25.01.2022 These blown glass beads have been etched in my tumbler for about 4 hours to give them a matte, sea glass look. They were rinsed, dried and cloth polished and here I am applying a homemade beeswax and oil mix which will be buffed off leaving a beautifully silky, rich finish
21.01.2022 More flowers and leaves for Adventures with Alice. Mmmm....what could these be for?
18.01.2022 Here fishy! I don’t think I showed this little aquatic assemblage before it sold at the Mundaring Hills Open Studios. I was so pleased to see it go home with a lovely lady who I hadn’t seen for a while. I hope it makes her smile whenever she looks at it
17.01.2022 Ethnical Collection necklace 2, the finished piece from yesterday’s time lapse video. Design: The centre focal component was originally part of a bigger preloved necklace having 6 discs and metal drops. The 3 remaining discs will be used for a pendant and a pair of earrings. I’ve added my own blown glass beads and these form the body of the necklace interspersed with filigree brass beads. The metal drops now dangle fr...om the brass beads and I created glass teardrops to replace them on the centre discs. As you may know, I’m creating this collection as part of my work for Mundaring Hills Open Studios next month and I’m so excited to be a guest artist of @sophiemahirart in Darlington. The colour palette for this piece was inspired by one of her fabulous weavings and I can’t wait to see the two pieces together! See more
10.01.2022 The design stage. I’m so happy with how the etched beads look after the wax finish. Now I’m arranging them on a waste wire, trying out other components with them and getting the balance right. This usually takes some time as I remove, add and swap beads around to get my desired finished look
08.01.2022 Once I’m happy with the design and layout, I transfer from waste wire onto the final cord or wire before adding a chain and clasp fastening
04.01.2022 When your hubby is a tradie! I have a Foredom Flexshaft at the studio but a cordless drill would be much better for my current projects. Spoke to my man about getting one and his reply? I’ve got two, you can have one of them. On checking, he had three! This one is now mine.....result!
01.01.2022 Confused? Yes, I’m a glass artist but I’m moving into new realms for my Adventures with Alice exhibition. These boards have been sealed and today I primed with gesso. What are they for? All will become clear in time lol......I just hope my idea works
