24.01.2022 I just received this email from my association. So its down tools for the next 6 days. Starting as of midnight Thursday 19th November 2020 Sorry all. "Dear Jennifer,... The South Australian Premier announced this afternoon that, effective from 11.59pm tonight, South Australia will be entering a six-day lockdown in which only one person per household per day is allowed to leave the house, and only for essentials such as groceries or medical care. It is our understanding at this time that therapeutic massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists will NOT be able to work for the next six days while this lockdown is in place...... 13.01.2022 Well we got the official word last night.... During Morrisons speech Tuesday night he said, quote, "In terms of personal services where there is a lot of contact obviously between those providing that service in a premise and the patrons, the following now won’t be able to continue. Beauty therapy, tanning, waxing, nail salons and tattoo parlors and the same for spa and massage parlors. That excludes health related services in those areas. Physio therapists, things of that na...ture, health related and allied health services......." end quote... So to me and many others, in one sentence he said shut down no keep working.. When he said massage palours did he mean massage therapists.?? We dont us the word parlours (as usual that refers to brothels) but sometimes people dont know this.. . So did he mean us or not..? When he said allied health was ok to continue ( which remedial massage therapists come under) did he mean us? He said physiotherapy was ok but no mention of massage therapists so again did he mean us or not. ? Clear as mud. Our associations have been trying to get clear yes or no, close or trade. Last night it came through. Sorry its a close. For massage to continue trading we have to be registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency..) which very few massage therapists are. This is more a physiotherapy organisation. So even though we are listed under the allied health, and have provider numbers, we also have to be AHPRA registered, which I am not. So its now cleared up and sorry everyone I am now officially, definitely, closed.

12.01.2022 Hi. As some of you have heard, restrictions are easing and the SA government has finally given a statement about Remedial Massage. The statement was to this question ... Can I get a massage? ... "Massage parlours are closed. However, remedial or therapeutic massage and myotherapy services provided in a clinical or health care setting may continue." Thus started the argument as to what was classed as a "clinical or health care setting...." Some associations said that was classed as a shop front and NOT home business, as mine is. Others say its ok for home business as long as its 100% separate from your home dwelling... So a separate entrance and exit to your clinic than to your house entrance. (Tick) That you massage rooms are separate to your home dwelling (Tick) That you have separate toilet facilities. (Damn! Thats a cross/no) So debate continues. The problem with the debate is if we don't know if we can trade or not, then the police also don't know, and I run the risk of a $5000 fine. So I am still seeking clarification before opening again. On top of this there are now particular TGA approved and Covid approved cleaning products and other products that I need to get. Firstly I have to find a distributor that has it IN stock. Then I have to get it delivered and that its not a quick turn around. What used to take a couple of days is not taking several weeks to arrive. I am doing all the new training and courses relating to Covid 19 and learning all the new required operations and protocols. I will keep you informed once I get clear clarification and when I have a reopen date, I don't think it will be much longer. Thanks Jenny

12.01.2022 Hi. Update 11th May 2020 Restrictions have eased alot now. However I am still waiting for delivery of cleaning products and personal protection equipment. Also my clinic is in a mess ( disovered a small termite attack) and need to be restored back to normal. Almost there. ... And ontop of that, it was mothers day yesterday and I didnt was to return to work the very next day. (Sorry bit selfish of me.) I know everyone is itching to return. And it will be very soon. But just want to let you know that returning to work full-time after 2 months off, is an issue, so I will be starting off part-time only and ease back into work slowly. I am also required to wear a mask during the massage and I am finding it hard to wear one for a short time let alone a 7 hour day. So again part-time to start with. Which will make it hard, I know, to fit everyone in to start with. Apologies... And depending on how we go with the "second wave", will depend on my being allowed to stay open. We will just have to see how it all plays out. Please note there are still restrictions in place that need to be adhered to.. You will need to cancel if ..... You have ANY flu or cold symptoms. If you have travelled interstate or overseas in the last 14days. If you have had, or suspected to have had, contact with someone with Covid-19 in the last 14days You will need to use the hand sanitiser on arrival You will be required to turn up to appointment, on time. Please do not turn up early or late. If you are early you will need to wait in your car till the last client has left and I have cleaned. If you are later that 15minutes then we will have to cut your appointment short as I need time to clean between clients. Appointments will be 30minutes or a MAXIMUM of 60minutes. No 90minute appointments will be available until further notice. Because we can not socially distance and my clinic is a small, enclosed room I am asking you to be vigilant in making sure that the above restrictions are adhered to, as I do have family members that are immune compromised so I can not pass anything onto them.
