25.01.2022 If you've been stuck at home and haven't driven your car as much due to COVID-19, we have a few easy tips to help you maintain your car! Our first tip is to protect your car battery by charging it or taking your car for a short drive. If a car isn't driven at least once every few weeks the battery will eventually start losing charge. In fact, many cars now have systems that draw on the battery even when the car is turned off. To help preserve the life of your battery, conside...r investing in a trickle charger and, at the very least, going for a quick drive or running the engine for a while once every couple of weeks. If you notice corrosion around your battery terminals, consider contacting your local Repco Authorised Service centre to have your car battery cleaned and inspected. They will also be able to charge you battery if necessary.

20.01.2022 Finally, our last tip is turning on your air conditioning at least once a week to help maintain your car's air conditioning system. When your car air conditioning isn't used regularly, the hoses and compressor seals in the system can dry out and crack. This can lead to refrigerant leaks and cause your AC to not work as effectively. To prevent this from happening, run your AC regularly (even when the weather is cool) to help keep the hoses and compressor seals lubricated. This will also help to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and fungus in your car's ventilation system, which can build up over time due to moisture and the constant changes in temperature.

Checking your tyre pressures can help to preserve the life of your tyres and save you money in the long run. Make sure your tyres are inflated to the manufacturer's specifications - the maximum and minimum psi can normally be found on the tyres themselves. Driving or moving your car every now and then will also help to prevent flat spots from forming on your tyres - a common problem when cars are left parked in the same spot for a long period of time.
