Be suspicious if someone contacts you demanding payment. Remember, we would never: Request the payment of a tax debt via prepaid gift cards (eg iTunes or Google Play) Ask for direct credit to be paid into a personal bank account or via an ATM Demand immediate payment, use aggressive behaviour, or threaten you with arrest or deportation. These are typical scammer tactics! If youre unsure about a call you receive, hang up immediately. Phone our scam hotline on 1800008540 to check if the call was legitimate or report the scam. 06.01.2022 Before you enter into a work agreement or contract with a worker check: 1) They are legally allowed to work in Australia. 2) Whether they will be an employee or contractor. 3) That you are registered with the ATO for PAYG Withholding. 4) Give your employee a Tax file number (TFN) declaration form.... 5) Give your employee a Standard choice form within 28 days of them starting, so they can nominate their preferred super fund. 6) Each pay period work out the PAYG amount to withhold from payments to your employee using the tax withheld calculator or tax tables online. 7) Each quarter, report and pay the PAYG Withholding amount to the ATO 8) Each quarter use the Super Steam system to pay the super guarantee to the nominated superannuation funds 9) Each year, provide a PAYG Payment Summary to each employee by 14 July.
