stone and we love to know they are a bundle of knowledge on fruit and veggies for the rest of their lives. So Georgia we wish you well and I know someone has got a little gem. We will miss so many things that are special a...bout you. Look forward to hearing all about it. See more

10.01.2022 JONESYS are changing trading hours due to the latest Corona restrictions which has meant a large percentage of our customers are on the other side of the border. MONDAY TO SATURDAY WILL BE 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM ... SUNDAY ONLY WILL BE 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. If things are very quiet we will advise on Facebook of any earlier closing as time goes on during this current Corona crisis. All stay safe and hope this finds our dear customers over the border in good spirits and all masked up. Hope you are all missing our fresh fruit and veggies. Free range eggs, pure honey, stone milled local flour, local bread, local jams etc. We look forward to our Fruit Shop Family all being back together very soon.

09.01.2022 JONESYS honey delivery arrived yesterday so lots of honey many flavours. Plastic containers and new glass jars too It is in the middle of citrus so mandarins, navel oranges, Cara Cara oranges, tangeloes, grapefruit and lemons. All very yummy and juicy Now for the highlight of my week. Last Sunday I had two of my favourite, very young customers bring me flowers. A very sweet and special girl saw the first of the bulbs in her garden and picked me a bunch of jonquils. In all th...is upside down world isnt it beautiful that children see outside the square or dont listen to the news. Then in came a very shy young man with a beautiful pink camellia for me. He has been watching the forklift for weeks and we have offered him to have a sit on it but never game enough. Well he must have spent the whole week thinking about it and plucked up courage to sit on the forklift so came bearing gifts in return for a photo shoot. How good is that just think of how much he must have wanted to do it. Anyway they made a little old lady very happy See more

Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday we have beautiful fresh sour dough from Darley Bakery. It arrives still warm and there are savoury, plain and sweet varieties Straight from the farmer we have local Dry Creek Milling Co stone ground flour in 1kg and 5...kg bags. 09.01.2022 JONESYS are adjusting their trading hours to suit the current situation. This is only a trial and things may alter again as we progress down this virus path. EASTER TRADING Closed Friday and Monday Open Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am till 5 pm Every picture tells a story and this one takes your mind off the virus. Those little potatoes just go everywhere. The joys of working in a fruit shop. We still have those beautiful local raspberries and strawberries in stock. Lancefield Pontiac potatoes Otway free range eggs are both in stock at the moment.

09.01.2022 JONESYS back to normal

09.01.2022 Well done to our fabulous Avenue of Honour. You are always a winner to the people of Bacchus Marsh. A well deserved win.

08.01.2022 JONESYS’ and LOCKDOWN 4 We started with Plan A but have quickly moved to Plan B as it is so painfully quiet we will reduce hours and we will only be open each day of the lockdown as follows: OPEN 10:00 AM CLOSE 2:00 PM... Stay safe and let’s hope this virus is under control very soon.

07.01.2022 We may not be having a Strawberries and Cherries Weekend this year due to lock down restrictions but luckily nature is not restricted by them. As always nature... does its own thing. Naturipe Fruits strawberries, cherries and stone fruits are growing there little hearts out ready for you to pick lots when restrictions are eased. Bacchus Marsh looks forward to seeing you all when it is safe to do so. Take care everyone.

06.01.2022 I didnt copy my comment which was. A girlfriend in England just sent this to me and it made me smile. Could you imagine all the little boxes out the front of Jonesys with every ones clothes and trying to serve every one in the nuddy. I would be wearing a mask that is for sure. I just didnt want anyone to think it was a local business in The Marsh that had the sign out.

05.01.2022 OMG there has been a protest about my post on Christmas Cakes. I am so sorry LIONS CLUB they are LIONS cakes not Rotary. I can’t believe I did that but one of your very active members has just been in and I am in the naughty corner for a day. I will have to put a donation in the Fine Box... So sorry boys but I will edit the post now x x x

05.01.2022 Happy Easter. From all at JONESYS the Easter bunny arrived and we are self distancing as you can see. I dont like saying goodbye or special occasions with no touchy feelie. It is all for a good cause though. The other thing that has arrived is our beautiful DRY CREEK MILLING COMPANY Premium Stoneground Flour. Packs of 1kg $5 and 5kg $20 This will produce success after success in the baking department. Show Off on your phone and the best part of Corona is they cant invite themselves around for a feed.

05.01.2022 JONESYS is business as usual even though there is plenty of action down Anthonys end of the farm. Both our entrances to the shop are open. It has been pretty cold this week but life goes on in a fruit shop. Plenty of cold fresh air to keep all the bugs away. Eggs are the fruit shops version of toilet paper. Our free range eggs are just about walking out the door. ... We have plenty at the moment including those big double yokers. The chooks are working overtime for us so everyone can keep up with all the beautiful home cooking that comes with this lock down. Hope you all keep it up when this drama is over. My dear 95 year old Mum had a fall and has ended up in St John of God hospital in Ballarat. She has a couple of little problems but they are getting her back on track and she will soon be back at Royal Freemasons. She is lapping up all the attention and enjoys being the new kid on the block so to speak. Can you believe it is 1 year since Lynn and I went off to Norfolk Island for my 70th thank goodness it wasnt this year as Corona would have put a stop to a wonderful holiday. Which brings me to the Queens Birthday holiday Monday. We will be open Saturday and Sunday as per normal but closed all day Monday for the Queens birthday, I dont mind sharing with such a great lady. Enjoy the first weekend of freedom wherever you may choose to go x x x See more

03.01.2022 At JONESYS our trademark orange tractor has a new seat for those special photos thanks to Michael. This week we have bags of onions, some round sauce tomatoes and some Roma sauce tomatoes if you have nothing to do this weekend. Also new seasons Royal Gala, the first of the new apples. No wax and sweet and juicy. ... There still are a few $10 Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh vouchers to be presented. Don’t forget to cash them in and enjoy some local produce. Rotary handed these vouchers out at the Australia Day BBQ/family fun day on The Village Green in Bacchus Marsh on the 26th January. We also have lots of local plums, strawberries and raspberries. Cherries are now finished. Get used to the seasons and enjoy what is at it’s best. Fingers crossed for Smokehouse 720 Michael has worked so hard to try and get it altogether for your enjoyment.

03.01.2022 Just a reminder we are going to keep our Corona hours as a trial run because we have got used to having a life. Saturday’s. 9:00 am till 4 pm Sunday’s. 10:00 am till 2 pm. ... Hope everyone can fit in these times. We will trial it anyway and see how it goes. A bit like the 1960’s and after all that was my era and I loved it. Look forward to seeing more familiar faces. It has been a great week this week a bit like a family reunion. Lovely to see you have all survived the ordeal and look so well.

02.01.2022 JONESYS dont want to talk about the virus any more, it might just go away and hopefully never come back if we all wash our hands a hundred times a day and no touchy feelie every body. We have just had a delivery of yummy HONEY to sweeten us up and give us all those good things our little bees give us. PASTA SAUCE is back for all those spaghetti lovers.
