14.01.2022 This is why I do what I do :)

14.01.2022 Ceramic class today, ladies making large #totembeads for their garden. ~~~ Now that the beads have been made from wet clay, they will sit on the shelf until the clay is completely dried. This could take at least 2 weeks. Once dried, I load the beads in my #kiln for their first firing, known as a #bisque firing where the kiln temp reaches to over 1000cel before the kiln shuts off. Once the lid goes on the kiln, it's contents survival are in the #lapofthegods. About 24 ho...urs later, when the kiln has cooled, I can open the kiln, unload it and fingers crossed all is good. However, breakages do sometimes happen, so is the 'joy' of ceramics. Next stage is colour time :) #gardenart #jensceramicclasses

03.01.2022 Today's gifted ClayPlay class ... After reading a posting today in South Australia Bushfire Updates & Community Assistance, and having personally experience of home loss caused by a bush fire, I know how important it is to have TimeOut. So I invited Le and her family and gifted them a ceramic class in my studio for some therapeutic TimeOut. Totem beads were made as a family project, to put in their garden when they return plus a few other goodies.
