25.01.2022 Something some of our little scientists might love to watch!

25.01.2022 Never been to the creek? No worries! It was our friends first ever visit a couple of weeks ago and these were the pictures we captured on his FIRST DAY! He had no hesitation, no worries and no concerns all he wanted to do was take off his shoes and jump in the water. Children adapt to situations very quickly and their inquisitiveness takes over. Their focus of fear switches off and the role of having fun takes over.... Our friend explored the concept of temperature as he soon discovered that the water was super cold!

25.01.2022 BACK TO OUR HAPPY PLACE It's been a long couple of months for our friends, but finally we got the all clear to head back out to our happy place....THE CREEK! We discovered lots of hidden gems, insects and of course lots of fallen trees thanks to the wind and wet weather!

23.01.2022 In realtion to the covid19 restrictions it has been advised that preschool still continue the same processes as they were currently doing in Term 2. In summary -We are still asking families to not enter the preschool rooms. ... -We are asking for only one family member to enter the preschool gates -We are asking for older siblings to remain outside the preschool gates -We ask that younger siblings stay with their parent at all times -Hand sanitiser to be used upon entering and exiting -If your child has ANY FLU LIKE symptoms that they STAY AT HOME. A full detail email will be sent out to families.

23.01.2022 Stick Play..... Yes PLEASE! "Playing with sticks ignites childrens imaginations because they are such a great open-ended play item and allows children to express themselves freely. Sticks also have therapeutic benefits. Branches and long sticks can build strength and muscles as children lift, drag or carry them from place to place. Also, it takes teamwork when a stick is too big for one child to move by themselves. Children develop their communication and social skills a...s they engage their peers to help them move sticks around to build things". We always tell our friends that practice makes perfect so we had to make sure our teacher was ready for the big day as well! Happy Pirate Day for Tomorrow!

13.01.2022 We listen to the ideas that our children raise. We value their feedback and their contributions. We love to include them in everything we do. We respect their role as teachers as they guide us. We respond to their queries or questions.... Here we are involving the children through our process of developing a mural that is unique to our service and to ensure that it represents who we are, we asked our most honest individuals (all the children) to give us their thoughts, ideas and what they would like to see. What do you love about our preschool?

12.01.2022 It's important to slow down, check in and make someone smile! Giving our families a little surprise (which lead to smiles) as they dropped off and our educators got one too!... The koala room have been working on mindfulness and positive and strong minds! So we took the time to ask the friends what made them happy for R U OK Day! Here were some of their responses: "A cuddle" "A kiss from mum" "Going to the park" "Ice cream" "Playing with my friends" "Jumping on the trampoline with my mum"

12.01.2022 Who remembers Harold! He is tall, orange, smiles alot and bring so much happiness to all our friends. We were invited up to Heaton Public School to learn about how to keep our bodies healthy. ... This sparked lots of conversations upon pick up as many of our mums and dads have also met Harold when they were little.

11.01.2022 To finish off our week we were invited to do our acknowledgement to country at the school assembly today. The children and staff created our own acknowledgement with the support from Cherie from Speaking In Colour. We use key sign to help communicate the words as this is part of our everyday practice. We were all very proud to be invited over. ... Thankyou Heaton Public School Watch it below https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZBPazwu5mtfBAwG96

11.01.2022 How do we learn? Hands on How do we teach? Hands on Each child has a different story to tell or a different experince to share. When a discussion came up about fire one of our friends shared "We put our rubbish in the fire in Sri Lanka", another shared "You know the Aborignal people sleep next to it" and someone else shared "We cook marshmallows on the fire at my house". ... When educators take the time and empower the children to share their experiences we are able to gain a deeper understanding of their life, their culture and their knowledge. Its a secret passage into their minds and their thinking. P.s we made yummy popcorn!

10.01.2022 Thanks so much Stockland!

10.01.2022 Some great places here in Newcastle!

09.01.2022 3 days to go to order the best cookie dough there is!! Just intime for school holidays!

08.01.2022 Educators Day 2020 Today we stop and take the time to celebrate the amazing work our educators do. 2020 has been one of the biggest roller-coaster years we have faced ever for our little preschool. We have learnt so much by being placed in this situation and I am forever grateful that we were able to acknowledge the work of all our educators with a special morning tea and a gift.... Thankyou to the families who wrote in the card, brought gifts and thanked us for what we do. To Heaton Public School for the sausage sizzle as well. We are very lucky to have a supportive community and very blessed to be acknowledged how we were today. Happy Educator day to all our fellow teachers out there! Haylee

06.01.2022 Just keep SWINGING...... Working on our core strength and our fine motor skills!

05.01.2022 When we learn from the best, your children will learn from the best. Niki has been working with our preschool over the past 4/5 years. She knows who we are and what we do. She challenges our educators and inspires us to bring new experiences and knowledge into our everyday teaching.

05.01.2022 Before and after photos of our little make over some of the staff helped to do through the school holidays!! Thanks to Bunnings Wallsend also for the donations which allowed us to buy the paint!

05.01.2022 Don't forget tonight between 6pm and 7pm!

04.01.2022 Today we sadly had to say goodbye to our amazing teacher Michelle as she takes her next adventure in her career. Michelle has been a supportive, caring, thoughtful and beyond helpful teacher to not only the many children she has taught but to our families and staff. Her world of knowledge is beyond what anyone could imagine. She always puts others first and continuously put the imaginations, heart and sole of each child as her purpose. She will be extremely missed but we know that the next step in your career is going to give so many educators the knowledge that we were so lucky to get.

03.01.2022 Support Jesmond Community Preschool and show off your baking skills with Australias favourite cookie dough, Billy Gs. There are ten flavours available to satisfy any cookie dough. Happy fundraising

03.01.2022 Thanks to ABC Kids. We can't wait to share these!

03.01.2022 Hand Development Look at the differences between a typical preschool childs hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isnt able to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwin...g balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready. via @Raisingherbarefoot

02.01.2022 Learning to Acknowledge our land and the people. Learning Auslan signs. Learning how to respect one another.

01.01.2022 Don't forget koala room Friday friends we are heading to Sydney Aquarium at 10am (virtually) for an excursion to see what lives inside the sea!
