17.01.2022 Special night for me last night for the Byron Q&A of @birthtimeworld. Three of my favourite humans in the world were in attendance... my brother, my sister-in-law, and my oldest friend in the universe. To sit in the cinema watching our creation with them after years of sharing stories and tales of our adventures was like coming home. 04.01.2022 WORLD DOULA WEEK 2021 I’ve been reflecting a lot on my journey as a doula recently... at the release of the @birthtimeworld documentary, in which we dedicate a section to doulas, the two women who were utterly pivotal to me in my first steps into doula work, Nikki and Tania from Childbirth International, came along to see the film and support us. Upon seeing them I spontaneously burst into tears, which completely took me by surprise. I was transported back to 15 years ago, s...itting in a room with them, the newest to the birth world of all the women in that room, an absolute sponge as I absorbed their teachings which to this day are fundamental in the way I work. I remember feeling shocked, inspired, saddened and fired up to make a change in the world, one woman at a time. The to have them walk in to a cinema of 600 people to view something our team had created to attempt to generate change on a much greater scale, was an absolute full circle moment. I have so much to thank for these women. A lot has changed since then and yet, not much at all has. We need to come together to improve the outcomes for our families, to support women and birthing people to come out of these experiences feeling downright amazing, because they are. Here is a rare moment (thank you @midwifejohunter for thinking to pick up the camera when I’d set it down) captured of me in the work that I adore... taking one step at a time through labour, with a woman. Thank you for your willingness to share, @gabriellawoodward___ , you incredible being.
