17.01.2022 Working on a piece that you know the story & history of makes it that much more fulfilling, and the key to creating the vision the customer is dreaming of! Judy came to us with this beautiful piece of history, all the way from a station North West of Bourke! Made from packing cases in 1938 with still the original hand writing on the back!! This little cupboard was in Judy’s home office growing up that her Father use to call... the tobacco cupboard Wanting to give it a new life but still creating the feel of age and history, Judy chose to have this little gem painted white with a distressed/shabby finish. I chose Palace White from my most favourite paint range, Jolie Chalk Paint! I have done my fair share of reading and studying the best ways to create a distressed look since starting JE Remodelled - learning all the little tips and tricks! I used the correct grit sand paper, pressure & direction whilst distressing the piece, wiped over with a Tack cloth (painters best friend!!) I then used the two types of furniture finishing steel wool to make it silky smooth! Even though this is a distressed piece, the right finishing tools will still leave you with a even and smooth finish. Lastly I then sealed with Jolie clear Wax using a lint free cloth & buffed 15mins after to create a slight shine Thankyou for letting us recreate this little piece for you Judy
