24.01.2022 The team at Bendigo Bank in Highett are supporting Bayside Community Information and Support Service by collecting non-perishable food items to be used in food hampers this Christmas. Food security is an issue for more residents than I think we are aware of. If you have something to spare from your weekly shop, I would encourage you to drop by and brighten someone’s day. 20.01.2022 Today I remember my maternal great-grandfather and grandfather who bravely fought in the Second World War in the Ramu Valley push and my maternal Uncle who survived Vietnam. I remember my paternal grandparents and their service to New Zealand. I remember all the civilians who suffered and continue to suffer today across our globe in countries torn by war and conflict. I remember the Frontier wars. I remember the service of men and women across the world even today. I dream and hope for peace so that no child grows up in a war zone. #lestweforget

20.01.2022 I want to talk about health checks. The impact of COVID-19 meant that many of us delayed regular checks and treatments. Today I had a procedure that was due 6 months ago. It was a relief to get it out of the way and that it went really well. I want to encourage everyone to book in and see your GP. Follow up on any concerns you have, little niggles or if something just isn’t right. There might be someone in your family who needs some encouragement to get to their next appointment, so please help give them a nudge. Don’t delay your healthcare any longer. Book in to see your doctor now stay on top of your health. #healthcare #checkups #covid_19 #GP #doctor

20.01.2022 Earlier this week, a big announcement was made about Suburban Rail Loop Stage One confirmed, with new underground stations at Cheltenham, Clayton, Monash, Glen Waverley, Burwood and Box Hill. To date in Cheltenham there have been 316 contributions - have you had a chance to share your thoughts? Please make sure your voice is heard https://engage.vic.gov.au/suburban-rail-loop-sta/cheltenham

17.01.2022 An enormous thanks to our whole community for being adaptive and flexible - postal voting and new ward structures!! It is such a great result to see the total number of people who voted in Wattle Ward. Well done on being part of this important process. It has been a big year with lots of unique challenges and seeing how much our community cares is really uplifting. Whatever the result on Friday, this is a community of people who have a bright future ahead. Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine today!

13.01.2022 Today the VEC held the declaration of results for Kingston Council. It was truly a privilege to stand up and thank all the residents of Wattle Ward for the honour to represent our community, the candidates who put their hearts into running, the outgoing Councillors for their legacy, my family and friends for their commitment and the Melb Uni/Trawalla Foundation’s Pathways to Politics program. We have great opportunity ahead of us to transform our community and I am so committed to helping us build a vibrant, flourishing and inclusive community!! Thanks to VEC and Council staff for hosting us this morning. #wattleward The Victorian Electoral Commission #elections #kingston #council #LGA The University of Melbourne #trawallafoundation

11.01.2022 Happy Monday Kingston - what a beautiful day it was! I want to share warm and heartfelt thanks with my community, Wattle ward. We are a community of generous, creative and hard working people and now more than ever, as we ease out the pandemic, we are resilient and connected. I am proud to let you know that I am the provisional candidate for Wattle Ward because of your support. I want to thank each and every one of you for showing up and voting, for contributing and for car...ing about the outcome of our Council elections. We are stronger together. An enormous heartfelt thank you to all my supporters - your encouragement means a lot and I am grateful for the messages, calls and emails. To community members for whom I wasn’t a first preference, I look forward to hearing how I can represent your views and what is important to you. I am so honoured by the privilege to serve our community and I will work hard to make sure our whole community is heard and the outcomes we dream of become a reality. I would like to congratulate Pam, Cindy, Heath and Rez on your campaigns. It takes a lot to campaign and you brought a strong community focus, respect, integrity and focus on the issues that we need to work on. I hope to continue your work and to collaborate with you to achieve great outcomes for our community. To the local traders who shared your support - I can’t wait to continue working with you to revitalize and recover our shopping strips and spaces. I am also so thrilled to continue supporting our fabulous community groups and rebuild as we move into 2021. On Wednesday, I will take the next step towards becoming the elected Councillor for Wattle Ward when the VEC declaration takes place. I look forward to sharing more with you and until then - sending you, your families and our whole community a warm thanks full of gratitude. #notyoureverydaycandidate #wattleward #kingstoncouncil #electionresult #Councillorelect

10.01.2022 In 2006 I was one of 12 Australians given an incredible opportunity to spend two months interning in the US House of Representatives. Washington DC is the most electric place to work and I was in awe of the people who work with such absolute commitment to democracy on both sides of the aisle as well as the vast NGO sector that hold Capitol Hill to account. I hope this shared and deep commitment to democracy, to justice and to fairness can prevail and we move towards a brighte...r future. It has been, and continues to look like a deeply unsettling and concerning time. Stay safe. We are all thinking of you. These words from Adrienne Maree Brown resonate: we recognize that voting is only meaningful when we act together as movement, as future ancestors today we put aside our egos we set down perfection, and our privilege, and our butbutbutandand righteousness today we show up for those furthest from power those carrying the most of our burden those we’ve already lost to hate in this pale time we say no where it is the only humane word and yes where it is a way forward, another breath we hold history and future in the balance. we vote to take up our responsibility we vote as both prayer and blessing we open the way, widen the way, change the way

07.01.2022 Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and I want to urge all of our community to take a stand. We all deserve to live full, flourishing lives free of violence. Today I remember the lives lost to family violence and my heart is with survivors of violence. 04.01.2022 Tonight we would normally invite our community to join us at the Moorabbin Town Hall to witness the swearing in of the new Council. Instead, to keep everyone COVID safe we are encouraging you to join us from your living room - put on your pjs, sit in the couch with something yummy to eat and join us for a very special moment. 03.01.2022 Proud to be part of change - this year 272 women were elected to local Council bringing women's representation in local government up to a record 43.8 per cent the highest in Australia. #pathwaystopolitics #womeninpolitics #localcouncio #wattleward #notyoureverydaycandidate

02.01.2022 Dining out. Something I took for granted and now appreciate a hundred times over. Evenings out as a single foster parent are rare and this was my fist time since lockdown- what a treat!! We have such a vibrant dining scene and Abbiocco Pasta and Wine in Highett is a standout. One very happy tummy after that gnocchi!! #highett #restaurant #winebar #gnocchi #italian #gourmet #diningoutmelbourne Broadsheet Melbourne Australian Gourmet Traveller

01.01.2022 Recognizing that our dining scene is vital to our recovery from the economic impacts of COVID-19, the first Council meeting for this term was an additional session to review local trader applications for Outdoor Dining Activation. The discussion explored safety requirements, disability access and needs of neighboring residents. It was a great outcome to have support for our local traders passed and I can’t wait to pop down to Highett and visit Hawker Bar laneway pop up and th...e parklets that will be installed! You can watch Council meetings here if you miss them: http://stream.kingston.vic.gov.au/archive/video20-1125.php At around 15 minutes you will hear me speak on the importance of accessibility and safety with footpath works needing to be resolved based on feedback from traders in Cheltenham who are doing a great job managing all the works #wattleward #Highett #Cheltenham #cityofKingston #outdoordining #Covidrecovery
