People who develop antibodies after becoming infected with the coronavirus may not keep them more than a few months, especially if they showed no symptoms to begin with, a Chinese study shows. Previous studies had found that most people who became infected developed antibodies. Health departments around the world give antibody tests as a way to prove a person has already had the coronavirus. Scientists in the Wanzhou district of China studied 37 people who became infected with the coronavirus and showed symptoms and 37 people who became infected and showed no symptoms, according to the study published in the online journal Nature Medicine. Eight weeks after recovery, antibody levels fell to undetectable levels in 40% of asymptomatic people and 13% of symptomatic people, Nature Medicine said. The researchers noted that only a small group of people were studied and that the human body can also use T cells to kill the virus and B cells to produce new antibodies, Business Insider reported. Neither T cells nor B cells were measured in the new study. Business Insider reported that the researchers tested for two types of antibodies: immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM). IgG usually develops over a longer time period, meaning it's a better indicator of long-term immunity, Business Insider said. The decrease in detectable antibodies was sharp after 8 weeks, with a 71% median drop for IgG levels in the asymptomatic group and a 76% median drop in the symptomatic group, the study said. The findings call into question the idea of "immunity passports," which some countries want to issue to people who test positive for antibodies. These people would be allowed to go back to work and travel because they're supposedly immune to the virus. "Together, these data might indicate the risks of using COVID-19 'immunity passports' and support the prolongation of public health interventions, including social distancing, hygiene, isolation of high-risk groups and widespread testing," the authors wrote.

The Achilles is essentially like a really strong elastic band that pulls the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles, aka our calf muscle team, down into position. When we get tightness in these muscles it can pull and stretch the Achilles upwards. Then add in lots of repetitive movement on the muscles and the Achilles is going to start to want to tap out! . The most common causes for this injury is from poor running technique when you land the foot on the ground, poor footwear that isn't or no longer supportive, tight muscles in the calf muscles or from a previous injury in the Achilles that hasn't been treated. How to fix this + Stretching and strengthening will be your friend. Lengthening the muscle team will enable the Achilles to drop into its happy place. Strengthening the muscles attached to the Achilles will allow you to get stronger so you can keep smashing out those miles. Also if you haven't had a sports massage for a while now might be the time to get booked in. . + Think about your running technique during your sessions. The key is to land the foot straight to reduce any stresses on the Achilles which can occur from landing with your toes pointing outward or inward. . + You might need some new trainers that protect the foot and support the Achilles. Most running trainers have a 300-500 mile lifetime and cheap and cheerful isn't always key. Invest in some running specialist shoes.

Upon return, the three people who had neutralizing antibodies before departure were not infected on the ship.... The big question is, how long are COVID-19 antibodies protective? It depends on the titers, or the concentration of antibodies, in an individual's blood. People with more severe COVID-19 infection probably have more antibodies, which could possibly protect them from reinfection for a year or more. Milder infections lead to fewer antibodies and could possibly provide protection for up to 6 months. Reinfection of COVID-19 is possible. Studies indicate that about 10% of people with mild infections show little immune response, increasing their risk for reinfection. Reinfections are often milder and may be asymptomatic.
