21.01.2022 Coco ( Bichon Frise, 9 years ) Coco recently booked herself in for a week and sent her family off for a holiday. Actually she has made many bookings this year and next. She is dearly loved by us and is always welcomed and she also immediately feels at home. Of course, that makes us happy as well as her family.... Sometimes, I think I can imagine hearing the word Later as she races in the door. She is loved by everyone everywhere we go on our walks and gets many pats. She is ball mad and on our walk, it is not uncommon for her to nag to get the ball out of your pocket and throw it for me. Another dog who likes ice cream and she stalked us for the ice cream stick. We learn new things about your doggies all the time. Affectionately known as Biche or Cocomo, she is a joy to have and we can’t wait till her next stay. 21.01.2022 Fyfe ( Labradoodle, 4 years ) It is some 2 years since Fyfe last came to stay. Being one of our neighbourhood dogs, when out on his walks, he has often swung by to see who is staying with us. He has been known to stop at our house on his walks and bark until I come out to the gate. We also often run into him at the farmers market. Luckily, he found a cancellation and booked his family on a mid week sojourn.... He has been called the Mayor of Empire ave because of his uncanny way of perusing up and down the street to see what is going on. Indeed he was no different at our home and was the best outdoor patroller. Of course, most happy in the front yard where he can see everything. He is a fussy eater and would often leave his dinner till later. Of course, he always appeared by my side when I got the crackers and cheese out. I gave him a Greenie a few times which he turned his nose up at. Each time I would put it on his bed and sure enough in an hour or so, it would be gone. He also appeared at the dinner table, he would lay his head on your lap or on the table. He was more interested in our food than his own. We had an early morning walk each day and another in the afternoon. We hope he didnt go home demanding family walks at 5.30am. 21.01.2022 Max ( Labrador 2.5 years ) This was Maxy’s third visit. He knows how to sniff out a cancellation. He recently had 6 nights with us. On arrival, he came running in the house to say hello. We love it when our return guests are so happy to see us... He sleeps well in his bed beside ours, otherwise on the floor boards or the laundry tiles. Likes to say hi during the night with a nudge, wet nose and maybe his blanket in my face. He is good on his walks, he wants to say hello to everyone and can be a bit in other dogs faces and will jump up at humans to say hi. We keep him close and ask him to sit and wait which he will. He is very obedient and happy to please. Chasing the ball is always fun, try to catch him and the zoomies begin. He is the best rugby player, you won’t catch him when he has the footie in his mouth and he won’t give it up. He follows me everywhere and sits at or on my feet whenever he can . My shadow. We are very happy sitting at the marina watching the boats go in and go out. We could sit there all day. He takes treats gently and enjoyed dried chicken necks, pig trotter, fresh apple and some watermelon, he wasn’t a fan of carrots at all. I only heard him bark twice, both when someone walked past our home. 20.01.2022 Just a minute of your time please In these troubled times we face, I just wanted to share some information that you might find helpful. Pet Care -... We have many cancellations. I will no longer list them for obvious reasons, however if you have a need, you know where to find me. Pet Products - For those of you who purchase your Nexgard Spectra through me, I have already received your orders for March and April. I will deliver these as they are appropriately required. I have not yet noticed any delays in food deliveries, however I have been told by several suppliers to expect up to 5 days for delivery times and some have introduced a one only item per purchase. I am not really sure how this will play out, however without panicking anyone or suggesting panic buying, I just wanted to let you know. Going forward, If you dont currently purchase through me and cant find what you need, I will try my best to get it for you. Just sent me a message. We have plenty of Freedom No Pull Harnesses in stock. Please message me if you need one. We will now go a bit quieter on social media as we focus on our health and well being and hugging every dog we come across At this time, we are uncertain when we can return to normal business mode, however we will keep you updated with any developments. 19.01.2022 Evie ( Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, 4 years) I think this was Evies third visit ( 8 nights ) , she was booked for a longer stay however her family had to cancel their trip and decided on a shorter holiday closer to home. She likes to book in early for school holidays. I looked back on what I wrote about her on her last stay and nothing has changed at all. ... She still sheds a lot, still loves a walk and will tell me off if Im not quick enough out the door. Still loves a ride in the car, still throws her body on your lap or chest, still eats like its her last meal and still always looking for food. Still very social and happy to see all dogs and humans. She also has taken to sleep on my pillow and just try to move her off it. She is a heavy girl despite her exercise and dietary food. Very quiet when she went home but of course once again, just wonderful to see her reunited with her family. 17.01.2022 Andy ( Kerry Blue Terrier, 2.5 years ) and Wally ( Cairn Terrier, 1.5 years) The boys are very regular visitors and came back to stay with us recently for a weekend. They settled in quickly and immediately took over. We had lots of walks and fun play. Wally is very inquisitive while Andy is more placid, in fact he has a very gently nature. However watch out if Wally stirs him up or if there is some rumble, the fun starts. ... These guys are called @kerrycairnterrors for a reason. Watch out anyone who dares walk near any part of our fence, they will let you know about it. Wally has a very high pitched squeal which makes people turn and look from afar. They will be back again in about a week for a longer stay. 16.01.2022 Alfie ( Australian Shepherd, 6 years ) Alfie the Aussie recently returned for 4 days. He is another rescue dog and one of our regular visitors. While he is food obsessed, he is very gentle to accept it. Lots of walks on the waterfront and local neighbourhood kept his exercise up.... He chose to sleep on our bed mostly until he got hot , then he hopped down on to the floor. Loves people, unsure with puppies and definitely doesn’t like some dogs. He is another dog who happily runs in our front door to see us like he never left. He has a very good memory and knows the dogs behind their fences in the neighbourhood. As always, it is wonderful to see him happily reunited with his family. 16.01.2022 Andy (Kerry Blue Terrier, 2.5 years ) & Wally (Cairn Terrier, 1.5 years) We love these guys coming to visit. When they arrive , they come inside like they have never left and immediately make themselves at home. ... Although they love their walks, it can be an effort to get them ready as they run off and hide. I have to chase them around the carport and shepherd them into the car. Then we are good to go, except when Wally jumps over into the front seat. (Pam’s seat) And about them guarding our fence line, once again apologies to our neighbours and their dogs walking by. Barking and squealing (Wally) and chasing up and down the fence line. My ears still ring! They love walking along the waterfront and were very social with other dogs. We visited the markets and also the marina several times. Of course we spoilt them and Pam treated them with her usual supply of healthy treats. They discovered a human treat. When Pam opened an ice cream, Wally appeared and sat in front of her face and stared at her until she relented. It was a fun week and they will be back in February. 15.01.2022 Just when I thought I was going to enjoy a few days break, along comes Missy ( Labrador / Staffy 12 years ) ... It has been approx 2 years since this beautiful girl last came to visit us. Circumstances meant her family had to drive off quickly, we we were however pleased that we had a vacancy and could help at short notice. She stayed three nights with us. Missy is most happy when she is with you, unfortunately even at her age she still has separation anxiety, apologies to our neighbours. She did settle in the afternoons . She is most happy when she is with someone. We are having some landscaping done at home which meant we had to restrict her from the front yard and of course she wanted to be out there with Nigel and his team from #Chandlerparklandscaping Our back steps were too difficult for her. So I would put her harness on and out we would go then she headed for the gate and off on a walk. Considering her humans and I had agreed walking around the yard would be plenty of exercise, Missy thought otherwise. She chose to sleep in the lounge and liked to sleep in, no problem there. We gave her a cushion that she loved to lay on. She loved our treats as well, no problem eating her food. Shes a lab right! We just love our seniors and of course love this beautiful girl! 15.01.2022 Roma ( 9 years ) and Lola ( 11 years ) These beautiful girls are Shetland Sheepdogs and I have known them for well over 7 years now. Not only have we enjoyed exercise sessions over the years, they have come to stay with us many times. ... Sadly they have developed some health issues, Roma has a hip problem and Lola has developed an oesophagus problem. Her vet warned that her medication would make her very hungry. Sure enough this girl who was always such a finicky eater is now always hunting for food. She would nub her nose up at treats, not anymore! When I brought a roast chicken home, she just about did cart wheels in the lounge room. They still love a walk, however we go less distance now. They also decided they would or could not jump into the car or onto our bed and decided to sleep on the floor. Over the years they seem to have faded and shrunk with some grey around their faces however I’m told that Lola is overweight. Such dear girls, we love them very much. 15.01.2022 We were very happy for Barney and Minnie to come and stay just one night so their mum could go and help a family in an emergency. Barney and Minnie immediately came inside and made themselves at home. They also took over our bed and Minnie snored and grunted all night as she normally does - it was actually a bit of a relief to get up early and go for a walk to escape that snoring. After breakfast their mum called to take them home. 14.01.2022 Coco ( Bichon Frise, 8 years) Coco is one of our regular visitors, infact she will be back in November for a week. Like everyone, her familie’s travel plans were thrown into chaos this year but they have managed a few shorter trips away. ... We had lots of walks around the waterfront and several local parks. She is well known around Manly and accompanied her friends Eddie, George & Mini Me on their morning walks. She is ball obsessed and loves to roll around in the dirt. She always arrives so clean however goes home rather grey- a dirty dog. Her mum and dad are happy that she gets some dog time in the garden and manage to clean her up quickly. 13.01.2022 Della & Yogi ( Cavoodles, 3 years ) It is about 15 months since these guys last came to stay with us. They were originally booked for a longer stay, however Covid-19 upset their travel plans. Undaunted they were able to send their parents on a shorter holiday closer to home. They come from Chuwar for their holiday and then their parents continue on theirs. They arrived and were very happy to see me, immediately walked in the house and took over.... Both very happy on the lead and social with other dogs, however our fence line is well guarded, look out anyone who dares walk by. Yogi is ball mad, Della is very sweet and gentle, however they could play rough with lots of chasing tumbles. I remembered to keep my coffee cup high this time, you may recall on their previous visit I found Della slurping on my cappuccino. Always happy to see them reunited with their family, what wonderful guests, we really hope to see them again soon. 13.01.2022 Cleo ( Rescue Australian Cattle Dog, 6 years ) Cleo is my sisters dog and last September she came to stay with us for a month. This September she stayed 15 nights with us while her family went on a road trip. We visited #RabyBaydogbeach where she had a lot of fun chasing the ball in the park and the sea. With lots of walks on the waterfront in the evenings and early morning walks, we ensured she got plenty of exercise. She is not a fan of cats, ibis or plovers and can b...ecome very vocal at them. She can also become very vocal at me when each morning when I got my shoes she would be jumping up at me excitedly before I even mentioned the work walk. We love her dearly, such a joy to have around. Another ball and food obsessed girl. My sister has the same car as I do but a hatch. Cleo was happy to jump in the boot. Always up for a car ride. 12.01.2022 Dear friends @georgieclumber came to stay with us some time ago. He is a great dog, great nature and good with other dogs. His wonderful family rescued him after their dog passed on. His dad swung by home today and told me he lost his job due to COVID-19 and hasnt been able to secure any employment since. He is interested in doing some pet sitting, day care and overnight care. Georgie is happy for visitors to come and join his family.... Many of you know that we are fully booked for the rest of the year and heavily booked for 2021. His dad is worth his salt, a good bloke ( for a Kiwi ) and of course, a dog lover. The family lives in Wakerley, not far from Manly Road. If you can share this post, please do. 12.01.2022 Alfie ( Australian Shepherd, 6 years ) Like everyone, Alfies familys holiday was cut short due to not being able to travel overseas. They instead travelled within Queensland and so Alfie still came to hang out with us recently for a week. He also allowed others to book in around his cancelled days, win win for everyone. Alfie is a rescue dog, very gentle and a joy to be with. He planted himself firmly in our bed each night between Pam & I which made turning over a bi...t of a task, sorry Alfie you got a few elbows in the side during the night. He loves his food and treats, very food driven. He is also very well behaved, extremely intelligent and listens to all my commands. Sometimes he is a little unsettled with some dogs, he will happily greet some, others he will walk around giving them a wide birth, black dogs get barked at from a distance. Also not great in busy places and we knew that from his previous visit. Still our waterfront walks included the Farmers Market where he barked at many. When that happens I normally take him over to the seats near the pool. Im happy to sit there and Pam is happy to explore the markets, bringing me back coffee and treats for Alfie. Who wouldnt be happy? Alfie has several bookings with us, in fact he will be back to stay in October. She loved her walks and was happy to see other dogs, although a little timid. She also met new friends Eddy, George & Mini Me as well as Rambo. ... Once again the word must be out that there is better on offer here than biting into boring old kibble. The only way I could get her to eat her food was if I mixed some roast chicken in with it. 11.01.2022 Rocky ( Dachshund, Chocolate & Cream 3.5 yrs ) Chester ( Dachshund, Black 3.5 years ) & Jazz ( Papillon, 12.5 years ) These guys came and stayed with us in January, they were again booked in April however had to cancel due to Covid19. Luckily they found a cancellation and sent their family off for a shorter 8 night holiday. Rocky Balboa we call him. He is tough, robust, loud, bold and will have a go at anyone walking past our house. Did I say loud? well he would let th...e entire neighbourhood know we were going for a walk. The sound is like a non stop high pitched horn. He stirs every dog up in the neighbourhood, sorry to our neighbours. He loved to sleep under the blankets and snore a little. Despite his Balboa tendencies, he was at times a real lap dog, most happy sitting on your lap just like a cat. Chester is somewhat quieter, a real sweet little guy thankfully, although he can quite easily become stirred up by Rocky. Chester is also very much a lap dog and likes to sleep on my pillow or between Pam and my pillows. Both dogs have a voracious appetite, watch out for your fingers when giving out treats. They loved steak, salmon and roast chicken and their plates were all very well cleaned, not one crumb left. Both played well together although can be very rough at times. Jazz is a rescue girl and she settled in much more quickly then last time. She only likes a pat on her terms. She seems to tolerate the sausage shenanigans although a couple of times she hid out under the kitchen table. She is quiet and reserved, she is most happy doing her own thing however she did love her walk. She chose to sleep on the lounge and visited us a few times during the night to make sure we were all ok. 10.01.2022 Our second day of Day Care was another success. The same recruits ( Mini Me, Eddie, George & Coco) came to visit and left their mums and dads to work productively from home. We had fun with lots of running around the house and some treat hiding games. They tired fairly quickly and had a midday nap while I did some admin. ... Another round of outdoor fun and we all got on the bed and slept soundly from 3 to 4pm. 05.01.2022 Archie ( Labradoodle, 12.5 years) & Chivas ( Weimaraner, 3 years ) These beautiful guys recently came to stay with us for 6 nights, they immediately took over and learnt very quickly where the treat cupboard was. They would wait by it each morning, knowing Pam would come along soon and fill her treat container. Of course they won out every time. They of course learnt to sit by Pam at meal time because they were assured of some nice tasty morsels.... Archie is a dear sweet boy, very gentle and well mannered. He loved a walk and when I got my shoes and socks to get ready, he would be all over me. He would also let out some loud barks to hurry us up. Not only does Chivas display the usual characteristics of a Weimaraner, he is also a large one. Birds in the garden or chickens in neighbourhood yards will certainly get his attention. He was very energetic but he was also a lounge lizard and one that likes to lay up close to you and push you off. Two of them on our bed was a bit difficult, so Pam and I separated and one dog usually chose one of us to stay with during the night. One night Chivas slept on the lounge but of course made sure he came in a 2 am to say hello. Chivas came along with the Canine Bridle. I don’t like it, he doesnt like it, he doesn’t want to put it on and it cuts into his nose, he still pulls and can feel the tension on his neck and of course his breathing seems compromised. His mum and dad asked me to fit him with a Freedom No Pull Harness. I trialled him on a large and then decided he needed an XL for his comfort. He immediately accepted the harness. Well I’m pleased to say the harness is a success and he is pulling less than he was before. I got him to walk close by my side when he used to pull from side to side, sniffing and walking forward crossing in front. I hope his owners are delighted as I explained he will be better controlled with more use. Im very interested to hear how they have found it. 05.01.2022 Coco (Bichon Frise, 8 years) Our beautiful girl came back to stay for a week just after we returned from holiday. We tried our best to not over feed her and of course she got plenty of exercise just in case she perhaps got a few too many duck treats.... We also tried our best to keep her out of the dirt pile, well for the first three days anyhow. Of course, when our landscaper was here discussing our garden plan, she snuck behind us and very quickly rolled in the dirt and was instantly turned into a black dog. 05.01.2022 Max (Maltese Shitzu, 5 years) Max had to move out of his home for a few days due to fumigation and this gorgeous boy was recommended to us by his friend Lola from @kingsleygetaway. Luckily we had a cancellation and he stayed just two nights with us, however we still had plenty of walks and lots of fun. He had such a loud bark for a little dog as would be agreed to by anyone who dared walk past our property. ... He chose to sleep in our bed between us and he liked to sleep in. We didnt hear a sound all night. Normally we wouldnt run day care when we have an overnight guest however Max said no, go get them and then the fun began. We had chase inside and out, ball games, stand offs , argey bargey and its fair to say Max was told off several times for being too loud and roudy. I heard all of the day care gang went home exhausted, three even went to bed early foregoing their pre bed treats. 04.01.2022 Marley ( Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 9 years ) Marley is another return visitor and unfortunately his family had shortened and changed their holiday plans. Still he got to send them away for 11 Nights R&R. A watchdog he is not, he will let anyone in the yard and the front door, no problem.... He loves to lay in the sun and will find a warm spot, however he will always find his way to my side in the kitchen at morning tea for cheese and crackers. Such a finicky eater and very gentle too when he accepted treats. He would often ignore some of our delicious treats, till later in the day he might get to them. He had some lovely chop bones packed for his visit, he ignored them until he saw a crow trying to fly off with one. He would bark and chase it. He only barked a few times at the crow and also at the ball, not too interested in chasing the ball, just barking at it. Loved his walks and loved a car ride. He was generally happy to meet other dogs although some he would initially meet and then let out a little growl as if to say thats enough, on your way now. Till next time Marley, we had a lot of fun, two walks a day, I reckon you lost a little weight too. 02.01.2022 Cooper ( Rescue Bull Arab Cross, 8 months ) & Daisy ( Maltese Shitzu, 18 Years ) Luckily they heard I had a cancellation so booked in to visit us for three nights. I have provided Daisy and her friend Tallis with home visits and walks several times over the past few years. Unfortunately Tallis cruised over the rainbow bridge last year.... This year Cooper joined his new family and they love him dearly. He is a good boy though somewhat needy and a little err awkward , ok lets say rough with his new sister. Daisy is not shy in telling him off though. We had lots of fun and despite putting Cooper into time out a few times, he is learning manners slowly. He wasnt a bad dog , it was mainly for being too rough with Daisy. Daisy is another one of our seniors and we love them dearly ( stay well my girl ). We had lots of walks but a separate and shorter walk for Daisy due to her age. 02.01.2022 Tuesday is day care day. Day care was introduced to help out those clients working from home and today was another fun day. Here we have Eddie (Tibetan Terrier )... George ( Miniature Schnauzer ) Mini Me ( Lhasa Apso ) Coco ( Bichon Frise ) Habibi ( Bichon Frise ) Coco is ball obsessed and I have now taught George to also chase the ball. He is quickly learning, not so good at bringing it back. Eddy and Coco love to sit in the sun and will bark loudly at anyone who dares to walk past, even if they are on the other side of the road. Mini Me is our senior girl at 15 years and she sleeps most of the day. She loves to snuggle into Pams new wooly coat. Habibi loves to sit on me or near me. 01.01.2022 Today was our first day of day care. What a lot of fun we had. I actually also learnt how to relax a bit My four dogs, Eddie, George, Mini Me and Coco quickly wore themselves out by running around the house, chasing and barking at anyone that dared walk by our fence. They then spent the rest of the day lazing around and lots of naps, snoring too. Mini Me slept the most, she is after all 16 years old now. ... Coco is ball obsessed and I tried to engage George as well in ball fun but he just thought it was funny watching Coco. Im sure Coco will sleep very well tonight. Im really happy to have helped out my clients who are currently working from home and I really appreciate their support in this quiet time for me. So next Tuesday Ill be doing the same thing ( picks ups around 9.30 am) so if anyone is interested, please let me know.
