13.01.2022 Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2020: Always Was Always Will Be The Jervis Bay Maritime Museum acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Museum is situated. We pay our respects to the Elders past and present who are the knowledge holders and teachers. We acknowledge their continued spiritual and cultural connection to the land and sea country of Jervis Bay. Our new exhibition, Munggura-Nggul (Home-Belong) features the history and experience of the Indigenous... people that have occupied the Bay area for over 5,000 years. Recounting the struggles of the local Aboriginal people to survive the marginalisation of European settlement through to the Aboriginal land rights movement of the 1970s and contemporary living. #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOCWeek2020 Images: Shellwork box by Esme Timbery, c. 1990.
