24.01.2022 Many thanks to the lovely young lads that offered to pose for this photo in front of the street art at the Brisbane Powerhouse. So lovely of you to stop and chat and tell us about yourselves before doing such a fabulous modelling job. :-) Good luck getting your apartment in Brisbane and all that goes with a wonderful life here.

23.01.2022 Another little fellow calling for his Partner at Cania Gorge by the pool.

21.01.2022 I was in a Government building in Toowoomba a couple of days ago and was exploring the lovely flower gardens in search of bugs to photograph before I left the premises. I was quite astonished to find these blue and aqua flies eating the nectar just like the bees. I'm not sure on the ID of the fly as yet but I have posted this to an insect group to try and find out.

20.01.2022 Some bug love for you now from Cracow park in Qld. I haven't yet got an ID on this guy but if anybody is qualified to let me know please do. Thanks Edit: I now have an ID on this lovely specimen as an Amerila rubripes Moth. A lovely lady in a bug group helped me out :-)

19.01.2022 A bit of fun with some fire photography on the farm :-)

19.01.2022 And another find on my walk around Emerald this morning :-)

19.01.2022 Full moon rising at a distance. No tricks the real thing, just a very long lens :-)

19.01.2022 What a lovely little town Moura is. Quite a bit of history and things to see and a nice big IGA to stock up on goodies. I can't wait to do a full silo trail but haven't had the opportunity yet. I think the water tower art is often included in the silo trails or maybe I am wrong. I must check that out. ... This is a 30 second exposure which creates this moving cloud view as the wind blows the clouds along.

19.01.2022 Street art from Hosier Lane Melbourne that hadn't seen the light of day till today. I do love my street art photography so for the lovers of this style I hope you like it and for any haters of it please just scroll by :-) I realise it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

18.01.2022 If you live in sandy areas in northern and eastern Australia, keep your eye out for a small, pudgy frog with brown colouring and markings. The Ornate Burrowing Frog, Platyplectrum ornatum, grows no larger than 50mm and is often MISTAKEN FOR SMALL CANE TOADS :-(. These frogs are generally active after heavy rain during spring and summer. Warm humid nights are a good time to find foraging adults. Ornate Burrowing Frogs feed on all the invertebrates found in leaf litter, garden ...mulch or compost heaps, from ants to worms, slaters, beetles and even other small frogs. It is in these cool moist places in your garden that you will find them. Ornate Burrowing Frogs burrow during dry or cold times. They occur in a wide range of habitats from the coast to central arid environments. Their feet have special hardened plates known as tubercles that they use like a shovel to help them dig their burrows. They burrow backwards at an angle giving them the name 'backwards-sliding burrower'. Breeding occurs only after heavy rain and breeding sites can range from puddles to large dams. Males will call with a fast 'unk', while floating in still water. Females lay up to 1,600 eggs in a small, dome shaped foam mass they create by slapping their hands down on the surface of the water to catch air bubbles (the male hangs on her back the whole time). The mass collapses within hours into a single floating film layer of eggs and jelly. The Ornate Burrowing Frog has a varying rate of metamorphosis ranging from around 20 to 90 days depending on the local environmental conditions. Tadpoles may develop quickly if they are in small water pools - ideally, they are ready to leave the water by the time the water pool dries up. If you live in the right climate, these frogs will live happily in suburban areas so put in a ground pond to attract them to your backyard. Did you know? These frogs can drown in swimming pools as they have no way to climb out. A hinged wooden platform which extends into the water can help these and any other ground frogs to get out of your pool. Tip Be careful when gardening as you may dig up a little frog. You can rebury it, and the frog will be fine. Avoid touching or taking tadpoles or frogs from ponds, temporary water sources, puddles and so on, as doing so can spread diseases between different frog populations.

18.01.2022 Another shot from my early morning walk around Emerald a few days ago. This shot was taken just before Sunrise. Speaking of Sunrise I best get to bed before the sun comes up today. Photography editing sure chews into your evenings :-) Have a great day everyone

17.01.2022 Home for the next few months on the farm. Awaiting the Covid to sort itself out to start heading South. This night was so dark and so clear although the bit of light on the horizon is the Tarong Power station. P.s. guys you need to open this to see it fully as FB has once again taken all the quality from the thumbnail viewed as you scroll. Thanks :-)

15.01.2022 Praying for rain at Lake Victoria Qld about 2 months ago. I think the Heavens have opened up now for him :-)

15.01.2022 A side on view of the lovely "Praying for rain" Frog from Lake Victoria Qld.

13.01.2022 Another photo from the public toilets of Banana Qld. A beautiful Wolf Spider.

12.01.2022 This was the 2nd time I have visited the Lavender farm but this time the Lavender was flowering which was great. I also tried the Lavender scones and the Lavender wine. The wine was very nice and I'm not a wine drinker. A bit like a sweet Moscato.

11.01.2022 Hi all, sorry my posts are few and far between when traveling as the whole procedure of downloading photos form cameras, sorting and then editing the raw files takes much time and power when I don't do it often. Anyway I am on the farm for a bit again and this is our resident Goanna and I'm assuming around 10-20 years old by his size. He walks in a kind of triangle shape on the land as we always see him in the same areas. So this is how dry the land is right now, he comes do...wn about twice a week for a drink in the house yard. I have set up (what is a bit hard to see in the photo) a large black plastic bird bath with a little garden around it for the birds, frogs and the bugs and it now seems the Goannas too lol. I have another photo but it didn't show him up as well of him hanging over the side of the bird bath drinking. This was just as he had finished and was heading back to cover I guess.

10.01.2022 Now some almost microscopic bug love also from Cracow park in Qld. I could see what appeared to be through my camera an ant eating a white fairy floss like substance. It was only when I zoomed in I realised the fairy floss was actually a living creature. The info I have so far suggests the tiny orange critters are either at egg stage and or just hatching, the white and orange stage are nymphs and the green guys are the adults. I'm not sure if this is 100% correct but either way they are very interesting. I was also told the y excrete a honey like substance which the ants like to eat. How wonderful is Mother Nature?

10.01.2022 So a bit of a chop around from my last Wildlife shot to Street Photography. A lovely outing with a good friend in Queen Street Mall Brisbane :-)

09.01.2022 The Birthday Cat's paw. My wonderful boy turned 9 today.

08.01.2022 Just some cute cows on the farm that includes a nose licker. There's always one lol

08.01.2022 We had a lovely time watching and travelling on the trains in the Gulf Country. We organised with one of the train staff to shoot this shot at this particular spot about 22km on the road from Croydon to Normanton. They told us the time to be there and slowed down a bit for the photo. All of the train staff were so friendly in these areas and helped me out to get many train shots.

08.01.2022 The Sweetest of girls. My 8 month old Granddaughter posing for Nanna J on the farm :-)

07.01.2022 Now this little guy was a real character. When I shoot Wildlife I always start back a fair way in case they run away and you miss the shot, then I gradually get in closer. Well this guy stayed for the whole photo shoot and then I tried to encourage him off the road so he didn't get run over but he wouldn't budge. I never thought but I should have taken a macro photo of his face close up. I'm sure he wouldn't have had a problem with that lol

07.01.2022 When the beautiful light surprises even your own eyes!

05.01.2022 Hi all. So I've seen Cicadas before and I've seen their shells, but I've never seen the Metamorphosis before till a couple of nights a go at our camp. Now I know why I love to walk around at night spotting bugs to photograph :-)

05.01.2022 So this guy has come to our few week old frog Hotel but he is living in the Bromeliad that is sitting on a brick in the water part. Nice to get a photo of one in this plant as I have seen so many photos but have never seen a frog in one before to photograph. He's such a cutie. He has been here for 3 days now. I was also surprised looking at this close up how many battle scars they have. This guy hatched with many around 3 months ago and already he has slashes, a mark on his lip and a mark in his eye etc.

05.01.2022 I love Railway photography and so this morning I went off in search of some rail scenes. I was lucky enough this Locomotive went by for a 6 sec long exposure :-)

04.01.2022 When Nanna is a Photographer the days are long. I think she was trying to tell me she had had enough lol. Nanna only got the grumpy face for this photo

04.01.2022 A walk to a new weir in Emerald today yielded a very old car with a name on it. The Signwriting has stayed intact.

04.01.2022 Well hello all! It's been a while! 3 months in fact since I have had reception to post photos. So here we have a gorgeous Naked Froggy, one of 16 I saw basking in the crevices and water of the public Men's toilets of Banana Qld :-)

04.01.2022 Just a friendly big fellow out and about a couple of nights ago :-)

02.01.2022 My very good Photography friend Vicki from Melbourne and her husband Trevor took me on 2 full day outings and a night outing when I was visiting my Son Joel in 2019. Another photo that has just seen the light of day. I can't wait to go back exploring here again in the near future.

01.01.2022 "A masked passing during Covid" Brisbane near Anzac Square.
