22.01.2022 At the time it was opened in November 1954, the Binoomea cut was the longest man-made tourist access tunnel in Australia at 122 meters long It makes for a fantastic entrance to the Orient and Temple of Baal caves, especially in summer as the cool air from the caves hits just after the door Check out our blog for more info https://www.jenolancaves.org.au//jenolans-eerie-shortcut-/
22.01.2022 It's finally happening! Tomorrow the Orient and Temple of Baal caves start having tours again! Due of the very limited number of guests that we are able to guide through the caves at one time (6 guests for the Orient and 8 guests for the Baal - a very exclusive experience indeed!), we are offering our cave tours with either an accmodation or Chisolm's dining booking. Please be aware that we are only able to offer tours via pre-booking to ensure we can accommodate our guests.... Please make sure you book in advance as we are unable to offer tours to non-booked guests, To ensure our business remains flexible and to avoid disappointment for our guests, we are only initially releasing tour dates for November and will release further tour dates two weeks in advance following that. This will enable us to adapt our operations if need be. We pride ourselves on the safety, comfort and enjoyment of our guests and as a result COVID-19 safe practices have been implemented for our cave tours. You can check out our Covid-19 safe plan, tour package details, see the current schedule and pre-book from our website. Keep an eye out here for the release of the new tour schedules as well as any news regarding further caves or tours being added. We can't wait to see you back at the caves! . #SeeAustralia @Australia #NewSouthWales @visitnsw @nswnationalparks #NSWParks @sydney @bluemountainsaustralia #visitbathurst #bluemtsaus #unearthcentralnsw #experience_oberon #bucketlist #westernadvocate #lithgowtourism #watchthisinstagood #travel #naturephotography #animalphotography #caves #nswenvironmentandheritage #oldbuilding #oldhotel #australia #earth #aroundtheworld #natureaddict #worldheritage #wombat #platypus #holidayherethisyear #emptyesky #wewantyouback

18.01.2022 Here's a great look at the Blue Lake project and its progress
18.01.2022 Today is International Day of Monuments and Sites. While we are still temporarily closed, there's no time like the present to think about the diverse nature of heritage sites around Australia and the world, and the importance of their conservation and protection We hope to have an update for you all soon regarding the roads to Jenolan and when we can potentially reopen. Stay tuned and thank you for your support through yet another but hopefully the last disaster https://australia.icomos.org//international-day-on-monume/
16.01.2022 Our main road (the 5 mile) is open again! The Blue Lake remains closed as the works are on going but the road access is now open with traffic control
16.01.2022 CLOSURE EXTENSION ANNOUNCEMENT Given the damage caused to Jenolan Caves Rd (in both directions) due to extreme weather, Transport for NSW has advised that access into Jenolan Caves will be closed for the foreseeable future. As there is no alternate access to Jenolan we have closed our precinct up to and including the 5th of April. Once the extreme rain event has concluded, we will work together with Transport for NSW to assess the full impact and determine a recovery plan a...nd timings to get both the road and precinct back open. We will have an update once these assessments have taken place. This has been a difficult but necessary decision as you can see from the photos of the 5-mile. We understand it will be disappointing for a lot of our guests that were hoping to visit us over the next couple of weeks. Jenolan Caves offers complete booking flexibility and our staff are happy to assist you by arranging alternative dates, offering a voucher valid for up to three years or providing a refund for any cancellations for experiences that have been pre-paid. We are in the process of contacting our guests but if you require assistance, please call us on 02 6339 9247 or email [email protected] for accommodation and dining related enquires. Alternatively, you can call 02 6339 9216 or email [email protected] for cave tour related enquires. We are experiencing a large number of calls and emails, so if you can’t get through immediately please leave a message or email and rest assured we will get back to you as soon as we can. We apologise for the inconvenience but have made this decision as we pride ourselves on the safety, comfort and enjoyment of our guests and staff. We look forward to welcoming you back to Jenolan Caves very soon and will provide you with an update as soon as we can. Stay safe! See more
16.01.2022 Our next round of cave tour dates has been released! You are now able to book up to December 20th Keep an eye for the next round of release dates soon
15.01.2022 Today is World Science Day for peace and Development While we deal mainly in the sciences of geology and paleontology (fossils), we're also connected to the fields of biology, ecology and environmental science thanks to our reserve. Today is the perfect day to learn more and there's some fascinating reading in our blog https://www.jenolancaves.org.au//somewhere-something-incr/
14.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for commenting and sending your messages of support, it's greatly appreciated especially after having only been back for a few months after last years events. We will keep you updated with information as it comes to us, stay safe
11.01.2022 Hope you are all staying safe and dry! If you are trying to call, please be aware that we have reduced staff across the next few days whilst we wait out the rain and closure. If you are unable to get through or haven’t heard back from us, rest assured we will get back to you after Tuesday once all our staff are back on board. In the meantime, feel free to email [email protected] for any dining or accommodation related matters, or [email protected] for cave tours. We apologise for the delay in response but will endeavour to get back to you quickly after Tuesday. Thanks for your understanding
10.01.2022 FURTHER CLOSURE EXTENSION ANNOUNCEMENT Transport for NSW has further advised that access into Jenolan Caves will be closed for the foreseeable future. As there is no alternate access to Jenolan, we have extended the closure of our precinct up to and including the 18th of April. The closure extension is required to give Transport for NSW time to assess the full impact and undertake repairs to Jenolan Caves Rd (2-mile), and determine a long-term recovery and access plan for... the 5-mile which will take considerably longer to repair (see below photo for reference). Transport for NSW are assessing the roads early this week and we will have an update once these assessments have taken place. This extension been another tough decision for our business and we understand it will be disappointing for a lot of our guests that were hoping to visit us over Easter and the school holidays. Please know though, we offer complete booking flexibility and our staff are happy to assist you by arranging alternative dates, offering a voucher valid for up to three years or providing a refund for any cancellations for experiences that have been pre-paid. We are in the process of contacting our guests but if you require assistance, please call us on 02 6339 9247 or email [email protected] for accommodation and dining related enquires. Alternatively, you can call 02 6339 9216 or email [email protected] for cave tour related enquires. We are experiencing a large amount of calls and emails, so if you can’t get through immediately please leave a message or email and rest assured, we will get back to you as soon as we can. We apologise for the inconvenience but have made this necessary decision as we pride ourselves on the safety, comfort and enjoyment of our guests and staff. We look forward to welcoming you back to Jenolan Caves soon.

09.01.2022 We may not have any mobile signal in the caves but in the 1920s we had radio! A small portable super hetrodyne set at the bottom of the River Cave brought the N.S.W. stations 2BL and 2FC at a volume twice as great as could be obtained outside the Caves. The large crowd during the morning inspections greatly enjoyed the choir singing at the Randwick Presbyterian Church, which was broadcast by 2BU." It was a bit of a big deal, to the point where it got the attention of the Duke and Duchess of York, who visited in March 1927 with the intention of doing a broadcast from inside the cave https://www.jenolancaves.org.au//b/wiburd-on-the-wireless/
06.01.2022 Happy Easter Our bunnies are working hard to get our beautiful Jenolan back open for you all. Hope you are having a wonderful time with family and friends - thanks for all your support!

02.01.2022 Important road announcement On Monday the 30th our main access road will be closed from 10am for 2-3 hrs. This means that if you're travelling to or from the Sydney/Katoomba direction and arriving/departing during this time you will need to use the Duckmaloi/Edith Rd detour, this will add about half an hour to the trip. Also road work is commencing at the Hampton bends (just past the Hampton pub) causing minor delays, please give yourselves a little extra travel time just in case safe travels
01.01.2022 Hi All, for those of you who have bookings between the 20th of March and 5th of April, please make sure you check your email and your junk folders for notifications from Jenolan. Thank you all for your compassion, patience and understanding :)
