25.01.2022 Loved this shoot for @doshafoodco! Their ethos is 'Food to Feed Your Soul' and I fell in love with that concept. Food has always been a passion of mine, and I always think it's best when it's healthy, fresh and easy. . Hands up any other foodies out there .... . . . . . #jenniferschmidtphotographer #foodphotography #canon #communityovercompetition #risingtidesociety #womenwithambition #startuplifestyle #brisbaneeats #brisbanefood #ladystartup #bossbabetribe #createeveryday #creativehappylife #creativeentrepreneur #brisbanephotographer #storyofmytable #eatmoremagic #onmytable #foodphotoshoot #belightinspired #getpropped See more

22.01.2022 Want to know how to make your restaurant website pop? TELL YOUR STORY: Let your audience know about your passion for food and why you started your business. Showing behind the scenes is a great way to showcase this and connect with your audience. KEEP CONTENT FRESH & UP-TO DATE: From photos to opening times & events, make sure that all the info on your site is correct. OFFER ONLINE RESERVATIONS: Make it easy for people to book a table... MAKE IT ON BRAND: Take the time to ensure that your restaurant’s digital branding efforts align with the in-house experience. PROFESSIONAL FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY: Your restaurant website will be the first point of contact that customers may have with you. It’s important that it makes a great first impression and really captures their attention and appetites. They want to see what type of food they can expect and iPhone images just won’t cut it when you are trying to stand out from the crowd. See more

22.01.2022 I rarely shoot people but this is still one of my favourite to date. Chef Dominique Rizzo of Putia Pure Food Kitchen, Pantry, Cooking School by Chef Dominique Rizzo had so much energy and passion and I loved watching her in action.

22.01.2022 Morning! How are we all doing? All fired up for a new week ahead? I've got a busy week ahead with client work so I'm going to try and make sure that I'm eating right during the day to keep me going! How do you sneak self-care into busy weeks? I'd love to hear your tips and tricks.

22.01.2022 70% of customers say that photographs influence their purchasing decisions. Can you afford not to invest in quality food photography? Let's work together - [email protected]

22.01.2022 5 reasons great food wins you more clients: 1 THEY HELP BUILD UP CLIENT EXPECTATION & ANTICIPATION - A generic stock photo of a might help show people that you are a bakery but a quality image of your specialty apple crumb cake styled and photographed beautifully will really get people queuing outside the door. You want to whet the customer’s appetite and get them excited about your products. 2IT SHOWCASES YOUR PRODUCT AND SHOWS PEOPLE THE REASON THEY WANT TO BUY IT -... Great photos highlight to people why they want to buy or try your product. 3PEOPLE RETAIN 65% MORE INFORMATION WHEN WORDS ARE PAIRED WITH AN IMAGE - And 60% of people are more likely to select a business with images in its local listing. 4PEOPLE EAT WITH THEIR - Make sure that the imagery on your website and social media captures their attention and has them running through the door to try your food. 5HIGH-QUALITY IMAGES TAKE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL - Millennial’s use of Instagram as a way to decide what and where to eat. Pictures hold power and for this demographic, a low-quality photo could spell bad news for your food business. Word of mouth is now done through sharing images and with people’s tendency to scan a page and make judgments quickly based on looks you want to make sure that your food imagery stands out and makes you the obvious choice over your competitors.

21.01.2022 Missed breakfast? I think a chocolate brownie with a cup of tea is the only answer Who's with me on that?

21.01.2022 Sometimes when I'm really into a shoot I can let the hours fly past and it isn't always great for me. My hubby always reminds that I need to take a break and refuel and soups are a really easy way to do this. . What's everyone's favourite go-to lunch?

20.01.2022 I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream.... what is your favourite ice cream flavour? For me, it has to be salted caramel Although these frozen yoghurt popsicles dipped in chocolate and topped with freeze dried berry powder come a close second!

19.01.2022 There's nothing like those leisurely weekend breakfasts. Even better when it's a breakfast buffet, like this spread capture for Sofitel Brisbane Central

19.01.2022 Dont you love those moments when everything just naturally falls into place? To be honest, I wish that was everyday, but hey, Ill take it when I can get it. That was the case for this image. When I first saw the size of this roast pork, in its huge yellowy orange blobiness I wondered how I was going to make it look attractive in the image. But hey, I love a good challenge? The answer was a top down image that tells a story.... That story is of freshly roasted pork with SUPER crunchy crackling fresh out of the oven being carved up. The addition of the towel (which tells the viewer that the tray is fresh out of the oven) the apple sauce, gravy, sage and salt and pepper add to the story without distracting from the main element. The fabulous roast pork. See more

19.01.2022 This is perhaps one of my absolute favourite images I've shot to date. Featuring the most amazing array of seafood, the concept behind this shoot was to showcase the delicious range of seafood available at Sofitel Brisbane Central Thyme2 buffet. What I had in mind here was creating a little glimpse of life underwater. The red emperor is clearly the star of the show, surrounded by beautiful crabs, moreton bay bugs, mussels, oysters and clams. Herbs add a lovely pop ...of green that I used to mimic seaweed. If only you could have seen the behind the scenes shots!! I'm a big believer in using only real food, which also meant real ice....which needless to say melts! And melts fast!! My poor assistant (aka my husband) had to crawl on the floor with towels at the ready to stop the stream of water that flowed from the quickly melting ice. I counted down from 3 before I took the shoot and he would quickly move the towels away so we could capture the scene. Afterwards, we had a huge mess to clean up, and thankfully my beautiful painted backdrop survived, but I think you'll agree it was all worth it! What magic goes on behind the scenes in your business that people would never suspect? See more

19.01.2022 TBT to this shoot I did with @wendysmilkbar. I love working with them and will be shooting something new for them soon so keep your peeled!

18.01.2022 Another from my shoot with @superduperfoodco

18.01.2022 Make the right impression with images that show the same love, care and passion you put into your products . Want help boosting your visual identity? Then reach out and let's connect

18.01.2022 One of the biggest reasons I find a lot of people don't invest in food photography for their business comes down to cost. Yes, the initial investment can be pricey, but it is exactly that, an investment in your business! You've put in the hard yards developing delicious food so why would you waste all of that hard work with poor quality photography? . It has been proven over and over that great food photography is what draws customers in and ultimately drives sales. When you compare a professional-quality photograph of to a snapshot of unstaged food, it’s not rocket science to figure out which drives more sales . Showcasing your food is the number one thing you SHOULD invest in when promoting your business. . Are you letting all of your hard work and your delicious food down by not investing in quality photography?

18.01.2022 #fridaymood Drinks, snacks, great chat....the best way to end the week! What's everyone up to this weekend?

18.01.2022 Dont you just love it when everything just comes together effortlessly? This impromptu image was the last one shot but turned out to be my absolute favourite. This gorgeous spread was something I styled for Aussie QBee honey a while back. It was at the end of the shoot and my client asked if we could squeeze in a group shot. I envisioned a picnic scene (perhaps because it was a beautiful sunny day outside) and grabbed props from my collection and bits and pieces from my pantry and fridge. Then it all started to flow together. Isnt it funny how sometimes everything comes together effortlessly and yet on other days its a struggle? And yet, in the times I struggle, we all struggle, sometimes the best things come out of that too. Do you find that too?

17.01.2022 So today I wanted to spread some love and let you guys know the 3 accounts that I LOVE following: @claybeehive - for absolutely stunningly gorgeous and amazing ceramics @meerasodha for her amazing vegan recipes (her vegan cauliflower korma is a firm favourite in my house) @chateaugudanes for all my French day dreaming fantasies! ... What accounts are you loving right now? Would love to here what or who is inspiring you.

17.01.2022 #throwback to this Ice-Cream cake because does it get any better?

17.01.2022 Hands up who is would like a bowl of this for breakfast this morning? I just love the beautiful swirl in the yoghurt and the morning light in this shot. Im slowly recovering from a bout of bronchitis. Lesson learned is to listen to my body and rest when my body tells me to in the future, instead of pushing through. ... Only a couple more weeks until the Christmas break! I cant wait!

16.01.2022 One of the biggest fears of food photography is the cost. Yes, the initial investment can be pricey, but the long-term benefits FAR exceed the initial . . Showcasing the food is what you SHOULD be spending the most money on when considering promoting your restaurant or food product. . We can almost guarantee that those who have invested in professional photography have never regretted that decision.... . PLUS think of all the places you will be able to use the images. That initial investment starts to whittle itself to a more feasible cost after the photographs are plastered on all of your print ads, social posts, online ads, and menus . Want help creating stunning images for your business? me to see how I can help. See more

12.01.2022 I haven't posted in a LONG time. There's a reason for that. My husband landed a new job in Canberra, so we recently moved from Brisbane to Canberra. This meant uprooting my business, and starting again in Canberra, but thankfully I'm also still working with my Brisbane clients. Albeit remotely. This image is from a recent campaign for one of my Brisbane clients Berry Fresh Australia. Berry Fresh make the most AMAZING range of freeze dried berry products, ranging from powders, crumbles and whole freeze dried berries. The goal of the campaign was to showcase the different ways their products could be enjoyed and I had so much fun getting creative with this delicious range. Showcased here is the freeze dried blueberry powder. How pretty is the powder? And it packs a punch in the flavour department too!!

09.01.2022 I had the pleasure of working with the wonderful The Tea Nomad recently. I'm more than a little obsessed with tea (my husband jokes that our pantry is a tea shop as I have so many different teas). I just adore the concept and the packaging behind The Tea Nomad. How gorgeous are these copper tins? And I especially love that the tins have a second lid on the inside to make sure that your last cup of tea is as fresh as your first. This image was for the beautiful Kyoto tea, a gorgeous blend of sencha, with a hint of orange and yuzu, with the beautiful addition of rose petals and jasmine. One of my favourites from the entire range. If you are looking to add to your tea collection be sure to check out the Tea Nomad as part of the Handmade Canberra virtual market this weekend.

08.01.2022 A few months back I had the pleasure of capturing some of the menu items for National Press Club of Australia. This shoot actually happened relatively early on in COVID to help promote The Press Clubs pivot into offering online meal deliveries. It was so wonderful to help and support businesses at a time when we all had to make adjustments to the way we do things.

05.01.2022 Who loves a good success story? A little over a year ago I first worked with @berryfreshau on capturing images for the launch of their new freeze dried berry products. Since then the Berry Fresh team have been busy flying around the country showing off their delicious products at cake shows and fairs. And it has been so wonderful to follow their progress as theyve gone from strength to strength.... We worked together again recently on more NEW products theyve added to their collection (pictured here is the freeze dried banana crumble which is AH-MAZING!! ) Jimmy and the team are really passionate about what they do and I think that shines through in all they do. From their delicious products right through to how they engage with their customers. See more

05.01.2022 Who is planning their goals for 2020? Running a small business (or any business for that matter ) is HARD work!! And we often get SO caught up in just getting "all the things" done or planning for the year ahead we forget to sit back and reflect on the year that was. Part of my planning process for the year ahead is to look at the successes, the lessons learned and how much Ive grown. ... Then I use that to help me refocus and realign for the year ahead. Ive written out my goals in my @cultivatewhatmatters planner. My number one goal for the year? Be kinder to myself. Be less critical and stop comparing myself to others. To that end, Ive put a poster on the wall at my desk of my favourite quote to help me keep this in mind all year long. "In order to be irreplaceable one must be different!" - Coco Chanel What is your number 1 goal for 2020? See more

04.01.2022 On editing days I love listening to my favourite playlists as I work. At the moment I'm loving Big Band & Swing Essentials to get me in the flow. Another hack I use to make sure that I stay focused and productive is to use the Pomodoro Technique. Taking regular breaks not only helps me avoid that screen tunnel vision but I find it helps to come back and look at an image with fresh . How do you keep yourself motivated when working from home or having a full-on desk day?

04.01.2022 Why does the weekend always whiz by? Is it just me that feels like that? I love spending my weekends cooking up a storm. I am a massive advocate of meal planning and prepping. It really helps me eat right during the week especially when I am swamped with work. I know a lot of people hate left overs but my favourite thing to do on a Sunday is cook a big meal that I know I can re-use for my lunches during the week.... How did you spend your weekend?

03.01.2022 I couldn't do what I do without the help of my husband Troy is my number 1 supporter. I jokingly refer to him as my PR person as he loves talking to people about what I do, which is something I'm definitely not good at. 01.01.2022 That's not a knife.... THAT'S a knife!!! Who remembers that iconic moment in Crocodile Dundee? Throw back to this fun shoot for Kilcoy of this AMAZING tomahawk.

01.01.2022 When it comes to styling for shoots, sometimes it's all about stripping it back to the simplicity of the product shot . This let's the client re-purpose the images in a whole heap of ways for marketing materials. Any photos you get you should be able to use over and over in different ways.

01.01.2022 In addition to food I sometimes photograph products as well. Such as these plastic jugs for @rewardhospitality.
