25.01.2022 It’s little late but I have been FLAT STICK! Here are some pics of the GORGEOUS meals and drinks @benparkernutrition and I had for our birthday get away at @harvestnewrybar Head chef @allywaddell7 & team do the most incredible work to bring Australian cuisine to the table in ways that send your tastebuds and mind spiralling. @peterhardwick aka the forager, collects little untold Aussie secrets that are carefully and thoughtfully incorporated into the dishes by @allywaddell7... and team. @mowgli83110 is the magician behind the bar, creating the most phenomenal alcoholic free pairings, carefully constructed, fermented again using unsung beauties of the Aussie bush If you have not been here and experienced this magic then you absolutely must!! As a Dietitian I can tell you the ins and outs of the nutritional purpose food serves - but as a human I can confirm it plays so many more then just that. To eat like this, slowly, mindfully and gratefully is such a gift and if we ate like this more we would have a lot less sick people and a happier planet earth. 23.01.2022 @tarzan_health know’s us too well beautiful handmade ceramic mugs from @_maeigz in the sunshine coast What better way to test them out then with my home made cashew mylk turmeric latte #health #antiinflam #antioxidants Ing: 1 cup cashews 1 cup water... 3 dates 2 tsp vanilla essence 1/4 tsp salt . Combine all ingredients and leave to soak in the fridge overnight. Then blend = cashew mylk . Turmeric latte: 2 tsp turmeric powder 1/4 tsp blk pepper 1 tsp cinnamon tsp nutmeg 1 tbsp sweetener of choice. Combine in small pot over heat w mylk serve and enjoy those nutrients See more

22.01.2022 Can’t go wrong w kimchi scrambled eggs on home made sourdough #eggs #kimchi #tasty #fermentedfoods . Aside from the phenomenal flavour, fermented foods have been under the spot light for ‘super foods’ & ‘health foods’ and naturally we have seen a massive explosion in their marketability $$$ #foodcompanies #moneymoneymoney But like any food trend it’s good to have your witts about you . What’s the benefit?... Fermented foods contain probiotics, little live cultures & bacteria that add to/ boost/ strengthen the types & amounts of gut bacteria in your own digestive tract. These little creatures are suggested to be linked to all sorts of health conditions . What’s a good source of probiotics? Most of us are familiar with the dairy ferments, yogurt’s & kefir’s, but pickled vegetables such as sauerkraut & kimchi are great sources also. The trick is to find the ones labelled naturally fermented as this means the food item has used the natural sources of bacteria + time to ferment. Sometimes foods will use vinegars or sugar syrups and don’t have any beneficial microbes . Of course nothing compares to making your own and I would highly suggest you give it a burn! 18.01.2022 Omg I could go for a mega bowl of this rn! Gnocchi w green peas & broccoli w a lil parmesan to taste #omgnoms This is a super easy, quick, simple that is packed with nutrients and relatively low energy #waistlinefriendly Sauce: - 1 tsbp capers - 4 anchovies (optional) - 1 lemon juiced... - 1 bunch mixed chives & parsley - 4 tbsp olive oil Method: Blend in blender and set aside. Gnocchi: - 500g pre made gnocchi - 1 broccoli head - 1/2 packet of frozen peas - parmesan (smelly cheese ) .. Method: 0. Make a large bowl of iced water, set aside. 1. Bring a giant pot of water to the boil. 2. Blanch broccoli & peas for 2mins 3. Throw into iced water and let cool. 4. Add the gnocchi to the large pot of boiling water and cook for 2-3 mins (check instructions on packet depending on brand and type) 5. 18.01.2022 I have literally been eating pizza for dinner every night this week #youwhat #howcouldyou But here’s why it’s ok & fits my goals . Its home made (not calorie free tho - healthy does NOT equal calorie free) we use fresh nourishing ingredients (tomato, olives, capers, spinach, artichoke) + quality protein in our case we love sardines which most people hate but omega 3’s & calcium guys! but you could use chicken, salmon or lean meat. It has both soluble and inso...luble fibre & we REALLY enjoy it . We portion... well I portion Ben being a larger human w a fair bit of muscle mass and usually coming home after training or biking has a way larger calorie budget then I do #dammit but I don’t miss out Our small/ medium pizza has 8 slices usually, I’ll give myself 3 and have 1 cup of non starchy vegetables on the side + 1 litre of water to wash it down. The water also takes up space in my stomach so I am physically FULL so even if I wanted more (which I always do ) I can’t physically fit it. . We always have some kind of dessert so I can knock over my sweet tooth Knowing that I still have another course to get through helps me stick to my portions because I still want to enjoy my dessert. It’s usually a lower calorie food option w a good amount of protein & a small serve that I’ll compliment w a cup of tea adding more volume to take up space and help me feel full. If you’ve never baked your own beans - man - you are missing the fudge out. It’s never occurred to me to make my own baked beans - but - so dang easy and WAY tastier then anything a mass produced commercial brand could ever deliver. You also get to personalise it up a bit - make em smokey, make em spicy really the options are limitless and of course one of the best parts - they store so well! How?! 1. Be mindful of your meal components (eg. Instead of bacon, sausages and hash-browns, choose spinach, tomato & mushrooms). 2. This time of year you want to enjoy yourself #ido but I’m always trying to squeeze health promoting, nourishing volume foods in at every occasion because ya gurl lovessssss to eat Improving your diet/ health needs to be a lifestyle - it’s not just a buzz word - it has meaning. The most effective and sustainable health improvements are the ones that improve your health in a fashion the suit your eating preference, time, s...kills, family - LIFESTYLE. Instead of jumping on the NY’s diet resolutions of next fad diet why don’t we all just think of ways that you add a few more fruits & vegetables to your current daily routine & how we can add a little bit more movement #takethestairsyo . Here’s a pic of our maniac platters that we do up when we have guests yes there are sometimes foods on there - 100% should be but there are also amaZing fruits & vegetables, raw, cooked & fermented. Now granted when food is presented to me like this I 120% go shark eyes and portion control is out the window - BUT - another strategy I find useful is alternating. Eg - I can eat what I ever want & as much as I want, but I have to have a vegetable in between each ‘sometimes’ food. This may seem crazy but for me it ensures I’m still eating nourishing foods & fills me up. It might sounds crazy to you, or extreme but this works for ME.
