25.01.2022 The children in our Pre Kindy Blue room at JK Narellan have made their home corner area into a science lab as they are currently exploring the human body. This week they are learning about bones and the importance of having healthy bones. They also learnt that if we didn’t have bones we would be like jellyfish! The archaeologists were wearing lab coats in the books and documentaries they watched and so the children thought it would be great to dress up. They turned their hospital gowns inside out to use as lab coats and made their science lab so they could conduct their very own experiments. They used beacons, funnels, test tubes and jugs to do this.

24.01.2022 Sadly, with COVID Cases still popping up, we had to cancel our annual Grandparents Day morning tea, but we used video call and facetime services so we can all stay connected with our grandparents on this very special day! Additionally, the children and educators have planted succulents which the children gave to our grandparents to celebrate this occasion. This morning Miss Xiao Jing and Miss Lenae took four children and went to our next door neighbor to say happy grandparents day and gave them a succulent plant as a gift and to ensure that we stay connected with our local community. Moreover, this is an opportunity to educate children about kindness and respect to people that are very important in our lives

23.01.2022 Have you heard the latest news on face masks in NSW? We are strongly encouraged to wear face masks when out and about. Our Lane Cove North Centre is providing free face masks for their families on their way to work or to the local shops. Community partnerships are so important during a time like this, and our LCN Centre is lucky to have a great nearby pharmacy assisting them with access to all the essentials during a time like this. Thank you to the @terrywhitechemmart.pu...tney team. #staysafe

21.01.2022 Community Links This week the children at Jenny’s Kindergarten Narellan Vale were asked to wear their pyjamas to raise money for kids in foster care. The money goes straight into The Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Program, empowering kids in the foster care system with learning, life skills and confidence.... Together we raised more than $350 for this amazing cause. We would like to thank all of our families who supported this fundraiser to help foster care children in our local and wider community.

19.01.2022 Today the children were all involved in an Emergency Evacuation Drill. These drills allow the children and Educators to practice how to evacuate calmly and effectively for if a real evacuation does take place. All of the children and Educators evacuated safely and calmly into our car park today as we had a pretend fire in our outdoor playground. The car park gates were all locked prior to this taking place to ensure the safety of the children whilst they were involved in the drill. Please use this as a topic of discussion with your child when you collect them this afternoon. It is always a great idea to practice drills at home as well so in the case of an emergency they don't panic and feel confident about what to do and where to go.

16.01.2022 Our Caterpillars Room have recently been looking at role playing and dramatic play. They have shown an interest in babies and cooking. This links in with our Early Learning Curriculum involving Community Links and World Travellers.... The children have engaged in cooking, preparing and buying food, dressing up and pretend play with babies. They have extended upon this with dressing and wrapping up their dolls and bathing them. They are learning about foods from various cultures, shopping for foods and caring for babies. They have also had an amazing amount of parent input into this topic with a variety of families bringing in clothes and blankets for their babies. Family input is very important in presenting a diverse program for the children in their learning environment.

10.01.2022 The children and Educators at Jenny’s Kindergarten Narellan Vale wanted to do something to thank all of the Doctors and Nurses at Campbelltown Hospital (Our local hospital) for all of their hard work and dedication during this time. The children were involved in drawing, painting and colouring pictures to use in the video. We then put everything together in a one minute video and emailed it through to the COVID-19 test team at Campbelltown Hospital for them to watch and share with all of the staff. We love to engage in the local community as much as possible and we hope this Video put a smile on their faces.

04.01.2022 Today the pre kindy children were involved in a community links project. Heather from Narellan vale Public School conducted a Storytime Zoom meeting with the Pre Kindy Children. She read the story Twinkle to the children via zoom as we are currently unable to visit the school in person.... After the story the children were involved in completing a craft activity linked to the story they read. In our Echidnas room we created our own healthy sandwiches using carrot, cheese, cucumber and tomatoes. We also made fruit skewers which were a big success with the children, and continued to build on our fundamental skills as we hopped, skipped and jumped our way through transitions! In our Possums room we engaged in a range of experiences giving the child...ren the opportunity to extend on their knowledge of being healthy and how to keep our bodies as healthy as possible. The Possums engaged in fun obstacles courses outside, focusing on their physical skills and fundamental movements. We practised our throwing, catching and kicking skills and also did some fun exercises. The children engaged in experiences to learn about how to make healthy snacks such as salad sandwiches and fruit skewers. In our Pre Kindy room the whole week was filled with fun physical activity boot camps, healthy eating activities and reflections on what 'sometimes' and 'always' foods are. For half of the week, the Pre kindy's spent all morning outdoors and joined into boot camps with Miss Jaimi. 03.01.2022 At JK Narellan to further encourage our families to have input into our Specialised Early Learning Curriculum, we have placed two baskets at our main entrance with labels. The two baskets are used to collect certain recyclable and natural resources each fortnight. This fortnight we asked families to bring in grocery packaging. These recycled resources are then used in our rooms for various planned projects and spontaneous activities and exploration. The Laughing Ladybugs room used some of these resources to create their very own Princess Castle to tie in with their current interest topic of Once Upon a Time where they have been learning about and discussing fairy tales, magical creatures and characters. After constructing their castle they painted and decorated it to completed their project.
