24.01.2022 Here is the wonderful Sarah and the real-life Enzo celebrating our new book! I had exciting plans to visit them both during these school holidays but of course had to cancel due to travel restrictions Hoping it won’t be too long before I can get up there to see them! And I LOVE how chill Enzo looks in the second photo What a star!! ... Thanks to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for the gorgeous pics!
21.01.2022 Anyone else out there adore pretty endpapers?
20.01.2022 If there is one piece of advice I could give to any budding young artists out there, it would be this: Don't lose heart during the early 'ugly' phase of your artwork! Sometimes it is difficult to believe that your artwork is going to turn out okay, but if you power through and keep working on it you might just be pleasantly surprised! Here is my lovely Gang-gang cockatoo as he appears in HAVE YOU SEEN A TREE FOR ME? The second pic is the disheartening messy stage of the artwork - glad I kept going!! New Holland Publishers

This was recorded just as I was finishing up my illustrations for HAVE YOU SEEN A TREE FOR ME? New Holland Publishers... https://omny.fm//newcastlelibraries/jenny-goodman-mixdown

16.01.2022 I thought I would share some videos that I made during the illustration process of HAVE YOU SEEN A TREE FOR ME? Here is me colouring in a cow while listening to a good audiobook New Holland Publishers
15.01.2022 Time to tackle cow number 2! I loved making these characters. I developed my character design for these cows while sitting on the sidelines during summer swimming lessons. When it came to the final version, I painted a smooth watercolour background then coloured with pencils over the top. Don't forget to check out the book they appear in: HAVE YOU SEEN A TREE FOR ME? Visit your local bookstore, or head to booktopia to purchase New Holland Publishers
14.01.2022 Hi guys! Thought I’d share a photo of myself in my workspace for #marchmeetthemaker ! This is where I my drawings come to life! BTW, it hardly ever looks this tidy - My desk is usually covered in pencils, papers and paints, and most days my dog knocks over my bin which means there are ALWAYS pencil shavings all over the floor!
13.01.2022 One year ago today was my book launch of A Boy and A Dog. What a great day that was!
13.01.2022 What a darling! Lucky me had the privilege of capturing the beautiful Willow last week! Look at the colour of those eyes!! Dionne Johnston Prismacolor Pencils
13.01.2022 It’s finally here! Proud as punch of this beautiful new picture book which shines light on the plight of our koalas. Beautifully written by koala specialist Sarah Eccleston from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and lovingly illustrated by me! This book is aimed at 3-8 year olds, and follows a sweet little koala named Enzo as he searches for a tree of his own and encounters some of the very real challenges faced by our koalas today. I hope you love it as much as I do! @newhollandpublishers
12.01.2022 Nothing to see here - it's just Celeste Barber promoting my new book
10.01.2022 Sunshine on my desk during the illustration process for ‘Have You Seen A Tree For Me?’. Honestly, this book was such a delight to illustrate. Gorgeous Australian scenery and cuddly koalas as my subject New Holland Publishers
09.01.2022 Brilliant segment on the Morning Show discussing koala conservation and HAVE YOU SEEN A TREE FOR ME? with Sarah! I love when she says that she wants the kids of the future to be "koala conservation champions". If there is one hope I have for this book, it is that it will inspire just this! Queensland friends, make sure you drop in and check out all the amazing work being done at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary PS - A bit excited to see my illustrations on TV!
09.01.2022 So cute!! My dog was staring intently through our back fence this morning and upon investigation we spotted this little guy waddling along. We see him a few times a year, and today was one of the days!
09.01.2022 What a year it’s been so far! Like so many around the globe I have had my head down, dealing with the challenges 2020 has thrown at us. I thought it was probably time to pop up and say hello! I’ve spent the past months working on a beautiful project - and as you can see I have using up lots of green pencils! Can’t wait to share this delight of a book with you!
08.01.2022 Hey guys! I’ve updated my website! Be sure to check it out (and let me know if anything’s not working!) #technologychallenged

07.01.2022 Thanks New Holland Publishers! Absolutely loved illustrating this special book!
05.01.2022 I am often asked how long it takes me to complete each artwork that I make for my books. It’s a difficult question to answer because each artwork has many different steps along the way and different levels of complexity. Here is my usual process for completing a book illustration: 1. Character design and page layout sketches (It usually takes me at least a few months to complete the book’s first and second drafts) 2. Outlining/tracing design onto art paper (Can take a few... hours per artwork depending on how complex the design is). 3. Stretching the paper then waiting for it to dry (around 20 minutes to stretch then 24 hours to dry) 4. Applying masking fluid if necessary (20mins to 2 hours then 24 hours to dry) 5. Painting the backgrounds and waiting for it to dry (I usually do simply painted backgrounds that are quite quick from 30mins to 2 hours and then another 24 hours to dry) 6. Removing masking fluid (up to half an hour) 7. Colouring in with pencils (Anywhere from 6 hours to a few days). It’s a long process and when I am creating the final illustrations I will usually have about four or five artworks on the go at once, all at various stages of completion. But I love it to pieces, and I listen to lots of wonderful audiobooks and have a fine old time It’s such a joy to see a project come to life in front of your eyes through your hands! (Of course, then I have to scan the artworks all in, and prepare the digital files. This part is NOT a joy! Haha) New Holland Publishers

05.01.2022 Adding some colour to my page in the form of rainbow lorikeets!
04.01.2022 Reposting this drawing I made last year in celebration of my Dad’s retirement. My dad had a wonderful 40-year career as a perfusionist and I’m very proud of his incredible life-changing contribution to society. I think this year more than ever, we all have a great appreciation for those in the healthcare industry. Here he is working on the heart-lung machine during cardiac surgery. Massive thanks to all the healthcare professionals out there!!... Btw, this is probably the most detailed drawing I have ever done
04.01.2022 Hey Teachers! HAVE YOU SEEN A TREE FOR ME? is a FANTASTIC resource to encourage conversation about koala conservation with our kids! 02.01.2022 Excited to have this new book released next month! Written by koala specialist Sarah Eccleston (from Currumbin Sanctuary on the Gold Coast) and illustrated by me! This is a gorgeous little book that follows Enzo the koala as he encounters some of the challenges our koalas are facing while looking for a tree of his own. A wonderful way of introducing our children to the plight of koalas and ways they can help. It will be released during SAVE THE KOALA month - September 2020!
02.01.2022 Obsessed with my dog’s soft, sweet fur! I did a quick graphite portrait of her earlier this year. Haven’t posted the full drawing yet as I need to make some adjustments around her face, but haven’t found the time - I'm already working hard on the next book
