23.01.2022 Among us kids, we make our Mum the scapegoat for all the things that piss us off. Short legs ( my sis) - Short legs AND big nose AND argumentative AND Likey-Drinkey ( me) Male patterned baldness ( my very bald brother trumps us alllol) .... Gee Mum, THANKS A BLOODY LOT we tell her. . While my bro has suffered from one extreme, I’ve the other. I’ve thick . unruly, always disheveled hair. ( How very cruel male baldness, to have sisters with so much hair!) . Mum’s fault both. . Conversely, any positive attributes I might have are gifts bestowed directly from the Gods, who bypassed genetic laws ( and mother) to raise me aloft ( for reasons known only to them) from our decidedly peasant stock. . My children have tried this same strategy on me , but I was sure to nip it in the bud early. Don’t like your nose/ears/hair/whatever? I would say as soon as they were old enough to be gazing at their reflection. Blame Midge (my mother is THAT short it’s now her name) it’s all her fault Never be caught on defence with my lot, always be on offence. #parentingtip . Follow the rules my friends. 11.01.2022 When God was handing out the gifts the day I was born She must have been singularly distracted, for I’ve not a whole lot of natural talent:- I’m unco at pretty much everything , and lacking in so many practical skills. . I think She got back into the moment at the last minute though , as I’ve one SUPER POWER which makes up for the lack of everything else.... . I’m a BOSS at getting clever peeps make me look good . When our guest wanted his birthday weekend to have all the bells and whistles, it was straight onto @southcoastexperiences , who curated a weekend of horse riding, tennis coaching , massages ( @soulrevivalspa ) and an outdoor movie night! . And for his perfect Spring birthday lunch, it had to be Karina @dandelionandmallow . Along with her utterly delicious food is an offering of a styled table from @shadyfig and isn’t this the very prettiest?!!! . Even one as challenging as this is. . For Glyn and I the only hardship is missing our kids, family and friends. I’m a hugger, and their touch will be extra sweet when we’re together, soon, soon.... . 05.01.2022 I feel like I fell into Alice’s Rabbit Hole this weekend. . It happened like this. . Michelle from Shady Fig ( the South Coast’s premium florist) sent me a message KATE!!!! (That’s how she talks, in capitals of sunshine, laughter , life and love). MY FRIENDS JULIE @julie_gibbs and GILLY @gillianbellcake are scouting for a property to host their weekend, AND JERRYMARA WOULD BE PERFECT!!!!... . Well of course I was onboard, and though I didn’t know the ladies, Michelle’s excitement was infectious. So by the time I get a message from @flissdodd offering her photographic services for a day, I too was speaking in caps. FLISS DODD!!!! You’re kidding me, I WOULD KILL to have you HERE!!!!! . Fast forward to the weekend, and now I get it. The ladies are magical: warm , loving ,Spinners of Tales, who are immersed in the world of cooking, baking, publishing , and, making friends. . Ten minutes after I met her Gillian told me that wherever she was in the world she would have my back , and Jules fussed over me the entire time with especially -for -me vegan treats. . Their guests were like them, kind and gentle, and included my dear Carol @makerbythesea ( who makes our French shopping bags) and @lifeintheoldmanse Lucie, whose house I gave drooled over for years ( have a look and you’ll see) but didn’t yet know. On Saturday Saskia @grandiflora_sydney was here ( I’m now owning up to being the one who stuck my nose on her floral cave’s window many mornings to peer in) and I think this woman must have been born with a smile on her face. . On Sunday @leantimms drops by for lunch. LEAN I cap-shouted. ( Look her up also ) . Jerrymara was a Wonderland for the weekend, with Michelle’s blooms and beautiful guests making it so . 02.01.2022 It’s close to 3 years since we purchased Jerrymara, and 1 year since our neighbour called me , Kate it’s Glyn, it’s bad, he’s cut his hand off . He hadn’t, not quite, but the local hospital ED told me it would never function and be a ‘dead hand’. (I’ll put a couple of pics in stories post surgery) .... Fast forward to now and when I ask Glyn how his hand is , he always says ‘it’s f.cked’ . It’s actually a lot better than f-cked , he’s going great, and he’s back working on the property and doing lots of things he loves ; just don’t ask him to button his shirt or use a fork in good company. . 3 years ...... it’s been a whole lot more work than we were expecting, and while I still have to remind Glyn, You’re in HOSPITALITY now Darl !!!! , it’s with far less regularity so we’re definitely getting the hang of it. Thank you to all who chosen to stay with us ( excepting the crazies who threw the big party ) -through you, we’ve donated over $20k to both your causes and mine NB Glyn may not know about this last bit Photo - top paddock /night fire . . . .
