22.01.2022 RCM for Australia Mar 02, 2016 From 1st March 2016, all luminaires must be permanently marked with the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM)... From the 1st March 2016, all luminaires which could potentially cause electromagnetic interference and which are to be sold in Australia must be permanently marked with the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM), including all technical and record-keeping requirements. This requirement and compliance date has been set by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and it applies to all manufacturers or importers of complete luminaires, lighting controls or complex lighting components. The manufacturer or importer of the luminaire into Australia, is considered the Responsible Supplier who must ensure compliance with the requirements of the RCM. The RCM is to be applied in accordance with the requirements as set out in Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4417.1. The use of the RCM label for supply into Australia will generally be eligible for supply into New Zealand, and vice versa. The RCM is a registered trademark of two separate and distinct Australian Authorities: 1. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), who regulate Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). 2. The Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) who are the peak body of electrical safety regulators in Australia and New Zealand. ERAC have implemented the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS).
